Hi john1982, not to worry, I still get the messages years after this came out. After this map was published the devs changed the lighting significantly. Everything became brighter and glaring. Try out Daylight Classic mod, which restores some sanity to the visuals. Then, in addition I recommend this LUT to bring it even closer to real colors https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1899882743

Just a heads up - this was one of my earliest maps, and back then we didn't have any mods to be able to make nice highways. In fact, highway segments did not even snap, so you'll see a lot of uneven, ugly stuff. It's so not me anymore :winter2019joyfultearssnowman:

thanks a lot for the map :P I know i am too late for the comments. But how do you get that dark green look? Do you use any graphic modes?

Top job MrMiyagi
MrMiyagi  [author] 19 May, 2017 @ 12:10am
Hey you're right, this will be cool with cable cars! It's an old map, sorry about the inexperienced highways and rail :D
Nomad2568 18 May, 2017 @ 8:10pm
As the name may suggest, I Love this map
Seed5050 18 May, 2017 @ 5:10pm
thanks perfect for mass transit cablecars

Not sure if you'll be coming back to see the answer, sargenaldo, but just in case: what that is is a highway connection that you have to expand out to in order to use it. It's a "challenge" that I used to put into maps, but since that new error message was added in, I've stopped doing that.
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 Mar, 2017 @ 11:11am
:D Hey FullRefund, I'm still not great, but Move It! mod helps me hide everything :D
FullRefund 10 Mar, 2017 @ 9:50am
ROFL on "Miyagi can now make roads!". One of my consolations in this game was that you were not really any better than me at roads. <sigh> :p
sargenaldo 27 Jul, 2016 @ 11:53am
I love the look and feel of the map, great work. My problem is with my industry, it keeps telling me there is no outside connection. When I look at where the problem is, it is out side one of my purchased tiles. Anyone elese with this issue?
Tyrant 26 Feb, 2016 @ 9:33am
ty for the tip it works wonder as well :P
MrMiyagi  [author] 26 Feb, 2016 @ 8:43am
Hi Tyrant! Yes! You can transform it immediately. BloodyPenguin, who makes excellent mods, has one that can change not only the biome and map theme of a map you want to use, it can also change your city saves from biome to biome! Awesome isn't it? Works great. Here's the link: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=611254368
It's interesting, a lot of people like the first map I ever made. I'm sure I could improve its looks and definitely its road and rail infrastructure, but it might be a while before I could do that. Hope that helps and have fun!
Tyrant 26 Feb, 2016 @ 8:34am
love this map its so big and has alot of terrain features whilst being very open,
id love to have this map in a snowfall edition variant.
if one is in the works let me know or if you know any guides that i could use to change it myself id appriciate it.

thanks again for a wonderful map
MrMiyagi  [author] 25 Dec, 2015 @ 2:36pm
Thanks so much for sharing those screen shots, Hagron! It was really nice to see - I had never imagined it could support such a large city. Love it, especially how the nice central area with the tall skyscrapers tapers down in height so nicely!

Hi locustgate. There isn't a boreal version, but you can turn off the European buildings now, as far as I understand. I'm guessing that's why you ask? Then on top of that you can get a mod that allows you to choose from any and all buildings you have, building by building. It's Building Themes and I use it myself.
Leif 6 Nov, 2015 @ 12:59pm
Is there a Boreal version of this?
Zoor 10 Sep, 2015 @ 1:17pm
hi, just wanted to get back to you and tell you that your hydropower idea worked, when i put it a bit lower. the train problem somehow solved itself after i rebuild the railway system for the third time, so i guess i did something wrong.
MrMiyagi  [author] 8 Sep, 2015 @ 4:16am
Would help if I included the link :steamfacepalm: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DH41JiEwZV4
MrMiyagi  [author] 8 Sep, 2015 @ 4:16am
Hey there Zoor! I hope I was right about the dam? Hope my idea worked. So what I would do is watch for a train, right after it drives by the station, hit pause. Then click on the train. The little box will tell you its destination. If it says "Heading out of city" or "Heading to (city name that's not yours)", then that cargo train is okay. Many times vehicles will pass from one side of your map to the other, from border to border, without stopping. This happens all the time during the beginning of your game.
I am having a slightly different issue. Cargo trains arrive to my cargo stations, and then disappear as if they were in the Philadelphia Experiment :steamfacepalm: I think I found a related explanation here, and we need to look for something in our city setup (are industries too far? Is something odd going on with closed Commercial and or industrial?)
Zoor 7 Sep, 2015 @ 3:24pm
thanks for the response, i have another problem now regarding cargo trains, they dont seem to want to stop at my cargo train stations, they just run past. do you know anything about this also?

