You should play Unstack instead anyways; it's the same puzzle with a better layout and - I suppose - no button glitch? I forget if that actually affects the puzzle, or if being able to get to the exit means that opening it is trivial. Some people were telling me that the exit buttons don't afect the puzzle in Unstack. Hmm.
That is, as far as I remember, placing two cubes one on another lets you jump over the red lasers without dying. Put above it another laser, so it's clearly not the solution, because I did die to it twice, while trying to do that . Also, that would be really nice if moving a cube through the laser was a part of the solution.
Anyway, loved the 'you did everything right, except one thing, now do it again' moments, which happened to me at least 20 times , but the very long faith-plate ride was very boring and by the time I got to the top, I often forgot what I wanted to do, having to remember ~12 exact steps.
I guess you gave this orange funnel a "blue" fonction in case player drag the cube from the bridge-button to the grating without thinking of sinking it no ? ;)
The anti-trap system is first confusing, I thought I had to use it as an intended path, because of the tutorial room (once crossed, it wasn't confusing anymore). The reversible funnel (in front of the stairs) misdirected me, I think the same as toncica : a "pull only" will turns the puzzle cleaner. This said, well done :)
I guess I'd endure the faith plate rollercoaster one more time with a deep sigh... while dreaming of exciting ways to travel UP. :)
As for the stairs, they make it vertically centered on the wall, I don't like having the funnel scraping against the floor. Just an aesthetic choice and that aspect better not have misled you.
Oh and the faith plate rollercoaster is ♥ing hilarious and you'll have to pry it from my cold dead hands. Maybe I'll speed it up, idk.
The blue funnel, as in, the funnel pointing at a white surface? Probably a holdover from the old solution that I had when I was working on the puzzle, i'll take a look tomorrow
Then, the staircase and the blue funnel have no function at all. For a very very long time I tried to put these to use, without success of course. That's plain misdirection of the wrong kind in my opinion. Take these things away and you still have a very clever puzzle.
Yeah, I really don't like making anti-trap situations either tbh. ButI knew I'd get yelled at if I left out the plates, so I begrudgingly put them in I suppose
About having to backtrack: Yeah I'm just not good at designing puzzles that don't do that D: The main reason you have to backtrack so far is because the position of the cubes is almost as important as your portal linkage in this puzzle, if that makes sense. I didn't want you to move a cube somewhere, then go off of the faith plates and take advantage of that cube's new position somehow.
And I don't blame you for having to watch a video :S The light bridge thing at the end is obscure. Thanks for playing ~
What I have against the map is that instead of the faith plates it was easier for me to use quickload and quicksave. That sucks out the point of the intro room which encourages you to use them. But being able to turn back without F6 and F7 is essential for any puzzle though so it's not a "flaw" you can fix.
The other thing is that (maybe it's because of the competition rules but) It's not verry fun when you make progress in a puzzle and later it turns out this progress doesn't matter and you have to start all over and do the same thing but with a tiny difference. It's fun to do one thing then a second, then a third and if there's something wrong to start from the beginning >>of the third thing<<, not from the beginning of the puzzle.
Other than that the puzzle is great. I couldn't manage to solve the whole thing on my own and looked for a hint in RectorRocks' video which gave me the feeling of being stupid - the good kind though ;)
My solution . Is that more of the intended solution?
