After all Inferi made it very clear he is dropping this mod.
It's in my opinion one of the best capital engine mods out there, it's a shame seeing it broken all the time.

As it is, the standard ones are better in every possible aspect except (maybe?) durability.
The standard ones cost less, weigh less, and produce more thrust for the same power input.
From a purely stats-based perspective, there's no reason to use the "more vanilla like" ones unless you expect them to be taking lots of damage, so long as the standard version is available in the G-menu. Splitting them into separate mods would help differentiate them better, as AFAIK the stats and build costs are the only differences between "vanilla" capital thrusters and "standard" capital thrusters.
As far as I know, this should be an easy change to implement, there's no modeling work needed, just some text editing in the cubeblocks.sbc (I think, it's been a while since I've worked with this game's file structures).
