Sure, have fun!
Molten Carnage 20 Dec, 2018 @ 3:31pm
After reading some of the comments, I take it that you have given everyone permission to alter and repair this mod? With that in mind, I'll go ahead with what I had asked and be sure to credit you until such time that you contact me and notify me that you would like me to take it down. Hope you return to SE one day, I'm curious to see where you would have gone with modding. Cheers.
Molten Carnage 20 Dec, 2018 @ 3:25pm
@Craig P Hi, I really like the solar collectors you made. I was wondering if you would give me permission to modify the mod to have just the collectors. I don't know enough about modding to fix the mod, but would like to have the collectors as decorative parts without all the warnings SE is currently giving with the other blocks in the pack. Thanks
Shaey-Sama 26 Jan, 2018 @ 8:56am
how did you get it to fold?
Jamer The Gamer 29 Dec, 2017 @ 2:03pm
hey im just wondering guys if any has made a new upload of this mod since its one of my favorite mods
Asher 28 Nov, 2017 @ 12:02pm
Can you plz update this if you ever got time if not can someone who knows how to plz make a fix for this its a very useful and good looking solar powerd mod.
Craig P  [author] 9 Jun, 2017 @ 1:16pm
Feel free to do it, I haven't been active in a year or more.
Atom-X 9 Jun, 2017 @ 5:57am
Hi Craig P, I love your mod solar panels. Could you fix the mid so the color stop changing to pink in direct sun light (last update got that messed up). Also could you make a thin cylinder panel armor to incase the atmospheric thrusters? Even in 2 pieces as half cylinder would be nice, something like this: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/769400622907341618/8F241F7FC81B2AB7D954FBABE24D4F8A65E870DE/

Sorry, I honestly haven't been playing this game, I don't know what's up.
Devlah 16 Mar, 2017 @ 3:08pm
It appears that Keen has made yet another change to the modding system as of SE 1.178.3.
Some MODs have been broken entirely, and others have their textures not showing. Case in point:

That's good to hear, Jinks. I had to make the concentrators two-sided because one-sided panels used to have a bug where they effectively "burn out" in one day due to an error in the light detection code. So I had to make them two-sided.

Dunno if that's still a problem.
Jinks 7 Nov, 2016 @ 3:51pm
Appear to still be working as of 160_dev. They generate power and roughly to the same (relative) amount as vanilla panels. (Read: same amount of green pips.)

Only caveat is that the concentrators can take power from the back which kinda bites with the model. (I guess Keen's panel code never assumed single-sided panels.)
Vas 17 Sep, 2016 @ 6:49am
I am on the dev version, and I only did a basic test and found out the mod isn't what I'm looking for, but it seemed to have worked so. I want realism and such from my mods. :P
Craig P  [author] 17 Sep, 2016 @ 6:28am
According to Vas it is, but I haven't played Space Engineers in months, so I dunno.
Craig P  [author] 14 Sep, 2016 @ 5:51pm
Yeah, I work in solar thermal for a living. If you want realistic solar concentrators, get the devs to make it possible.
Vas 14 Sep, 2016 @ 4:55pm
Just a note though, the mod appears to work in Dev version, what exactly is broken? I could take a look at it if you want and see if there is anything I can do.
Vas 14 Sep, 2016 @ 4:55pm
Your solar concentrators make no sense at all. All your solar concentrator is, is a mirror. It does nothing but reflect based on the graphics of the thing.

http://www.qrg.northwestern.edu/projects/vss/docs/power/1-how-do-solar-concentrators-work.html

The solar concentrator in Israel uses mirrors to reflect the sun's light at a central point on a tower in the center, this point heats up because of all the light reflected at it. The heat causes the water inside the tank to turn to steam, the steam flows through turbines forcing the turbines to turn (Just like most nuclear reactors), and this is what generates power.

Your mirrors are all pointed at nothing, so there's no logic to it. On top of which, your solars are more powerful than the standard solars in the game. Might be fine, if it worked the way a real solar concentrator would.
Craig P  [author] 20 Jul, 2016 @ 3:16pm
Yeah, everything's broken. I dunno how to fix it.
drzendoom 19 Jul, 2016 @ 11:49am
I'm using the wide concentrators and even thought they are faced directly at the sun with nothing in the way they are only getting a fraction of their max power.
Craig P  [author] 15 Jun, 2016 @ 12:40pm
I don't know what Keen's changed, sorry.
Jakaya 15 Jun, 2016 @ 11:24am
Z fighting on solar panels and from my testing some arent event outputing power which is strange
HATE|DeathKnight/ALLKEYSHOP 4 Jun, 2016 @ 9:47am
hello,
i dou like your mod but the concentrators hafe a funktion that they can folow the sun but it wont work if you can help me pleas ad me too yor frand list to tel me how.
Craig P  [author] 19 May, 2016 @ 5:34am
The old way to fix that was to make them double-sided. I believe they still are marked as double-sided, but you can check by seeing if, when first installed, they work when their ass is to the sun.
夜剣Fercik 19 May, 2016 @ 4:49am
I dont know if it is just me but solar panels still stop working after one day I dont know if there is some fix and I missed it or if the bug was reintroduced I am using concentrators so maybe probpem is just in them
Hugh Manatee 17 May, 2016 @ 7:48am
Oh yea! DERP! How did that escape me? It's so frikkin obvious. lol

