Report a translation problem
Step 2 cilck on this mod then left click properties
Step 3 open mod.info (open it with notepad)
Step 4 change the MinGameVersion to this "3.115" and the MaxGamVersion to this MaxGameVersion "3.262.1"
Step 5 click save
Step 6 close it
Step 7 start your game up and see if it worked
Try version 1.2 it should be compatable with latest version.

So you have disabled all other mods and your still having an issue with mine?
Because I just tried it myself. If there is an issue I will fix it. But it works fine for me.
I would suggest that your game crashes when it attempts an autosave.

As it turns out I'm not having this issue, the fact that it happens on all the mission mods that are not mine, indicates that it is not my mod at all. I hope you are able to resolve your issue.

any chance you could take a screenshot of the on screen crash report? I could quickly determine if it's the other mod or something in mine.

The war machine only uses vanilla assest, almost all vehicles for all 5 default factions. So if you have a mod active that edits exisiting units/vehicles and they have game breaking errors, then they will crash when my mission attempts to load those entities.

This pat file structure is in line with the mod template found in mods. But I agree, nobody ever packs a mod this way, as it doesn't allow for easy editing. But is designed for release stage and minimal file size.
To make it easy to edit, create a resource folder with in the mod (as you described) and extract the folder structure map/single/the war machine to it.
I have a mod for editing and a version for release on all my mods. It also serves a great way to keep a backup... just in case.

You got some options, the "Terminator" has been working hard converting AS2 vanilla maps to The War Machine. The link to his mod is above in the desrciption.
You also have "The War Machine make a map" mod. Link is also above. This mod allows you to create your own map with the mission already in place ready to go. The mod page includes some videos to help you get started.
I also have a series of videos that I have not yet released. I made them for Terminator so that he could learn how to convert as2 maps. The vids include english and french sub titles, as I don't speak french and Terminator does not speak english.
