I can say after nearly 3 years of trying to figure out the totally nonexistant hula doll situation (located 3 times), the extra portal trigger, and the room that totally doesnt exist with the singular light in the center, that I failed to uncover "nothing".

Still love the map, the ambiance noises help me relax.
Boofin' 7 Aug, 2023 @ 6:46pm
Thank you for the memories.
Rob Martens  [author] 7 Aug, 2023 @ 3:49pm
Oh, damn, I've only heard a handful of people say they'd played the old one back in the day. Time flies, alright! Can't believe it's already been 8 years since I uploaded this new version, too. :urist:
Boofin' 7 Aug, 2023 @ 1:32pm
I remember downloading this map off fileplanet along with gmod v7a, can't believe it's been 18 years.
JulesIceRaver 16 Nov, 2022 @ 3:46pm
Now I know I'm missing a portal, but how to get it is what I should be thinking about.
JulesIceRaver 16 Nov, 2022 @ 2:00pm
I'm gonna brutally murder this damned hula doll.

Also the map still holds up pretty well to this day :WhiteWolfHappy:
fishistix 26 Jan, 2022 @ 7:38am
Love the damn mod. I have basically all the main games installed, so i can get anything now.

Thanks, guys, glad to hear it! I'd hoped the level would be fun even without the unmentionables, but to see somebody get a team together and actually enjoy themselves digging into it all? I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

I always wanted to get back to Gmod with more maps, but life happens and one gets distracted. Most of my level design has been for singleplayer HL2 and more recently Quake, but never say never! I am extremely sluggish, and years away doesn't mean I won't be back.
Spce General 2 Mar, 2020 @ 2:51pm
Same as Josh, I had a great time finding absolutely no secrets at all.
Lyo 2 Mar, 2020 @ 2:48pm
Spent some time with a few friends today and I think we got most of the hidden fun stuff. We really had a good time figuring it all out! I'd definitely love to see more like this.
Lyo 24 Feb, 2020 @ 4:03am
Holy cow, never thought I'd see a sequel to this old map. The original has many fun memories attached to it.
LUWEEGEE 2 Dec, 2019 @ 5:13pm
so you gonna tell us the secrets now?
Rob Martens  [author] 1 Dec, 2019 @ 2:26pm
Any time, friend; I'm always happy to help snip the threads tenuously binding one's perception to the material universe.
NuclearPotato 30 Nov, 2019 @ 2:36pm
this map genuinely made me think about what can truly be considered reality, thanks
feather3d 8 Jul, 2019 @ 9:21am
Now I'm wondering if this can be called an ARG.
I mean, you play the game... but theres a game,... inside that game?
Whatever

Also, apparently knowing Gmod's lua API really helps :steamhappy:
Rob Martens  [author] 8 Jun, 2019 @ 6:57am
Secrets? What secrets? I have no idea what you're talking about. Nope. None whatsoever. Not a clue. :lunar2019piginablanket:

The workshop lets you subscribe to your own addons, and that's how you test that they're working, so I'm subscribed to this map myself; testing it a few minutes ago I found it showed up in "sandbox" as expected, and the map loaded without issue, so I'm not sure exactly what might be wrong for you.

You might want to just try unsubscribing and resubscribing. I imagine you might need to manually delete SteamApps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\addons\phys_collapsypants_473212165.gma after unsubscribing, if that doesn't happen automatically.

If that doesn't work, maybe check the console to see if there are any errors that mention collapsypants, or anything that looks like it might be related to this map? Or, for that matter, related to addons in general, in case you have other issues that might affect this. I'm sorry to say I'm not an expert troubleshooter when it comes to Garry's Mod.
Greenjoe12345 30 Sep, 2017 @ 2:15pm
the map's not showing in my list, can you help please?
Rob Martens  [author] 27 Aug, 2017 @ 6:56pm
The question might reasonably become "why release a map like this if you know it can't run well on everyone's computer", and the answer is just that I wanted to try something crazy. Push the engine as far as I knew how to do it, get "good enough" performance on most players' systems, and have something unique as a result.

Also, to be completely honest I expected that most people playing a map like this would be doing it locally, on a listen server, just to screw around with physics. The scenario of connecting to a distant dedicated server running the map, and dealing with all the connection issues that come along with that, is something I wasn't focused on, primarily because, as I said, I just really, really wanted to make a map like this, Garry's Mod seemed like the place to do it, and worrying about real world network performance would necessitate cutting basically all of the features that make the map the least bit interesting.

I'll try to do better next time, if there is one.
Rob Martens  [author] 27 Aug, 2017 @ 6:56pm
Unowninator, sorry about the lag, but I don't think there's much else I can do. One of the early updates I pushed out after testing was a performance fix, and it helped the ring significantly, but something this extreme can only run so well in Source (i.e. Havok). I don't think there's much, if anything, left that I can improve in that respect.

