the only difference visualy for me is a blue ring around one of the firing mechanisims. any idea why?

Its pretty good...


Of course because of the different sounds, it makes it feel like the OICW from the Leaked Half Life 2 (As in the reload and shots)

fYI several hd skins for the AR2's textures up the quality of the rifle's "shield", as well as slap the combine logo on it. You should take a look at the HD reskins at Gamebanana.
