If you want to play against the AI, I suggest you try the Third Age: Middle Earth scenario which there is a link to in the description.

Sorry to bother but how do we play this as 2 players? It doesn't let us play it as 2 people on the same team and if there even are A.I in the game they just die and we automatically win. We just want to explore Middle-Earth as a co-op experience :(

Yes since the AI does not work on settlers-type maps such as this one. This is a multiplayer scenario file.

Is there any way to modify individual units/buildings in the Scenario Editor? I wanted to make the "Eye of Sauron" and "Smaug" more powerful for the sake of role-playing.

Already did :) check out my Third Age Middle Earth scenarios. New models and textures from the Legends of Middle Earth total conversion mod are still in the works. There is an update for that mod for TT and as soon as that's out we're going to start work on the port to EE.

I have released a massive update for the Third Age Middle Earth scenario pack which includes a much improved Settlers map. I encourage you to check it out. I will leave Age of Middle Earth untouched as it was made before the TotD release.

That's interesting. I'm in the very slow process of updating this scenario so there will be a fix eventually. You can also try subscribing to the other Third Age scenario I made but that won't have a settlers version.

@Strider - I have considered doing that but I don't know where to find a download for BME. EA killed it and never sold the rights so it's really hard to find a legit copy of the game nowadays.

I have released an update to this scenario that basically prevents or mitigates the impact of kite rushing. Unfortunately, many players have realized that (prior to this update) you could rush and easily eliminate an enemy in the first couple minutes of the game by kiting an army of NPC units into their base. Hopefully this update will prevent that sort of tactic.

Someone from Microsoft played this mod on the official Twitch stream. He clearly did not read the description, because he played the multiplayer version in single-player and was generally confused about why the AI seemed to be doing nothing. He also didn't notice the myth units from the temple being automatically killed, because his missing unit also confused him. Regardless, he said it was awesome.

@King Andrew - I have tried to make the maximum size just to see what it would do and it crashed before the map was generated, if that answers your question. Nottud's editor lets you make maps that big in theory... but it doesn't mean AoM has to like it.

@King Andrew - Use nottud's editor. You can make maps very large or very small but I have found that maps larger than 2,000X2,000 almost immediately crash and lag terribly.

@Wanjibon - Are you describing a desync error or a crash? In the former case, that is unfortunately just something that happens in online games. If the latter, I'm not sure what could be causing that. Check to see if you are able to open the map in editor. You may want to try deleting the .scx and re-downloading.

@King Andrew, yes the Gaia units are there to guard resources and to mark the location of species and populations from LotR.
