But the map didn't feel too skewed towards 6v6 meta classes, as Engineers and Heavies had areas to establish solid defensive positions in, especially the central hotel lobby behind the point. Pyros and Spies had side buildings to ambush people in. Snipers could keep jumpers on mid in check, but there was enough cover to break long sightlines, so from what I remember I didn't constantly feel sniped from all angles. Scouts could be a nuisance, but hey what's new.
Disclaimer. I'm not a comp league player myself, so these are just my personal opinions, from the point of view of my 3 years younger and less experienced self filtered through what I have picked up about map design and competitive mindset since then.
The map also lends itself to beautiful screenshots against the backdrop of the holiday resort and beach. (I used it as backdrop for the Medic bathrobe misc that was never added.)
Experienced Soldiers can get from spawn to mid with only 2 rocketjumps, apparently, from the chat comments on my old screenshots.
I've found a video from June 2014: "Solly/Demo Rollouts - koth_stallone_b2" showcase
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sITNa6qVtic
UGC competitive league used koth_Stallone_b2 for 4v4 matches back in summer 2014, so it has been played competitively.
Mid area is a bonanza for jumping classes due to its openness and 3 large roofs to land on (the gazebo over the CP and the roofed bridges to both sides). The swimming pool in front of the gazebo that houses the capture point allows Soldiers to boost their jumps for extra height. Soldiers and Demomen can also use the water to land in to ignore falling damage.

Disclaimer: I played koth_Stallone_b2 back in June 2014, in a 12v12 pub environment on the TF2Maps.net server. I played it again on a different community server later, but I don't have screenshots of that.
Stallone (from my own experience) is a map that played really well, both from the flow of battle and stable solid framerate (at least back then). The layout was clean and not confusing, but had enough flank routes. The map isn't too large, but it also didn't feel cramped. Even though the map doesn't seen to have much verticality at first glance (as the hotel balconies can't be landed on), the various roofs, ramps and walkways around mid offered some interesting height variations, with raised and lowered areas creating 4 levels of height around the pool.

There is also koth_sunset_saloon_b1r, which admittedly has no beach, but a large saloon surrounded by majestic mountains and an awesome sunset skybox in bright sunset colours bordering on the kitschy. I don't consider it a "properly playable" map though, although it has one capture point, because of its asymmetrical layout. And the sheer number of details can be hard on the framerate for some computers. It usually pops up in the map rotatation of peaceful servers like LazyPurple's.
There are a number of playable maps with beaches, but they are all custom maps. (I don't count maps made for trade servers as "playable" because they don't have objectives.) Some examples off the top of my head:
pl_Pier (that one is set in a quaint little French coastal town at night time, so no sunsets, but has sandy beaches and a working lighthouse and a funfair)
plr_Bananabay (tropical daytime map on an island, which hopefulyl will make it into the Jungle update)
After the Jungle Update, Valve should ask the community for maps and cosmetic items for a Summer-Sun-Beach update for 2018. It's been years since the Summer Camp update.
I played this map ages ago, but lately I haven't seen any servers run it.

??
Wait, yes, yes we are.
i like unordinary-ness in TF2
If you can't play it, git gud.
Amazing map for soldiers and scouts.
It basically has 2 chokepoint entrances and 1 back entrance coming out of spawn. The rollouts are terrible so if your a soldier you have to pogo a lot.
While this map does look nice, it is by far one of the most terrible to maneuver.