PS. great map, best one i have played on so far, love the mountains and nature you have made :D
MrMiyagi  [author] 4 Sep, 2015 @ 7:16am
Ah, if the water flows backwards, that means that the water spawn is sucking back the water, because it has reached the maximum water level. Construct the dam a little lower. (look at how high the water is before destroying the dam, so you know how high is too high). Then construct the new dam below that. Keep the game on pause! XD You will get a wave as the excess water flows over the top of the new dam once you unpause, but we don't want a giant tidal wave, which woud happen if you destroy the dam while the game is running
Zoor 3 Sep, 2015 @ 1:03am
i cant seem to get the hydro-power dam working at the north location, it looks like the water start running backwards into the source, any idea?
Kerry 18 Jun, 2015 @ 12:05am
Coul ddyou make a Temperate verison of this map??
MrMiyagi  [author] 12 Jun, 2015 @ 2:20am
It's nww possible to change the building type inbetween European and the base game for any map environment... here's where: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=456408505
Ozymandias 10 Jun, 2015 @ 3:21pm
Sure thing Mr M. Hopefully I don't get that map corruption bug again.
MrMiyagi  [author] 10 Jun, 2015 @ 10:28am
Hey Ozymandias... my maps should be open for anyone to be able to do whatever you like with them! Go into Tools, Map Editor, and Highland Fjord Europe should be right there for you to select. Open, hit pause, use the "level terrain" tool to bring that smooth mountain at the head of the fjord all the way down to 20 elevation (so you can still run tunnels under it), smooth the sides, and there you go! Give it a try, who knows, you might become addicted to map making, too :D
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Jun, 2015 @ 1:09pm
I can take a look at that Boobufestuu. You sure you don't want Boreal? Temperate's mountain look, to me at least, looks like somebody's cheap fabric (lol) b/c of its uniformity of pattern and odd colors. Boreal would look great and even more Scottish. But anyway, I can consider doing that if.. it's just a ton of work so you know.
PS Poland still cannot into space?
Ozymandias 9 Jun, 2015 @ 1:09pm
Would you consider making a decent sized lake at the head of the stream? Perhaps 1/4 the size of a tile. It would look very scenic, and imply a realistic rain cycle.
MrMiyagi  [author] 9 Jun, 2015 @ 1:02pm
An old fisherman once told me that there's a magical water kelpie who makes water currents there to help the city grow :D No, seriously now, there has to be water current within your beginning square, otherwise you will pollute your drinking water (it's also a requirement by the game to complete a map). I prefer to have water current as strong as possible, so that we don't need to worry about running out of water no matter how big the city gets. Sometimes I include things that aren't quite realistic, but it's for the purpose of having a functional map. You have an eagle eye, Ozy :D
iceballfunela 9 Jun, 2015 @ 12:46pm
Could you make this map unchanged except for making it playable with temperate climate?
Ozymandias 9 Jun, 2015 @ 9:51am
The small river near the starting tile - what is its source? Is is some kind of aquifer breaking the surface?
MrMiyagi  [author] 8 Jun, 2015 @ 4:22pm
LOL @Ozymandias :D
Ozymandias 8 Jun, 2015 @ 3:11pm
Another beautiful map! I look forward to ruining it with industry.
JimmpaKnight (SWE) 7 Jun, 2015 @ 6:42am
Yea thank you so much! That car was the problem :)
MrMiyagi  [author] 7 Jun, 2015 @ 5:33am
I sent you a PM JimmpaKnight, I keep having an error trying to post here. There is a possible solution for you in the paradox forums, a great place full of helpful people.
JimmpaKnight (SWE) 7 Jun, 2015 @ 5:10am
This is a very good map indeed!!! But I have a problem with all of my downloaded maps and even my own created maps. It's the transport in to the city that just stops after a few minutes and leaves the highways empty and all my stores and industry goes bankrupt. And this really pisses me off, so please if anyone got an idea of what's wrong, if it is a bug or something. This never happened before I got the new update with tunnels and European theme. Really need some help here...
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 Jun, 2015 @ 4:59pm
Sent you a friend request so you can message me directly. Have a good night, and have fun with the map!
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 Jun, 2015 @ 4:53pm
I have actually looked at Iceland before... Reykjavik looks ideal for a nice cityscape, not too wild, plenty of room, smooth hills, islands. Sure! It shall be done. Will take some time, there are two others in the works so far. Boreal, or European?
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 Jun, 2015 @ 4:41pm
Oh I absolutely do take requrests!
Thanks I will find out about that, because there's yet to be a nice one for Europe
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 Jun, 2015 @ 4:36pm
Hey PersianCats! Good to see you. Thanks for the tip... I would even like to make my own LUT... if I only knew how :D There's more already in the pipeline
MrMiyagi  [author] 6 Jun, 2015 @ 4:31pm
Hey, that's cool! Great to see how it's going. What is that wild giant building there? Also, look how nicely those bridges stay level. Great suggestion by Ozymandias I think it was.
There are so many new little areas for you to discover... have fun with it!
Hall Monitor 6 Jun, 2015 @ 3:28pm