I'll keep revisiting the map now and then, poking around to see if I can fix anything, but I can't make any promises. Please accept my apologies! I know how much more fun this would be if it ran better. :(
Rob Martens  [author] 27 Aug, 2017 @ 6:55pm
Thanks, Bleach! I don't know if it's really underrated, but I'm proud of the level, so I appreciate the sentiment.
Unowninator 26 Aug, 2017 @ 9:08am
Good map, but bad lag. I wish that was fixable. :/
BleachGrenade 2 Aug, 2017 @ 6:49pm
This is one of the most underrated maps in :gmod:Mod.
beet eater 25 Jul, 2017 @ 2:42pm
but the other ones are shit
Rob Martens  [author] 25 Jul, 2017 @ 2:05pm
Thanks, mighty oof! There are plenty of physics maps available for Garry's Mod, just search for "phys" in the maps section of the workshop and you should get no end of results. Even the worst of them is fun to screw around in, there's just so much crazy shit you can get into with the Havok engine.

Thanks to the last few comments who enjoyed the map, too! I'm sorry I haven't kept up with replies to people, I've just been preoccupied with being extremely handsome, funny, and popular.
beet eater 24 Jul, 2017 @ 9:58pm
more maps like this please dear god
Blaugh 5 Jul, 2017 @ 6:52pm
This is actually pretty neat.
Gears 12 Jun, 2017 @ 4:49pm
@webber try it. you will soon realize there is more to the map! *cough cough go out of bounds cough cough*
Super Ninja Fat 19 Apr, 2017 @ 2:45pm
looks neat!
Rob Martens  [author] 21 Jan, 2017 @ 3:27pm
Grumpy, the wheel is on top of the pipe, right where it first comes up out of the ground near the foundation. Sorry it's hard to spot, but I needed a place for it that was close enough to be convenient, but out of the way so players and vehicles wouldn't easily get hung up.
COOL master_9 21 Jan, 2017 @ 9:07am
I cant seem to find the flood Valve Wheel, or mabey im just blind.
Rob Martens  [author] 20 Jan, 2017 @ 6:28pm
Glad you're enjoying the map! For the record, I'm not one to leave half-baked experiments in my released work. Perhaps the key to those "capsules" you speak of would be revealed by paying careful attention to your surroundings. Concrete observation is important if you wish to appreciate the gravity of the situation.
Lands Gretel 20 Jan, 2017 @ 3:11pm
Are there any hidden features on this map?
I played with explosives for a while and suddle some kind of "escape capsules?" spawned around the pillars and a new button too, wich makes the whole structure fly up in the air.
I can't get it to trigger other than with shit ton of explosives tho. (At least I haven't found anything yet)
And I also found some sort of an ice cave that is spiraling down in the skybox and I'm not sure if this is some hidden extra area or something the creator of this awesome map experimented with and just let it in.
I'm asking because there is nothing related to this in the description and I'm happy for some awnsers c:
Anyways, really awesome and fun physics map!
COOL master_9 12 Oct, 2016 @ 5:55pm
oh i get it
Rob Martens  [author] 12 Oct, 2016 @ 5:02pm
I'm quite sure I have no idea what you're talking about. None whatsoever. Maybe you saw a weather balloon? Or swamp gas, that's probably it. You were hallucinating.
COOL master_9 12 Oct, 2016 @ 4:30pm
whats with the spooky pit and the empty ice room
Rob Martens  [author] 7 May, 2016 @ 10:55am
Thanks, kearney! It still amazes me to hear anyone remembers the first one, let alone likes it.
xXThe_BenedictXx 27 Apr, 2016 @ 2:56pm
LOOKS GREAT i am a fan of the original one:steamhappy:
Rob Martens  [author] 25 Mar, 2016 @ 3:27pm
Sorry, Leonard, but I'm scraping the limits of what Havok will let me do comfortably in Source as it is, and after the tower and the giant ring, I'm afraid making that building destructible would be a bridge too far performance wise. I really only added it as a bit of visual interest, a fun little out of the way surprise for anyone who happened to find their way down there, not so much for any substantial gameplay.

And hey, it's not totally useless: with no shopkeep around, you get free souvenirs! :D
LozHenge 24 Mar, 2016 @ 7:20pm
Souvenir shop is sadly indestructable. Can you make it destructable (If it is not too much of a hassle)? It's completly useless and only benifits those who even notice it, but hey, if I noticed it!
Soviet_Hibiki 4 Jan, 2016 @ 2:23pm
Hmm...?Maybe make more space and create some buildings like this.
Anyway,This is one of the best "_Phys" maps!
Rob Martens  [author] 4 Jan, 2016 @ 2:03pm
Thanks! I don't know how many more maps like this I have in me, but I appreciate the kind words.
Soviet_Hibiki 4 Jan, 2016 @ 11:24am
Cool!
Please,More maps and buildings with uttons like here!

That valve wheel is on top of the pipe itself, right where it dips into the ground as it heads toward the foundation. I needed to put it some place close enough to get to quickly, but not have it get in the way by being something players or vehicles would get hung up on. I'm not exactly thrilled with where it is, but I felt like this was the best compromise. Sorry it's so hard to find, but I'm happy to hear you like the map anyway!
