I wonder, could we play theocracies with this, if we removed game over screen for them somehow?
Ethoral 16 Apr, 2020 @ 2:25am
The mod's abandoned, but should work still with the latest version. However, you do inherit your previous ruler's titles if they had any.
NUAZYISH 29 Jan, 2020 @ 7:43am

Bad Poisonx 27 Aug, 2019 @ 10:05pm

Kisigi 12 Apr, 2019 @ 8:45pm
The last time I tested, the heir who is not of the dynasty, after I died he appeared as a adopted son now in my tree, has that changed? now I'm just being teleported to his dynasty or is he still coming to mine as adopted?
Blyatorusin 20 Feb, 2019 @ 5:38pm
It works perfectly with the current version of the game, tested using just this mod.
Osariusz 13 Jan, 2019 @ 12:04am
Yup, it doesnt work with the last update
Baker 3 Dec, 2018 @ 3:54pm

Osariusz 25 Nov, 2018 @ 8:44am
Does it work in multiplayer?
tsf4 9 Jun, 2018 @ 9:21am
You cannot select your heir, but whenever you would game over due to your dynasty ending, you play as your last chars "heir" (councillor/courtier usually)
moist_potatoe 8 Apr, 2018 @ 10:35pm
How do I use this mod? Where do I select my heir?
Kellen 12 Nov, 2017 @ 8:39pm
@Fine Here's a mod for theocracies: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=582483573 Note that it has this mod built in.
Fine 6 Jul, 2017 @ 10:13am
Would this also enable playing as republics and theocracies?
Metal Izanagi 26 Mar, 2017 @ 2:13pm
Heya, I had a question regarding integrating your mod into "Divine Intervention (Playable Papacy)" as your mod is currently the only way around a base game bug that is affecting certain titles when the pope holds them. Added you as a friend, and I'd love to talk with you about this. If not, it's all good; if nothing else I'll link to this mod in the change notes and description of Divine Intervention, that way anyone wanting to get around the bug can subscribe to your mod as well.

Please can Manual Download, my workshop is broken
meowtainspring 5 Mar, 2016 @ 8:23pm
Whenever you play as a republic, you end up inhereting the trade posts, and the patrician titles of the previous ruler. Any way to fix this? It would be much appreciated.
Cigs FC 10 Jan, 2016 @ 12:24pm
manual DL?
Uncle Robard 29 Oct, 2015 @ 12:14am
What Version of the game does this work with? It Doesnt seem to be working for me any Tips?
(PIG)Mikey 24 Oct, 2015 @ 9:27pm
it would be sweet if you could choose to become an adventurer and set off on an invasion!
Bakhan 21 Sep, 2015 @ 2:07pm
Can you add a direct dl Link of some kind? preferrably not Paradox Forums? I'm having the same kind of problem as alwozny, but I dont like using the forums.
kookusking  [author] 10 Sep, 2015 @ 4:09pm
Try relogging steam and relaunch the game (it is a steam issue not a mod issue if it isn't downloading)
TK421 8 Sep, 2015 @ 5:50pm
Hi - how do I download the mod? I have subscribed and it doesn't automatically download. I also don't see a link to manually download. Thanks.
kookusking  [author] 31 Aug, 2015 @ 6:37pm
No way to play landless characters right now (that I know of). I believe the HL patch destroyed it, and IIRC that is one of the big issues with the AGOT mod.

Kravock 30 Aug, 2015 @ 7:38am
I suppose there's no way you could make it so you could play as a landless courtier, am I right?
AlexanderRM 27 Aug, 2015 @ 11:22am
Just my two cents but if you mean getting titles revoked for rebellion or the like, it seems like that's intended to be a game over. On the other hand I guess there's no reason not to implement that, if anyone doesn't like it they can just quit after they lose.

@ The issue with elections: That does sound annoying most of the time, but it also gives you the option of a more EU IV-style playing as a Republic or Elective Monarchy. Which is kind of weird and less realistic than the CK2 play (you should never deliberately lose elections), but it's kind of a cool option... on the other hand I'm assuming that means your money, demense, and retinues all go to your dynastic heir while you play a guy with different ones? That would certainly be weird.
kookusking  [author] 25 Aug, 2015 @ 3:54am
Thanks for that report, it was something I did not consider. I can add some patrician checks (as well as elective) in the next version. Someone also made a post on the official forums asking if I could add the functionality to when you get titles revoked with no heir so I will also be trying to add that in.
Paradux 24 Aug, 2015 @ 3:18am
This mod works very well and really is light weight. I think you found a very interesting and simple way to achieve your goal.

