I don't think Mass Effect mods are dead though - Someone on the Nexus is doing races, 2 people on the forums and I myself am going to get back to working on major races/factions as well as mods and shipsets.
I for one might be able to base some of what I do on these mods so at least they're not the final itteration that can't be added to ever again.
I still encourage you to try doing stuff with the mercenary and smaller factions :D
Here is my plan for the mod:
Mass Effect races and factions (essentially completed, just have to figure how to get them properly integrated into a mod)
Mass Effect resources (Element Zero, paladium, platinum, Iridium)
Tech Tree Modification (To accommodate for Mass Effect techs/resources)
Mass Effect Star Names
A proper Mass Effect map with starting positions, correct star system names, and (crosses fingers) mass relays (possibly need to use wormholes to emulate this)
Notice that I am not doing custom ships. The reason for this is that I find ship design in GalCiv III to be really cumbersome and frustrating. After trying to make the ME ships before, I have decided that it's more trouble than it's worth and I couldn't get the ships to look how I wanted. If someone would like to take up this aspect of the project, that would be great.
