This is easy to fix with Total War Pack File Manager. Open the pack file and change the missile_type from shrapnel to cannon_ball. It's also good to copy the boshin_tower_arrow as shogun_tower_arrow if you're using any castle mods because those may use shogun_tower_arrow in FOTS too.

I haven't tested the star fort but if there's a problem just open data.pack and copy projectiles_tables values from there to get closer to stock. This won't require starting a new game or anything.

I would second this.

Any chance of an update? the blowing up your own walls thing sort of puts a damper on the whole "getoffmyfuckinglawndoomfort" vibe this mod gives defensive forts.

Could you perhaps make an optional version where the cannon batteries in starforts and regular shoot normal balls instead? The shrapnel shells have a tendency to burst close to the structure thye are shot from; they then blow it up and render i useless (not to mention killing all your troops on top of it, in the case of starforts).

Is there a way for it to not fire shrapnel shot and fire regular explosive shot instead? I feel presonally that constant shrapnel is a bit OP, so I just would need to know how to personally make changes.

which line in the file would i edit to make the battery towers fire explosive shells instead of shrapnel shot?
also, any ideas on how to make star forts with battery towers NOT have the battery tower kill a bunch of your own men by clipping the star fort wall with a shell, blowing it up and not only killing a bunch of men but also destroying the guns embedded in the wall?

Sorry don't know how I missed that comment! On the small chance you ever see this, you just hit the subscribe button, star the game, check the box next to his mod when the mod manager pops up and then hit play!

Yeah, it was a mod that messed it up. Played around with a pack file manager and got it working again. Awesome mod by the way. I've downloaded an artillery mod that adds 100-pound siege guns to the game to add some balance. You're gonna need those to attack a fully upgraded city.

Does anyone know if Fall of the Samurai has been updated recently? This mod used to work perfectly, but now it doesn't work at all. I've tried to re-install it, but still nothing.

Great mode Idea! However I think the main problem with towers comes from the fact that they take far too long to build even after you have gone through the lengthy research. By the time you finish even the first tower tier the fights already over in the area and you are better off using the slot on a building that comes with a garrision for the town and can train units.

ok I see what you mean, swords were hard to come by, but I think it can make the game more intresting, i'll see how much those mods are, also nugenata Asheguru may be a good mod too, and have you seen how the asheguru use swords in melee? they need to fix that.

Yeah but if no mod changes that and only that I'll still make the mod for him. Too many people make changes in packs and not individually meaning if I really like one aspect of their mod but hate all the rest, well then I probably just won't bother with the one change I do like.

There is like 5 mods that does that.
But it isn't logical or historical correct at all(i try to keep my game historical correct).
Since the sword was the soul of the samurai(and costed more than a farmer earned in liked five years). It don't make sense for the other clans to start handing out katana's to untrained peasants.
