A gyro is now 2,400 triangles - a lot more than any of these. Gyros are also likely to be placed in large quantities near each other, in theory there shouldn't be many kitchens more than a dozen pieces or so.
Examples:
End Right Cooker (Galley): 841 Triangles
Cooker Counter: 586 Triangles
Table: 500 Triangles
There's a few points as to why I did things this way though... firstly just to make things appealing and familiar to people who aren't quite so into the realism factor. Having artificial gravity as well also makes a difference... perhaps with that as an option a slightly more traditional kitchen actually becomes possible once more. Finally, I tried to space-ify a bit; if you look at the controls on things, the sink fills from beneath and has a screen to close if gravity is lossed, the hob has a magnetic lock feature, etc etc.
I think that food in space will be produced like from a 3d printer. Mainly stocked.
Of course, It could be cooked... but via microwaves and it could be great if you can do a bit of design revamp based on that in mind.
Freezers can be converted in stocked food containers, that can be split in liquids and solids for example. You can add some sort of food processor dispencers. And please if you can take care of small grid blocks they always deserve the same love of large grids (till keen's will decide to add compounds blocks on SE)
There is really a GREAT needs of furnitures of any kind in the workshop... adding more, is always welcome by the community.

The last month has been focussed heaving on texturing techniques, hoping to re-release with new and improved soon :)
I hate building large grid ships because their block size limits detailing, and the main thing preventing me from building the ships I want to build was lack of "mess/canteen" furniture for the bigger ships.
Rev 2 - small ship parts! All the parts are now available on the small ship grid. Managed to do it with no extra models to load courtesy of Shaostoul's suggestion so basically no difference on size etc. All colission meshes, construction models, mount points and the likes work on the small grid, the only thing that isn't perfect in this system is the 'center' cubs for placing them but many will hardly notice :)
Please report any bugs as frankly, I've had a few beers too many and have probably painted something bright yellow or turned a fridge inside out or something.
Thanks for submitting a proper bug report instead of the all too common abuse and thumbs down button :)
