Check it out! The power cut is finally over! This collection now has After Dark lights, including the windows and a few security lights for the back gardens, too...

The power cut is lasting too much mate :(

After Dark lights will take a while to add. For now, imagine there's been a power-cut ;)

Aww, this reminds me so much of Kinsale, too. That's a very good thing. Thanks for making these, and for the work in updating them. Kinsale: http://www.harbourhillfarm.com/images/resized/kinsale-street.jpg

@Ben - yes, within a week or so. I'm working through my buildings collection (I have many more unpublished buildings that I play with in my own game to work on too!)
BenandJo 25 Sep, 2015 @ 10:43am
Will you be updating these with illumination maps?
dazflint  [author] 26 Jul, 2015 @ 5:21am
So, this should be the final version of these lots (with updated LODs, textures and props). I hope that there will soon be a building theme mod that I can add to the collection, so that you can grow these houses using Boformer's building themes mod.

Just subscribe to it. It is private: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=485724689

The 1x2/1x1 plot shrinking is a feature of the building themes mod, to support themes with small buildings. The mod checks if there are any props in the backyard and resizes the plot.

Oh - if you have a nice roof texture, I'll be happy to use it!
dazflint  [author] 22 Jul, 2015 @ 2:27pm
I agree, houses like this would never have such large gardens. I only fill the spaces because I thought the 1x4 version will spawn at random. Instead You say that if I don't put any props into the 3rd or 4th squares, the lots should only spawn 1x1 or 1x2 versions? I had no idea it works like that, but I'll give that at try! :)

It'll be a few days before I can retexture them all and add LODs (I see, the auto-generated LODs aren't great - too bright and blurred). In the meantime, how can I play with the beta version of the building theme?

good job - nice - my brother's girlfriend lives in one of these
boformer 21 Jul, 2015 @ 12:48pm
The theme mod is ready for closed beta testing.

I think these roofs should be recolored: A, C, H, maybe G.

Some orange and dark grey roofs would be great. I can provide a texture if you want.

Another problem is that you filled all "backyard spaces" of the houses with props. That's a problem when you have a road block with a depth of 4 blocks: The 1x4 version will spawn and no space is left on the other side.

I also think that such a big garden is unrealistic for such a small house. I would only fill one or two of the backyard spaces, maybe like this: http://i.imgur.com/SX3yQl3.jpg

You could replace the ugly concrete ground with the "tiling" prop in the asset editor. Or just keep the default grass ground for some houses.

Another problem is that there is no LOD model. The auto-generated LOD looks really bad when you zoom out.

@Needs More Propane: For more traditional terraced houses like the ones in London, you should try out the two UK terraced housing themes, one by rik4000 and the other by macthewelshman:

They work with boformer's building theme mod: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=466158459&searchtext=theme

...Here's some very brightly-coloured Brighton terraced houses, I took a photo as I passed them today: http://i.imgur.com/zGuvsyA.jpg

@Boformer. Hi! At the moment the roofs of the houses do have some colour variations: http://i.imgur.com/pbEmugd.jpg
I don't like the very purple version in the bottom left, I will replace it. I'll also add some weathering to some of the houses...

@tiefling, yes I hope we can make a theme for the theme mod! :)
tiefling 20 Jul, 2015 @ 2:31pm
Will you be creating a theme of these to go with Boformer's themes mod?
boformer 20 Jul, 2015 @ 1:36pm
I was talking about the color of the roofs, not the shape.
dazflint  [author] 20 Jul, 2015 @ 11:18am
Hi Boformer. Thanks for getting back to me about the themed districts!

I'd been wondering about adding some weathered textures underneath the colour. So it looks like a good way to go. Also, the house versions in the workshop do have different shades of roof - the image is from my own beta version. I hope to add more images (including a couple of real-life photos).

About the brightness of colour though - some of the houses round here really are that bright. The photo doesn't do them justice! :)
Lucha 20 Jul, 2015 @ 11:14am
yes, now we need a theme mod for these buildings! they are great.
na babkax 20 Jul, 2015 @ 10:06am
Plese do a more usual look to use it in London.

3 suggestions:

1. The current color looks kind of strange. Maybe it would be better to vary the roof colors (red, brown, grey)

2. The walls look too clean. Add some texture to the wall, like cracks, bricks or dirt.

3. The colors are too bright. Tone down the colors a bit.

Also, is there a LOD model? If not, create one. Maybe you can use the same lod model and texture for all variations.

This looks like a nice reference picture: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02589/houses_2589500b.jpg
