I plan to use it again for a longer lasting city someday, I loved it! =)
Assets (trees, props, custom buildings) do not count in this game as mods. Only things that alter the game's code are considered mods. Here's how to double check before you start: Load the game. Click Content Manager. Click the tab called Mods. Be sure nothing there has any blue squares. They should all be disabled, even default mods that came with the game.
Hope that helps! :)
There is a mod you can use, though. It's still working and I use it often. Environment Changer mod by BloodyPenguin will allow you to use any theme with any map, mix and match. Enable it and you will see all choices of map environments and themes. in new drop down menus https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=611254368&searchtext=environment
It didn't come out until 2016, so I couldn't have included it. I'm glad you mentioned it, though, because I had not seen it before - it's very nice and I would have used it during the latest map update. Added it to my favorites, and I'll use it in any future updates or new maps :)
By the way, you can use the handy mod Prop It Up to replace all instances of any particular tree with another variety of tree you choose. It's awesome for issues like this!
So now I have the map, all terrain as well as water is present, no floating (and also no sunken) roads and tracks any more (the latter happens if you download the dependencies, but do not activate the mods)...
Greetings, sic
In the end, I chose to keep TPB's mod running along with this theme. Works like a charm!
As much as I love the look of the map WITH this theme, without it it looks rather dreadful, to be honest. xD
It finally worked! Thank You for having the patienst and using your own time to walk me through it!
Is that what you needed? So sorry about leaving that out! Then what you do is open the game, from the main menu click "content manager", it lists maps, assets... on the left. Click mods, which I think is the last. Scroll down past the game's standard mods and you will see the TTR mod. You have to click the green button to turn it on, a warning will pop up.. it's up to you to decide if you want to allow the mod code to change the game. This one seems okay... and I have VERY few mods. The more you add, the more possible problems you could run into, but this works great. The rest of the directions are up above, but if you get stuck anywhere, let me know :)
Can someone find or write me a guide on how to set that up to get the desert textures?

Thank you so much for sharing these... it really makes it all worth it :)
Don't know what map type you like, but if you'd ever like a specific location, I'll be glad to make one for you!
