[Obsolete] Tiered Thorium Reactors and Refinery (old)

The refinery time feels more realistic against the newer version because it don´t eat 100k stone in "3" seconds it need a bit until you got one Thorium produced. Nice side effect that you must produce the Thorium, there are no Ore generation like in the newer version that mess up with the world.

The only thing that isn´t working here is the small reactor for large grids. It´s a black box. I hope that nukeguard will lay hands on for this great mod. The rest works fine even after this long time. Some minor things like refinery dont show up in g-menu itself and must be searched, are things that doesn´t really bothering. If you dont want an Survival Impossible reactor that you get with the new version, because it removes all Uranium from your world, this mod is a fully recommendation. It is literally a "balanced" version against the newer one.

Sincerely, a german Space Engineer

Hi again Nukeguard, i hope you read the comment that i left at your "new" Tiered Thorium Mod.
I think you nailed it with this mod(stage) and in my opinion it´s not obsolete it´s a balanced version of your newer one.

This is an great reactor mod that closes the gab between wind, solar and battery power and the vanilla uranium reactors or others like the Arc Reactor Mod. And even more they are still usefull after you managed to get the other reactors because there are 1x1 reactors that can be set when an big vanilla or Arc Reactor are to big and provide more power then a vanilla small reactor.

That there are no tier three and four like in the "new" version aren´t that bad, they feel to overpowered. The used amount of ice and stone are good to go and allows you the use of stone/gravel sifter mods if you want.

Thanks, sorry I must of been too tired to notice that
nukeguard  [author] 11 Apr, 2017 @ 8:19pm
@Emily, pls use this one https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=805678675 this mod is now obsolete, and I will only be updating the new one.
Mister Claunek 11 Apr, 2017 @ 7:21pm
got an issue with the non + reactors being purple cubes and not having a model.
Zankar 24 Nov, 2016 @ 8:38am
Woot! Thx for the update.
nukeguard  [author] 23 Nov, 2016 @ 10:34pm
Updated, new models and refinery
Zankar 22 Nov, 2016 @ 6:22pm
Oh nice.
nukeguard  [author] 22 Nov, 2016 @ 3:31pm
I actually have a thorium refinery all set up, just need to make a model for it to add to the models i have for the reactors and then I'll have an update for this.
Zankar 21 Nov, 2016 @ 11:52am
No he wouldn't. He could just use Keen's arcfurnice model and just rename it thorium refinery. Then later if he wanted to make custom models he could. But if he can something does need to be done about refiners making gravel when there is ice in there. Having to sit there and baby sit the refinery is kinda lame. I love his tiered mods but with this gravel issue I would rather give myself the thorium and iject a large chunk of rock and some ice into space as an offering to the clank god for my "gift" of thorium.
TangerineSpaceRaptor 18 Sep, 2016 @ 10:28am
It unfortunatly is not that simple. He would have to make a model, do 3d modeling stuff that is a pain, code it, and implement it.

why not make a special machine to refine to make sure that there will not be recipe conflict?
Spock The Builder 4 Jul, 2016 @ 6:53am
Ya, the fuel disappeared a few days ago or more, I just couldn't figure out what was wrong since the reactors still work in creative.
nukeguard  [author] 4 Jul, 2016 @ 6:47am
currently working on this mod, new models incoming soon, while testing those I'll look into this.
Spock The Builder 3 Jul, 2016 @ 8:31pm
OH NO. Liquid Thorium is no longer available and even disappears from inside t2 reactors I had already placed. What happened?
BigWolfChris 20 Apr, 2016 @ 4:55pm
Hi Nuke, I'm also having the issue of refineries suddenly turning stone back to Gravel after it's processed an amount of stone, can't really give any numbers, since it seems to happen always when I'm not looking
nukeguard  [author] 18 Apr, 2016 @ 11:54am
Great!
freelancer AL 18 Apr, 2016 @ 9:37am
"-increased production time to offset decreased raw materials" fixed my issue thanks!!
freelancer AL 14 Apr, 2016 @ 4:21am
I've had similar issues as steric_hindrance. Although I can only add 1000 stone at a time. Anything more than that continues to make gravel instead. Workaround is shift/ctrl stone in with the ice. slow and tedious but it works.
I've only just downloaded this mod and I really like it; and your reactors. thanks.:steamhappy:
TangerineSpaceRaptor 10 Apr, 2016 @ 4:14pm
Please turn down the amount of stone required for thorium. The consumption rate is ridiculously high. Good mod though.
nukeguard  [author] 12 Mar, 2016 @ 3:06am
will have to take a look at this
steric_hindrance 11 Mar, 2016 @ 9:24pm
I've been having a problem with my Thorium production recently (this didn't happen in the past when I've used this mod). I have a set of dedicated thorium refineries, stocked with 10 thousand kg ice. Conveyors route stone to these refineries. When active, they produce about 1kg of Thorium and then switch over to Gravel. As far as I can tell, they don't switch back to Thorium unless I manually move the Stone out and back in. Then it's another ~1kg of Thorium and more gravel. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Dakroth 16 Feb, 2016 @ 5:28pm
Would be excellent. :D
nukeguard  [author] 16 Feb, 2016 @ 3:23pm
i did make refinery of thorium lower, but maybe abit too low, that does seem a bit much, maybe i'll cut the time by 30%-40%
Dakroth 16 Feb, 2016 @ 12:40pm
*edit for clarification* I have four refineries dedicated to thorium production and have had the rest switched over for about eighteen of the last 48 hours, otherwise I would have had perhaps double the amount, but no other resources
Dakroth 16 Feb, 2016 @ 12:38pm
So I like this mod, but I'm having an issue... I need enough thorium to keep four T1 smalls online, but thorium refines slower than platinum. I like that it isn't super abundant like Uranium (where one deposit lasts the entire game,) but perhaps the current rate is a little too slow? I'm having to switch all 19 of my refineries over to producing thorium, in addition to increasing the refinery speed to x6, and I've only managed to get 20kg in two days. Thoughts?
The_Arms_Dealer 13 Dec, 2015 @ 11:42am
ok thanks
nukeguard  [author] 13 Dec, 2015 @ 11:40am
I just have not updated the image yet
nukeguard  [author] 13 Dec, 2015 @ 11:39am
the power outputs are what you stated, they are 540MW and 1080MW for the Large Large Reactor
The_Arms_Dealer 13 Dec, 2015 @ 11:35am
so do you plan on changing the power outputs or are you going to keep the current one's?
nukeguard  [author] 13 Dec, 2015 @ 11:33am
You are correct, the image I did not update. The actual power output is correct, this image was from before Keen beefed up the power output.
The_Arms_Dealer 13 Dec, 2015 @ 8:30am
the normal large reactors have 300MW of power, if the tier 1 of your reactors are 1.8 times the normal output that would make it output 540MW not 185MW or power, then for the next one that should be 1080MW or 1.08GW of power.

