- JFDLC support: UB change: Additionally, it provides +2 Faith per turn and a one-time +2 Piety for enemy Units killed nearby. So UB with JFDLC also provides Piety.
- Art: Slightly enlarged the alpha icon.
- Decisions: Changed Decisions text to JFD’s formatting.
- Decisions: Dropped the Missionary spawn of the Castrum Danorum Decision.
- Decisions: Castrum Danorum decision now costs Captain resources instead of Magistrates with JFDLC.
- Decisions: Tweaked costs and requirements and generally updated the code of decisions.
- Misc: Removed internal support for JFD’s TopPanel thing.
- Misc: Text: Added 10 more cities - bc reasons.
- Events: Disabled Events and added to DMS’ Events mod instead. They can easily be reactivated in the UserSettings file if one wishes to stick with Sukritact’s Events.
The word knight, from Old English cniht ("boy" or "servant"),is a cognate of the German word Knecht ("servant, bondsman").This meaning, of unknown origin, is common among West Germanic languages (cf: Old Frisian kniucht, Dutch knecht, Danish knægt, Swedish knekt, Norwegian knekt, Middle High German kneht, all meaning "boy, youth, lad", as well as German Knecht "servant, bondsman, vassal"). Also from Wiki.
By the way, how is the Ragusa civ coming along?!? ...
UA: Kings' Right Hand - +15% faster diplo ability with regards to CS's, but lose influence at a 10% faster rate. 50% chance of getting a 50% empire wide 30 turns production increase, if acting rudely (bullying, demanding tribute, declaring war etc.) towards a CS.
UU: Plague Exterminator (18 combat strength), available at Theology - have the ability to 50% heal two units within two tiles range.
UB: Medicine House, available at Engineering - replaces the Aqueduct. Keeps the Aqueduct ability, except carrying food over by 55%. Additionally provides the city in which it is build with +2 food and +1 production.
Alternative UU: The Kings' Guard (25 combat strength), available at Steel - +15% combat strength against land units. If a Kings' Guard is gifted to a CS, gain 30 influence points. Like the Longswordman it replaces, a source of iron is needed to be able to construct the unit.
Btw, I've decided to do a Struensee(+Christian VII) led Denmark civ. If you have any ideas, I'd be glad to hear them.
I'm a nighthawk, so this choice doesn't suit me at all, however I can feel it will be the right thing to do - boring, but there you have it ...
Just thougth you'd like to know that I'm about to push an update to Denmark, where the colours are changed. I haven't gone with a plain red/white theme, but a dark red/gold one, which looks pretty cool imo.
Eric XIV (1533 - 1577), who really was Eric VII or something like that, was a mad king (sorry possible Swedish readers of this post, but he was ...) who should have a UA that contain happiness obstacles to playing succesfully, while at the same time having UU and UB traits to counter his weird UA so progressing in the game would be doable.
If I remember things correctly he was quite succesful on the battlefield, but had issues on home turf as he didn't get along with the noblemen. The insanity eventually made him more and more brutal as a ruler, and in the end he was deposed of by the nobility and his brother, John, who then went on to rule Sweden. The challenge is: can such a modded civ be done, without ending up too similar to India?!? ...
I look forward to your next releases, especially the Republic of Ragusa sounds interesting, as I hope you'll get around the issue of not being able to settle other cities in a smart way. I'm not overly enthusiastic about the Venice civ, as I don't like not being in control of which buildings are being constructed in the puppeted ones - Tons of money don't make me in a better mood, alas.
About other Civs, I did release a South American Civ 5 days after this one - a Civ which has been in development for a year; The Kingdom of Araucanía and Patagonia. It's super fun to play, especially with E&D.
Other than that I have a number of projects in the works:
- The Kingdom of Egypt led by Tutankhamon (Collaboration project with Light in the East)
- The Republic of the Faroe Islands led by Tróndur í Gøtu
- A pact release of 4 Civs all still unannounced (The United Republic of T[REDACTED] | The Kingdom of R[REDACTED] | The Sultanate of S[REDACTED] | The Kingdom of B[REDACTED])
- The Republic of Ragusa
- Freetown Christiania led by Jacob Ludvigsen
If you want more info I really advice signing up on Civfanatics.com (if you haven't already). You can follow pretty much every Modder/Modding Group there.
I consider myself a rather patient man, so I can wait for your update - there's always something going on in the sphere of Civ which makes me inquire as to what mod you are up to next?!? ...
