Fildter for type = Prop and Search: Floor Projector

Is the projector a prop or a cabinet?
Oke_Doke  [author] 21 Jul, 2015 @ 3:55pm
Yea, AA arcade has a working projector prop, I also have a dome projector modded from the original floor projector prop. it works best with fulldome format images at 1:1 aspect ratio. I'm still wanting to give this map a real fulldome screen to eliminate the problems with the projector quality. but i'm working on other things atm.

There's a working projector?

The basic flor projector included in AA should suit your needs MCHampster. The Star Trek Screenshots where using that projector.

Could you make another version without such a wide angle? A version that can show normal vidoes?

Well sure, ill try not to make any changes which would interfere with saves. I need to finish it, there is an entire floor missing and the exterior. I'm waiting for a weekend to revisit it in cph and take some photos.

WHOA!! XD May Dream Weaver use this as a future arcade build?

Yea I think the max resolution of the screen textures is 720p regardless of the video input. (I could be wrong) Although setting a YouTube video to 4k and then scrubbing seems to improve things a little, it may not play as smoothly for everyone. Good to hear your not getting the video stutter on the dome projector though, I do when looking at it from certain angles and it drives me nuts i can't fix it.
CZBGR Icepick 31 May, 2015 @ 1:24pm
interestingly, I never saw any stuttering. I do notice that as a caveat with all spherical screens, videos are still blocky (pixel-wise) as if they're still in low rez, despite the fact that it should be crisp and clear above 1080p. I think this problem is native to the scale of the video itself, and not the projection, because it looks better in smaller screens (like a real life mobile phone/VR display for 360 videos on youtube).

I'll try it out with IMAX-style films online and see if it makes any difference.

Thanks for the feedback, CZBGR Icepick.

I can see that the wide angle projector could use some tweaks to its projectedtexture attributes to improve visibility at the far ends of the theater. I'll boost it a bit.

The textures you see on the floor and lower level is due to a weird back projection that happens with these entities in anarchy arcade. at first i thought it was something i borked when modding the prop but it appears to happen with the stock projector too. Adjusting the NearZ to exclude nearby surfaces seems to have no effect. I'll keep poking it.

The wide angle projector was kind of a kludge on my part when i wasn't able to make a stable dome screen for the map. I'm surprised it worked as well as it does. I still notice stuttering when standing in the fov of the projector. It sucks, but i don't think i can do anything about it from my end.

before the update, everything was fine. all the models and related content were in place.

post-update, somebody must have done some serious redecorating. I also noticed the wide-screen projector* was added though.

*idk who made this projector model model, but thanks. I don't recall it being there pre-update, but this makes it a lot better. however....

I thought this might also come to their attention: the projector does function as intended, except the projected screen may be too wide for the actual scale of the theater, because it is also penetrating through walls, stairs, floors, etc. this might be a scaling or FOV issue. I also can't see the screen from the far ends of the theater. :/
