Hoh boy, it's been more than half a year since I made this, so my knowledge is more or less gone.
What I remember and can figure out from my mod's files is: you need to have your icons as a 62x62 image, then slap them all together into an imageset (I believe GUTS can do that!). GUTS should create a spritesheet with all your icons and a .imageset file and also a .dds file. Those you need to put somewhere, mine are in "\media\ui\icons\weapons\sniper". Hope this helps somehow, otherwise I'd recommend searching the googles.

Regarding the lower dps: In my playthrough I found that a sniper rifle gives almost 100% more magic and whatever the other dmg is called compared to a bow, with like 3 times the dps. My guess is since my rifles have a pretty damn high base dmg, they ramp up your damage quite alot. Of course, skills using dps aren't effected by that. With my archer, I had the choice between a lvl 115 synergies bow with 4k+dps and my lvl 105 crazy horse with 1.8k dps. The sniper was much more dmg.
I guess it depends on the class your using.

and yes I agree- I never understood why sniper rifles were not thought about amongst the enginners of torchlight- I mean they have Royal cannons and Kriegmeister pistols? some ember-genius was bound to figure this out... -eventually :D
For me; the lower DPS compared to Xbows means my skills won't be overpowered.

I can confirm they drop. Found a couple ones myself. Even a legendary one. And thanks! I'll look into adding a cartridge release effect to the rifles. Would be cool to see a proper shell get ejected.

P.S. They are cool, the bolt action sound feels great.
I'm actually thinking about guns that have an element theme so poison, ice, electric just to make that complete; maybe Mana and Blood leach based guns too.

Perhaps use the in-game Dragon-breath recolored so {{ Dark-Red=Blood }{ Orange=Fire }{ Green=Poison }{ White-Blue=Cold }{ Dark-Blue=Shock }{ Purple=Mana }} just like the game.
I'm thinking of the guns like flamethrowers? Just a stream of elemental juice?

I'm just going to answer all questions sequentially.
1. No, it doesn't, since these rifles have custom projectiles.
2. I have 2 attack sounds, one has a reload part at the end. (I liked the bolt-action feel)
3. Oh boy. I'd like to have a proper rifle mesh for each item but I'll have to snoop around and find them. I don't think repainting will help.
4. Good idea! And they would fit with the sniper-class I have in mind!
5. Probably. Not sure how to do the continous part, but I could try (although I see no point :P).

Do Sniper Rifles have a "Reload" sound connected to the "Fire" sound?
Will you copy/repaint/add in-game meshes or provide custom meshes? For example Sui repainted many in-game meses for his mod "Reiner's Gear" and they are all pretty awesome.
And would you consider a series of Sub-machine-guns that are naturally fast but have short range? They would have to be natually low damage because there are many powerful socketables and enchantments that add range and power; I'm thinking this gun as more melee than pistols.
Also can you make a gun that shoots continous Dragon-breath and Fire-ball spell that has 50% chance to Fire-storm? Not 100% thats too many explosions that obscures the battle.
And also a gun that shoots that energy-ball multi-missile thing that the Netherlord shoots.
And a laser gun like the Dark Alchemist laser attack.

Yes I know how that works; it's actually really easy, you can find tutorials on the web.
And I'd rather not do packs on request, I'd be happy to help with a tutorial though.

And I wont add a socketable for increased attack speed, since this is a pure weapons mod and there are tons of mods out there that add lots of socketables.

You should be able then to install a socket item in the rifle that increases attack
speed so the rifle shoots a little faster.
Also, someone else made a TL1 rifle Mod, but, unlike yours, it was very hard to hit monsters
with it.

All rifles are slow. For comparison: A crossbow has a speed of 110 and a sniper has a speed of 240 (less is faster) but double the damage. I could add a fast rifle for fun but it'll have twice the dps of a xbow on the same level.
Are there any fast rifles? I've only seen slow and very slow.
Also, this works well with the Poison Burst and Rapid Fire skills.
I'm not sure to be honest. I had the problem in my game that my character was shooting and the missile didn't travel far enough, due to +range. Im trying to fix that problem, but can't seem to figure it out yet.
Your feedback would be very much appreciated on that matter!

Will the Long Range Mastery skill that the Outlander has work on this rifle?

Seeing how 70 people have subscribed now, I'd like to know if anyone has found a rifle ingame yet. It might be me playing with synergies but I've never found one (or a crossbow, that is).