Okay, okay, I get your point; consider me convinced :p. I'll change the colours to a deep red/white-ish grey or something (can't do basic red/white - that's just too used!). But note, that it'll be at least a week before I can do the next update (which will also feature some support for an upcoming mod).
I) It is absolutely horrible to look at Danish cities in pink and white - I actually prefer the shitty brown and white hues which the game developers have given the official Danish civ, although I really don't like that brown thing.
II) As Valdemar II actually is the monarch who is associated with the legend of the Dannebrog falling from the sky, enabling the Danes to gain victory in Estonia, at least his version of the Danish civ should have the colours of red and white. The leader screen even has the Dannebrog flying over Valdes tent, so why pink?
III) Sorry bro, but there are very few Danish people with blond hair and fair skin who can pull off wearing pink clothes elegantly, especially concerning the male part of our people.
IV) In this case I will utterly veto your claim of rights with regards to free artistic expression :) ...
I'm not really understanding your comment/statement(?). But yes, this civ is fairly suited to declaring war on pretty much anyone :D
@Sup
Thanks. I don't think it says so in the infographic above, but the chance of survival when defeated, rises with the unit's level (50% at level 1, 55% at level 2, 60 at 3, etc..).
Um, is that related to this mod or just in general when playing civ5 with mods? I have a fairly capable desktop myself (i7-3770K, 32GB ram, 2xHD7970 in Crossfire) and I don't experience worse lag with this mod than in general when playing civ5 with a ton of mods - especially on giant maps with 50+ civs at once (custom DLL). But if you suspect the lags to be related to this mod, let me know.
@ianandsue5
I probably could, though as Dad of the Dragon mentions Teddyk (also known as Lastsword) has already made a pretty nice Ragnar Lodbrok mod, and to be honest, I don't really think a Horik I mod would be unique enough. But if you have some ideas for a design, head over to Civfanatics (link in description) and post them..
Well Sweyn Forkbeard may be interesting from a historical point of view, but I don't really find him different enough from Harald Bluetooth to have him represent his own civ. Canute the Great is definitely interesting!!, but I know that TarcisioCM is working on that, though not that far in development yet - I trust that project to be in capable hands. I did consider doing an Atterdag civ even before starting on the Valdemar II civ - I remember being quite facinated with him when I was younger and the siege/battle of Visby was probably what made me realize that the Danish high medieval era was just as interesting as what the rest of Europe was doing at the time.
If you should ever consider doing another Danish civ mod, I would like the leader to be either Sweyn I Forkbeard (of course some kind of nasty Danish way to a Domination victory), Canute II the Great (slightly more defensive treats with regards to war) or Valdemar IV Atterdag (a Diplomacy oriented Danish civ, but still with a sword at hand).
Also, if you're playing with Events and Decisions (link in description under Support), there's a Decision which when enacted automatically builts a Borg in all occupied Cities, both current and future ones.
@[KoL] Meltdown
Thanks. I hope you'll enjoy playing with them :D.
@Dad of the Dragon
Glad you like it - I'm Danish myself, and really felt like doing another representation of our small nation than the official one and JFD's Denmark-Norway (though I'm really fond of that as well as the Kalmar Union mod).
In regards to the colour, well I might change it in the future, but actually I don't dislike it myself - it's quite unique I think dispite being pink (very pink now that I think of it :D)..
@ianandsue5
If you head over to civfanatics (link in description) you'll find out :). Or you can just wait and see - it's extremely close to being released.
I get your point, but as [KoL] Meltdown explains it can actually be pretty useful. But granted, it does take some work to really utilize it's effect. I myself have had a lot of fun forward settling civs with a high Faith output (i.e. civs where the effect of the UA wouldn't apply), buying the Borg instantly and then just either wait for the civ in question to attack you (if they're aggresive enough) or DoW, again waiting for them to take the fight to your territory. If you manage to hold your ground and not lose the city, there's a big chance your faith output surpasses theirs giving you a huge advantage in combat strength and experience bonus when attacking them.
I know this requires a lot of work and may not always seem like it's worth it, but still, that's the idea.. (continued in next post)
I actually like it. It encourages both offensive play (with its UA) and defensive play with an extra incentive to make castles. When on higher difficulties don't underestimate the power of a castle, especially one that doesn't require walls.
Also the UU is very interesting and sounds like an amazing zerg unit.
An aggressive religious Civ - it's a solid alterenative to the Celts.
@Surfal. Thanks, I hope you'll enjoy playing the with the mod :D.
