I can't find the shipping connection.

This map is really nice, just a few corrections. The Grey Havens are west of the Shire, and the Blue Mountains are North of that. Also, the Brandywine bridge is at the north end of the Marish. Apart from that is map is perfect and I love playing on it.

wow
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 Aug, 2019 @ 6:28am
Thanks! When I made the map, it was before 81 tiles by BloodyPenguin came out, and looks like I forgot to do something in this update of the map lol, so I'm really glad you you were inspired to make it the way you want it to be! :steamhappy:

Three year now that I play on this map, back and forth, still one of my favorite. The scenery is great, forests are lovely! Thank you MrMiyagi for all you do for the CS community.
(okay, one hickup on this map; in the Blue Mountain, the ore stopping at the 25 square kind of ruin the "scenery". Not a big deal, I painted the rest myself) :-)
Niteshade 28 Aug, 2016 @ 10:20am
I found them, was thinking they would be in the normal road lists lol. Going to try another test on this map also among making use other surface painter mod to modify some of my own farm land.
Always get carried away in the beginning overdoing my starter layout and budget haha.
MrMiyagi  [author] 28 Aug, 2016 @ 8:42am
Hiya, yeah the Farm Roads are made with Network Extension's national road, which is a two lane highway. This connects villages far apart really, really well, allowing you to have a Shiresque pastoral setup. I forget but maybe there are regular dirt road farm roads, too. They are found under intersections and you just rotate them to change their direction, they have lines of trees on both sides so you don't have to click until you're 99 years old
Niteshade 27 Aug, 2016 @ 3:47pm
I also grabbed the farm road options that I believe you made, not sure how to use them tho(I've been away from the game for a LONG time).

I may try it with all tiles unlocked but still start in the initial tile since I always go overboard on road setups. I'm used to using the non euro themed maps so adjusting to the buildings will be different heh. Just gotta play around with some stuff I guess to relearn everything.

It may not be a perfect rendition of the Shire, but I think the map itself looks like a great one none the less :) Good work.
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 Aug, 2016 @ 3:12pm
Hiyaa Niteshade! I had forgotten about this map. Please pardon my awful roads in this, it's one of my first :D You can decide for yourself, but I would lean towards unlocking tiles and being free to design. Another reason for that might be because the tile with the shipping connections is in the far, far corner.
I've thought about doing a series of maps directly from Tolkien's map itself. This one isn't exactly the same, so being a Tolkien fan I'm not fully satisfied with this :)
Niteshade 27 Aug, 2016 @ 1:20pm
Was looking around for some maps outside of the vanilla ones for when I came back to play again and felt this seemed like a perfect map for using alot of agriculture and non generic industry. Plus.. i LOVE Tolkien, map looks wonderful and plan to use it on one of my new test cities. Just not sure if I want to use this one with all tiles unlocked or start unlocking them normally lol.

Thanks Freya! :) It's older, but still interesting

simply awesome:steamhappy::steamhappy::steamhappy:
MrMiyagi  [author] 19 Nov, 2015 @ 2:53am
Me too! I really didn't like having to squish The West into a a space so close to Hobbiton. Anyway, this person's map might be of interest to you, although it seems there are some problems in terms of the game functionality https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=408949701&searchtext=middle+earth
And then I made a few other Middle Earth maps using the film locations in NZ, like Glenorchy, rather than the vision Tolkien had. I figure if they want they can join me in LOTRO :D
nix 19 Nov, 2015 @ 12:56am
Even so, I think that map is a bit wrong, since Lake Evendim is supposed to be north of the Shire and on the other hand, the Brandywine river is south of it. If you rotate your map that way, then the Grey Havens are in the east, which of course doesn't apply.