Actually, it reminded me of a passion flower. Figures, my mind thinks about hot sex far more than how hot the sun is. =P
Craig P  [author] 17 May, 2016 @ 7:02am
Ha ha! It's a sunflower! That's great!
Hugh Manatee 17 May, 2016 @ 6:11am
Perhaps I have a unique and somewhat quirky use for these solar panels. Looks great in my game with it animated. You decide.

Hm. I may not have balanced that part.
Vindred 23 Apr, 2016 @ 1:17pm
In survival right now just welding 32 slimlines to the back of a "drill collar" I'm making for a small grid ship. On realistic welding speed. I love your solars, but the amount of time I spend looking at them while I weld is making me want to repeatedly hit them with a girder.
HammerJuice *DEUS VULT* 17 Apr, 2016 @ 3:51pm
no worries
Craig P  [author] 17 Apr, 2016 @ 3:47pm
Just an FYI: that link doesn't show me any particular comment. So I have no idea what you're talking about, sorry.
HammerJuice *DEUS VULT* 17 Apr, 2016 @ 12:39pm
Ah alright
Craig P  [author] 17 Apr, 2016 @ 12:13pm
I don't really know what you're talking about, but I'm not actively playing this game any more.

Hi Craig I added you to friendlist. I'm the creator of the space engineers movie series.

I might have a request as it seems your the only one who can make it.
Choncy 2 Apr, 2016 @ 10:00pm
Thanks :)
Craig P  [author] 2 Apr, 2016 @ 7:32am
Sure, although DX9 an DX11 look pretty different.
Choncy 2 Apr, 2016 @ 7:24am
does this work in DX11? I really hope its a yes because these look great :) Great Job either way :)
Duke Venator Mythis 8 Mar, 2016 @ 12:05am
Okay
PhyreFox 3 Mar, 2016 @ 10:04pm
Thanks for working on this Craig P. Respect.
Craig P  [author] 3 Mar, 2016 @ 1:21pm
(All you people who reported that the solar panels only worked for one day were absolutely right. SUPER WEIRD! Thanks for being accurate, I managed to track down the issue.)
Craig P  [author] 3 Mar, 2016 @ 1:07pm
OK, turns out that they introduced a new bug where single-sided solar panels didn't work right. I've made all my solar panels double-sided, so now it should work.

siiiiggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

You may have to EXIT THE PROGRAM and RESTART in order to clear XML cache.
Craig P  [author] 2 Mar, 2016 @ 5:38am
I'm not doing anything different from the default solar panels, so I'm not sure how or why they would crap out after one solar cycle. What a weird bug. I can't even begin to imagine what might be causing it. It could be their new take on the Z axis bug, I guess.

jb_aero: if you update the mod, you'll have to restart the server/quit and restart the game. Something about definitions caching. Then your "giant death disks" that look a lot like flowers will work fine.

I hope.
jb_aero 2 Mar, 2016 @ 2:45am
My Easy Start base always looked majestic with these giant death disks spinning around to follow the sun: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=636394417

Even a couple weeks ago it worked great, but as you can see they are not even registering partial lighting. I will try redownloading the mod next time I go to load up the world, but with all the recent bugs in the game I don't have a lot of reason to. I literally only loaded it now to get you a screenie of your mods being used.
DWM|Deacon 1 Mar, 2016 @ 11:35pm
Having the same issue as SirFlutternutz. Playing on a multiplayer server and the solar panels only last one day. Once the solar panel is not in sunlight and the output drops to zero it never comes back on. All of the different solar panels from this mod are affected.

The solar panels list max output as 0 and current output at 0

Kinda sucks as I found this out AFTER I welded up 300+ slimline solar panels.
Craig P  [author] 1 Mar, 2016 @ 5:32am
That is very weird. Is their max output listed as 0, or is it just their current output?
SirFlutternutz 29 Feb, 2016 @ 11:10pm
I have a survival world with these and it seems that after 1 day-night cycle (default 2 hours) the large ship wide concentrator, small ship concentrator, and small ship thinline all stop producing power, even in sunlight. This may also be the case with the others. The ones listed are the only ones that I have tried.
Craig P  [author] 29 Feb, 2016 @ 8:33pm
:)
PhyreFox 29 Feb, 2016 @ 7:34pm
It certainly kept the lights on. I mean thats what these enormous concentrators are for, right? :http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yGvzYY2iBx8/UpZyL8NMQbI/AAAAAAAAPMI/lSs5fnPx6Uc/s1600/unlimited-power.gif