However, there is a small problem I encountered: If your primary title goes to someone who is not your dynasty, but some smaller titles do (= no game over, predominantly in republics when losing the election), you control the character who inherited your primary title. I am not sure how to fix this, but it is an issue which mainly occurs with patricians or large elective monarchies
kookusking  [author] 17 Aug, 2015 @ 4:56pm
Theocracies being unplayable will override this mod, meaning game over. The only way to play theocracies is to create a feudal government type with temples as primary holdings and recode the titles and events to reflect it. It is something being worked on in my overhaul mod,
AlexanderRM 13 Aug, 2015 @ 1:23pm
Interesting- is there any way this mod could be used or modified to allow the player to play the rulers of Theocracies or other non-inherited titles? I don't know much about the way the game is coded but it seems like this overcomes the main obstacle to doing so.
Osariusz 4 Aug, 2015 @ 12:07am
Good job! I test it!
Dark Anakim 3 Aug, 2015 @ 2:00pm
amazing
thicc bricc 3 Aug, 2015 @ 6:54am
Damnit, they found me.
Fen'Harel 3 Aug, 2015 @ 4:06am
@kazenar You suprise me, Kitty-King.
thicc bricc 2 Aug, 2015 @ 9:55am
@lil_unz I know that method but I meant like when you die and game over but a really cool world was created through alternative events (like a byzantine empire that reaches into middle Perisa) would be cool to play in AFTER you game over, and it takes you back to the character selection screen.
@Kookusking Thanks for your reply and I'm really impressed with your intuition.
kookusking  [author] 2 Aug, 2015 @ 4:27am
@kazenar It is something I am trying to code (but very very complicated).
TheLilUnz [42 Commando] 2 Aug, 2015 @ 2:39am
@Kazenar If you want to continue playing as another character a very easy way of doing it would be to have this mod installed so you don't game over, then open the console (` key for UK/EU, ~ for US, always the key left of 1) and type "charinfo 1", find the character ID for the guy you want to play and type "play CharID"
thicc bricc 1 Aug, 2015 @ 6:19pm
I like the mod, I wish the author best luck in acomplishing his goals.
However I would like to know if it's possible to make a mod which allows you to continue playing as another character (i.e i die with no heir as Hispania so i choose to play as Iceland instead) that is unaffiliated completely with your current court or lands. Perhaps you can add it in as a toggleable decision in this mod? Or even go as far as to allow Ruler Designer to be used again?
kookusking  [author] 1 Aug, 2015 @ 7:48am
Just a little extra information, I will be uploading another minimod (sometime this coming week) that works with this one which adds cadet branches. When used with this minimod it will allow you to continue your play and help weaken the massive blobbing in general.
Praetor Apple 1 Aug, 2015 @ 7:31am
That is unfortunate but thank you for your reply and best of luck to you with your project
I look forward to it and am pumped to be able to choose my heir personally.
kookusking  [author] 31 Jul, 2015 @ 3:23pm
Unfortunately there is no play character command in the scripting language so no such event is possible. I am close to making you able to select a ruler to play as when you die, but not quite there.
Praetor Apple 30 Jul, 2015 @ 7:02pm
Would it be possible for you to be able to create a menu choice where I could just click on it and instantly play that character since I am too lazy to use charinfo look up the number and go into console to type in the commands. Or if such a mod already exists could you point me in the right direction. I like being able to roleplay from different sides and hate having to repeatedly go through the console command process. Thank you for taking the time to peruse my request and keep up the great work looking forwawrd to even more work from you. :)
Kane 30 Jul, 2015 @ 6:17pm
All I will say is that I love the mod but I don't think I will use it.
kookusking  [author] 30 Jul, 2015 @ 3:21pm
I think theocracies could be made playable with a new feudal government type tweaked to fit the normal theocracies succession rules. While we are currently able to make governments we are very limited as modders to actually assign them via history. Unfortunately this means I couldn't do a universal version and it would ultimately have to be mod/vanilla specific if it could be done. I am on good terms with the lead of AGOT (I have permission to incorporate elements into my overhaul mod on the official forums) so maybe for a sub mod.

@Oxcgen - This mod adds a single feature which is to allow you to continue playing with non-dynastic heirs (so you won't get a game over if your dynasty dies off). It is a totally automated procedure so you continue playing as normal.

simple ideas are the work of geniuses
Holden Ennis 30 Jul, 2015 @ 9:07am
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I always thought it was so stupid that you can't play just because you don't have a dynasty member as heir! I mean, why can't your imporant general or governor succed you?
mooosin 29 Jul, 2015 @ 6:30pm
If you somehow get into contact with the creators of AGOT. They could probably help you with theocracies as like they did with the nights watch. Not 100% they would help but its a thought
Marx' Left Testicle 29 Jul, 2015 @ 1:41pm
I agree with matthew, playing as theocracies would be awesome.
Kellen 29 Jul, 2015 @ 11:00am
wow, this is amazing. @matthew i agree, he should definitely do that if he can.