Unless the pic is comepletly outdates the numbers are comepletly wrong man whats going here?
nukeguard  [author] 24 Nov, 2015 @ 5:47pm
I need to rebalance a bit
joemorin73 24 Nov, 2015 @ 5:33pm
This mod was great preplanets, but now feels over powered on planets.
nukeguard  [author] 15 Nov, 2015 @ 9:28pm
Stock vanilla, once ice is gone from refinery, it then produces gravel, or if stone is gone ice will just sit there until it is moved to a tank or generator manually.

The only way ice goes to the refinery is when it is either placed there or mined and drawn there, otherwise it should go to your tanks or generators.
Ulfsark 15 Nov, 2015 @ 7:10pm
That's interesting; I didn't know that was possible. Now, I assume, if no ice is present, it then processes the stone into gravel? How would you create gravel if there is ice in the system? Is it a special refinery available only through the mod, or is this being done through the stock vanilla?
nukeguard  [author] 15 Nov, 2015 @ 6:39pm
the refinery takes the stone and ice and makes thorium, they have to both be in the refinery for it to work, the refinery will not pull ice from the tank or generator.
Ulfsark 15 Nov, 2015 @ 2:37pm
I'm curious as the ...internal workings of this; you can set a reactor block to require two types of fuel to work? Or does the refinery take the ice and stone and make the thorium? I didn't know that was possible, except through the assembler.
nukeguard  [author] 14 Nov, 2015 @ 7:38pm
they work as described, I use them in my survival worlds and they pull the fuel from refineries.
Ulfsark 14 Nov, 2015 @ 5:53pm
I noticed there's mention of a bug with the conveyor system, back in early October. Is that bug still present, or does this work as described?
Greisyn 14 Oct, 2015 @ 4:24am
I would like 6 point access on these for easier implmentation in Conveyor systems and access on all sides please.
Thank you for the great thruster mod saved me with the rebalance on mass/speed. :steamhappy:
Lol @michel.robichaud
michel.robichaud 11 Oct, 2015 @ 10:09am
Oh and can you make colored ones too? (just joking :steamhappy:)
Epic mod
nukeguard  [author] 4 Oct, 2015 @ 6:13pm
Thank you Pavel, I will look into this issue, it had worked last time I had tried, I may need to change something or add a config file for making the fuel a energetic ingot, that might be the cause.
Pavel Starag 4 Oct, 2015 @ 5:56pm
Hello,

I just have to say that your mod is great. Been using it in my survival worlds and it makes building bases that much better with the extra energy. The reason why I am writing this comment is because the reactors do not seem to work with the vanilla conveyor system. I have tryed multipled configurations and every time your reactors just will not connect. They will show up in the inventory of the system but you cannot place or pull out uranium unless directly accessing the reactor. I have only tried this with small ships but I thought I should bring it up. Maybe you already have a solution to the problem or it is just on my end.
Q_meets_the_doctor 14 Sep, 2015 @ 12:57am
cant wait for planets for the recipe to change for Thorium
MrFox 10 Sep, 2015 @ 4:32pm
i like my ARC Reactors better, higher output but costlyer to build as well, example an Arc reactor at 50X is not to bad to make, even the fuel isnt to bad for me. but its got 30GW output so yea, boost your outputs dude
creamerl1015 2 Sep, 2015 @ 1:19pm
I like the ratios for the thorium reaction. stone is worthless except for camo and gravity cannon projectiles, so it's great to have something else to use it for. If you are getting your oxygen from ice you will still have enough left over to make a lifetime of thorium.
nukeguard  [author] 29 Aug, 2015 @ 1:01pm
@Master Obelawe, did you mean "Are we really using thorium in game?" if so, then, yes. You have to refine stone and a little ice to make thorium ingot to use in these reactors.
Laffyistired 29 Aug, 2015 @ 12:41am
hi im new but let me ask you noob question we realy using the thorium in game ?
nukeguard  [author] 26 Aug, 2015 @ 10:24am
try and delete mod and redownload it, smallship small reactor output is 1.8x normal power output, which is 500kW output for normal, and 1.8mW for rank 2