I am a huge LOTR nerd, excuse me.
MrMiyagi  [author] 18 Nov, 2015 @ 8:20am
Also, before After Dark, the rotation of the map was completely irrelevant, because the sun didn't move
MrMiyagi  [author] 18 Nov, 2015 @ 8:18am
Exactly, Nix. This map was made before we even knew about After Dark. It's a great annoyance to me that they have *inverted* the rotation of the Earth (lol sigh). Everyone would assume that the top of an image of a map would be the north, and the left side would be the west. They have the sun rising on the left of the image, and setting on the east. So this means that for any real world maps that I make, I have to flip them upside down so the sun rises and sets as in real life. It's incredibly annoying to me :D
nix 17 Nov, 2015 @ 3:27pm
Aren't the Gulf of Lhun and the Grey Havens supposed to be in the west?
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Sep, 2015 @ 3:35am
XD Thanks Krevky. Needs some hobbit houses and a Prancing Pony here and there
Krevky 8 Sep, 2015 @ 1:11pm
Motherofgodthismapsisawesome!
MrMiyagi  [author] 5 Sep, 2015 @ 4:01pm
Thanks TPB! I love the little tiny rivers, but seriously, I am not sure I will ever do that again! XD It was a crazy amount of testing to get everything running right.
Katalepsis 5 Sep, 2015 @ 1:20pm
I can see how much love and dedication you put into this map... amazing work, thank you! :)
MrMiyagi  [author] 17 Aug, 2015 @ 12:24pm
XD as well as the power to inflict earworm songs on people thousands of miles away. Noooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It won't get out of my head now!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Curses! XD
vineyarddawg 17 Aug, 2015 @ 11:56am
So now we can literally pave paradise and (with other mods) put up a parking lot? :-)
MrMiyagi  [author] 5 Aug, 2015 @ 7:48am
Thanks ryanc! I hope you have a good time with it!
ryanc 4 Aug, 2015 @ 10:20pm
Very nice! Even without the LOTR reference it's a fine map!
MrMiyagi  [author] 15 Jul, 2015 @ 5:49pm
Thanks, Jones.. I really liked making this one. A lot of work, though!
Jones 27 15 Jul, 2015 @ 4:38pm
so cool.
MrMiyagi  [author] 3 Jun, 2015 @ 8:29am
Glad you like it, Flux!
SpicyGaming 3 Jun, 2015 @ 8:19am
Loving it!
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 May, 2015 @ 11:22pm
Very cool! It is very much appreciated, because it helps make my maps better! Open the new version in the map editor if you need to look at the elevations on both sides, so you can terraform that into your existing city. The left side protecting the in-game area is set higher than the right, the side facing the ocean.
Rune Trantor 29 May, 2015 @ 11:13pm
Yay! More power!

If it makes you feel better, it does overflow out of the map, not into the build zone.

Since I already started the map, I am kind of out of luck for the update, so I guess I will proceed to use terraforming. :P
(I was going to, but took the pic first so you knew of the issue).
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 May, 2015 @ 11:04pm
Okay, I improved that section so that it does not create that waterfall, and I also improved the area by raising it so that the hydro dam produces 1600mw of power. Thanks again for letting me know this! https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=451783668
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 May, 2015 @ 10:02pm
So I tested it with a high dam. I thought I was being clever by adding an overflow fail-safe that would ensure any spillover would be funneled to spill outside the play area. Well, it does indeed spill over into the sea outside the play area, but it also doesn't stop. What an unexpected waterfall :D I will fix that and update. Thank you so much for letting me know!!
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 May, 2015 @ 9:29pm
Wait a minute, this is The Shire. lol... I was thinking Emerald Coast. Just woke up, sorry. Did any of the water in your first dam get into the playable square? I hope not.... let me know so I can help further, and thank you for the info and screen shot.
MrMiyagi  [author] 29 May, 2015 @ 9:24pm
Hi Rune Trantor. I'd like to try to help... Can you take another screenshot, but from further out, of this location of your dam? Doesn't have to be an image of a flood, just need to know where this location is. It looks like it might be in the wrong spot but I want to be sure where this is..
Rune Trantor 29 May, 2015 @ 7:54pm
So about that flood-proof dam...
http://images.akamai.steamusercontent.com/ugc/38624733534854093/641E06A6632746D0426E75B311333B736D15A101/

I'd like to file an issue. XD

I mean, YES, it IS making lots of energy, and that area is kind of a moot point, but it's not exactly what I was expecting. >_>

(And that's the second dam, I deleted the first one because it was worse)
MrMiyagi  [author] 27 May, 2015 @ 12:10pm
I'm so glad you like it! Oh my :D I normally am happy to convert the maps for people... it's just.. this map is insanely complex in the amount of work required. A million little streams, lots of careful tree work, painting the land... It's the most intricate map I've done to date. I guess ask me again when I'm not entirely exhausted from making the Shire :D
Do you know, you can go into the game's asset editor, take my map and do whatever you like with it, too? If you'd like to know how, let me know :)
Der_Nette 27 May, 2015 @ 11:53am
Map is Awesome i love it
One question can you make the same for not european or is this not possible
ty for the map anyway its awesome !!! :D
MrMiyagi  [author] 24 May, 2015 @ 6:38pm
Thanks @Charlieb!
Charlieb 24 May, 2015 @ 3:11pm
Amazingly done!

MrMiyagi  [author] 24 May, 2015 @ 2:04am
Okay I just updated it so that the shipping line is easier to reach. It is now just one square away from the start square.
MrMiyagi  [author] 24 May, 2015 @ 1:11am
Aha! I found that the shipping connection is very difficult (far corner square). For players who only play with 9 squares, this would be annoying. I will update it with an easier ship connection here in a few. Testing it now.
MrMiyagi  [author] 24 May, 2015 @ 12:14am
Hi @aubergine18, thanks! Yes, all connections are there, is there any problem you are experiencing? It's working so far in the game I'm playing. I will post a guide map to help locate the locations built specifically for the airport, hydro dam and seaport, since they are in set, specific locations.
leftbehind 23 May, 2015 @ 9:08pm
rail / sea / air connections?
leftbehind 23 May, 2015 @ 9:06pm
Now THAT'S a map!! Great work!
