I think this will work now. Other mods using multiblocked drones started to work a couple updates ago.

Mod does not work, guessing there was some sort of update to the game that requires the way the fighters are made to be fixed. :P

I don't get it. The hangars just spit out little core pods that drift and do nothing.
Unless I'm missing something obvious, this faction is unplayable.

Hello GATC, do you know of any dramatic changes in the code of reassembly which renders any kind of ship launched "Fighter" pretty much useless? Because I cant figure it out alone, or maybe you already have a solution?

Anybody else having an issue with the hangars? I've unlocked the bomber to make sure I wasn't crazy. When I launch fighters/bombers they just go, "bling" and float in the direction they were shot until they stop moving. So i've got a 1.6kP ship loaded down with Defence Turrets haha. I'm at the point where it's no longer fun spamming them. =(

Maethendias, this probably happens because you got a mod that completely changes the map so only mod-specific factions have territory at galaxy generation (like the star wars galaxy mod)

They need better Generators/Ship Producers, I have a small bit of drone producers but they drain LOADS of power to regen the Ships/Drones

cause it made that "spawn you in outha space" thinngy, and there are no stations in this galaxy.......

GATC :P about the post i made over on Congas mod "Simply Fighters" heres the rub:

Basically I love the idea for your mod but it could do with one improvement (also sorry for the wait revision for exams :P) the thrusters (in my opinion) produce wayyyy too little thrust. the drones are cool and all but flying around is kind of a pain. Not saying your mod is bad it just needs a very minor tweak. i did a little testing with you mod and increased the thrust ammount a tad and made playing as the faction really fun without it being over powered.

The middle two are freshly placed, but the others, after reloading, recolour to match the player's settings. It's a bit hacky, but it does keep the pieces (in this case the little photosynth triangle) out of the palette.

Annoyingly, yes, but they recolour when you reload. Fingers crossed we'll get a "not available to players" flag soon... I'm in exactly the same boat, but with the additional problem that launched blocks don't use factories, so my asteroid-based faction can't expand...

Unfortunatly, I have no way of changing the C cost, as it is dependent of the P cost.

The P cost of the hangars are high for balance reason.

Letting players make change to the design would break the balance.
Also, the whole concept of the faction is about the hangars, changing it would make it a quite generic faction.

I think I have a solution to your forbidden blocks issue.

If you change the filename of a blueprint so that the faction number is different, they can still be used in the blueprint field. Blocks in these blueprints won't appear in the upgrade menu unless they're on "proper" faction blueprints.

I haven't confirmed this for same-faction pieces, because I made all the pieces I didn't want the player to use owned by a different faction (which is just there to have the pieces and blueprints), and it works very well. The ships appear locked on the fleet screen if you try to copy them because of the blocks too.

Wow, so this is a way to have "permanent fighters" without swarming? I didn't know that core block launchers could only launch one block! How did you do this?

Well, the default ship is slow, I can realy give you that.
You are a brick wall, yes, but if you meet any of the modded faction, you won't last forever.
(see the modded faction as end-game content)
The basic weapons of the "mothership" are quite long range, so... Unless you count a 2100 range weapon as close range?
What "drone" do you use? Fighter are fast and agile, even if they are more some kind of meat shield for bombers.
The only ships that are slow are the destroyers and above. Not every ship can go 900 km/h!

For the piece C cost, unfortunatly, I can't do anything, as it's directly linked to the P cost...

The default starting ship is so slow, and doesn't allow me to add any thrusters that it may as well be a station. Playing as this faction is boring in that it's pretty much your enemy pounding on a brick wall; You (The brick wall) are so tanky that it can do pretty much nothing to you, but you're also so slow that you can't even get your pitiful weapons in range (also true for the drones). Combat is pretty much a stalemate, so I end up usually ignoring them and just continuing foward uncontested.

This faction is also very expensive in terms of unlocking new pieces, which cost thousands to get.

First thing: blocks don't appear in the player palette if the block is from an "other group"
Second thing: blocks also don't appear in the player palette is their is no ship from that group with the weapon onboard.

In this mod, the technic I've use is:
-The blocks are of the right group (so they are colored right)
-The ship have the right [number]_[shipname] (here it's 215_GATCHighGaran ...)
-In the ship definition, the command={faction=XXX} is command={faction=217} rather than 215. making the block non available for the player.

Hello GATC Im also modding this amazing game, I have a question regarding your faction, how did you make only certain blocks buildable by the player, because im trying to do deployable weapons but they just show up in the players upgrade scrren, do you have any advice?

Just noticed a huge glitch with this mod that makes it really easy. Every time I use my drones nearby a station, (right clicking) It 'deactivates' as if there was an enemy fleet attacking it, and then 2-3 seconds later reactivates and rewards me with 200c as if I had just repelled an enemy fleet, making it extremely easy to farm C.

You must not attack enemies without your complet fleet, and choose wisely your battle.
I can suggest to you to hide a bit your hangar (put it between two wall to protect from lateral attacks)

I was just suggesting it, because when you start out with not many ships, it's a serious disability if you lose your thrusters and ships and are left with only the point defense. You die slowly but surely at that point.

One thing I would suggest is some kind of other point defense, or more powerful weapon, that you could add to your ship, because once your hangars go down, it's very difficult to keep fighting, especially if you've lost thrust as well. I'd just suggest some kind of more powerful point defense, or player controlled turrets of some sort. Just a suggestion.

You can not spawn any other ally, exept with hangar.
The only permanant ship is the New Safe Heaven, a way for you to control sector.

@GATC What i mean is that i cant create ships with R as my reinforcement since some of them cost 1k or 3k p making it difficult for me to create better ship and control most sectors at the same time

hangers are drones... you need a fleet to actually get all the drones... or increase the max p in the civars(if you don't know how then there is a mod for it)
