Hello! This mod should be compatible with anything. It only adds (duplicates) content, it doesn’t modify any base game element.
Guvenoren 11 Jun, 2022 @ 11:38am
Hello! Are these specialization mods compatiable with other specialization mods? :)

Absolutely ridiculous that in vanilla the Arctic Empire spell is under Master of Air.

I appreciate this mod.
Metro Ranger 22 Nov, 2017 @ 2:55pm
This is exactly what I needed. I was annoyed at having to choose between air/water master for my Ice wizard and then missing out on thematic spells, while gaining some I'd never use.

Only 3 adept spells?

I really like the idea behind this mod, and the spell selection is on-point, but I don't like the idea of repeated spells in different specializations. I suggest replacing the repeated spells in air and water with other spells. For example, replacing summon frost elemental with summon water elemental. Naturally, this would involve creating new spells, which might be tricky. If yu decide to go this route, you could make two versions of this mod: one with the replacements and one without.

Also: great hail could really use a buff, it's so unreliable.

Hi Auphilia, I didn't change how this spell is working at all and I won't change it because it's not the purpose of this mod and because I don't know how to do it anyway, sorry.
Auphilia 19 Aug, 2016 @ 9:51pm
Hello, the great hail spell randomly targets hexes that may or may not be occupied by enemies/allies. So 80% of the time no one gets hit by it, and if it does it, it's 50% as likely to hit your own troops than the enemy.

I recommend forcing this spell to target random enemies, similar to the Prismatic Spire defense the Elves can make.

When I only got into the skirmish mode, first race I ever made was necromancer frostlings, because of White Walkers exactly. Oh snap!

You're welcome! :)

As for people disliking Nexus, I can't talk for everyone (especially because, in fact, most of people like it and aren't aware of the following points) but to make it short:

1. They have crappy (public and premium) servers while they are selling "premium" membership which isn't better in almost any way.

2. Lack of security (malwares and viruses have been found multiple times) and user informations (including passwords) have been hacked multiple times.

3. The owner/admin, Robin Scott (aka Dark0ne), which is now 30 years old, acts like a little capricious kid and has no respect at all for the customers. He insulted them multiple times in his official communication for different "reasons" (people using AdBlock for example). He is also very hypocrite on many subjects.
Nolan Kotulan  [author] 6 Jul, 2016 @ 12:51pm
4. Moderators are hypocrites (just like some of the Nexus rules) and intolerants and will ban you and your IP (blacklisting) without a warning for a "yes" or a "no" or just for posting polite constructive criticism. They also banned multiple talented modders multiple times without any good reason most of the time while keeping their mods online to keep generating traffic.

5. When you are banned (and blacklisted), the only way to contact them is through an official contact form which is obviously only available on the Nexus. (...)

6. That being said, when you finally find a way to contact them (in a way or another), they won't listen to anything you have to say or won't access to any action you are requesting (account deletion for example) unless you threat them to take legal actions against them.

Hey thanks for the fast reply. Your link did the trick. Just out of curiosity, why do so many people dislike Nexus? I always thought it was a good place to pick up mods for niche games

You can use this site to download the files from the Steam Workshop:
http://steamworkshopdownloader.com

Simply paste this page URL in it. Then put the files in this folder:
C:\Users\YourUserName\Documents\My Games\AoW3\UserContent\Frost Specialization

You'll have to create the Frost Specialization folder manually, but I'm not sure if it is even required.

I will never upload my mods on the Nexus as I can't stand the way its owner/admin and the moderators handle the site, the modders and the community.

This mod looks legit, but I can't check it out since I purchased AOW3 from GOG. Any chance you could upload it to nexus?

Hey Whiskeyjack! First, I'm very glad that you like the mod and you're very welcome! Second, thank you very much for reporting this as I can indeed confirm that the Transform To Air Node spell was attribued to the Fire Master specialization instead of the Frost Master one, probably because of a misclick. It is surprising that you're the first one to notice it. Anyway, I'm happy to announce that it is now fixed!

Thank you again for your feedback, it's very much appreciated! :happymask:
Whiskeyjack 20 Jan, 2016 @ 1:27pm
hey nolan, really liked this mod, thanks a lot! i did notice one small thing; the Master of Fire specialisation gains the "transform to air node" spell with this mod. not game breaking by any means, but i thought i'd let you know

Thank you for this very nice comment Star-X! It is very much appreciated! :HappyMask:
Star-X 18 Oct, 2015 @ 11:48pm
This is how mixed specialization mods should be done imo. Rather than getting literally every skill from both specs, the mixed specialization only gets a small chunk of skills from each, which is actually balanced with the main game.

Sadly there aren't any other obvious niches to fill with something akin to Frost Specialization. Fire and Earth don't really have shared element spells like Water and Air do, and Creation/Destruction don't share any aspects with the four prinary elements, forcing the use of custom spells to fill those niches. Maybe in the future that'll be fixed, but for now frost is the only major missing specialization, and you've filled it nicely.
Grathocke 13 Oct, 2015 @ 9:45pm
It is also unfortunate that we can't open a mod to mod it, I tried.
Nolan Kotulan  [author] 13 Oct, 2015 @ 2:34pm
Yeah, this is what I thought when I read the name of this mod in your first answer. Unfortunately, I think there isn't really anything I can do to fix this as this comes from how the mods are made, using and modifying the same things in the same files.
Grathocke 12 Oct, 2015 @ 6:36pm
OK, it is definitely the Speialization Merger. I guess it is what it is.
Grathocke 12 Oct, 2015 @ 6:17pm
Thanks Nolan. I will have to track it down. The ones I think might be in conflict are Specialization Merger or the Lunar Mod. They both work fine together, but I suspect since you have a restriction on using Air or Water when Frost is chosen that it is somehow mucking up the works. I will look into it and let you know.
Nolan Kotulan  [author] 12 Oct, 2015 @ 11:14am
Hi Grathocke. No, this isn't normal. Are you using any other mod? Asking this because I suspect a conflict. In fact, I can't see what else it could be as you're the first one to report this problem. You can't mix Frost with Water and/or Air specializations but if you don't select the Frost one there isn't any reason for any restriction to apply.
Grathocke 12 Oct, 2015 @ 6:31am
Hi Nolan. I like your mod and would use it more, but I am having one problem. When I activate the Frost mod, then I only have access to Apprentice Air and Water, but not the Master levels of each of them. Is this normal, or is my problem unique?
Furin 10 Oct, 2015 @ 5:15am
Okay great! I just wanted to make sure it does not crash the game. I looked and there is at least one default Leader who has these two spheres combined, so that would have been a problem.
Nolan Kotulan  [author] 10 Oct, 2015 @ 4:12am
Hi Furin, and thank you for the nice comment. There isn't any restriction in combining the Air and the Water specializations so there isn't any problem at all with vanilla leaders using both.
Furin 9 Oct, 2015 @ 10:26pm
I mean, chosen randomly, by the AI, to play against you, on a random map.
Furin 9 Oct, 2015 @ 10:25pm
I like the idea and implementation of the mod. One question, please, have you checked if there are any vanilla leaders that use the air/water skill combination? If so, what happens if they are chosen on a random map against the AI as leaders?
Tanaka 4 Oct, 2015 @ 11:36pm
This is great I also wanted the same and found this mod as well which lets you have both water and air: https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=520963786&searchtext=
