great map, I got stuck on the last bit for probably over half an hour, but felt satisfying to at last complete it. thanks for your Introduction to the Workshop collection!

The orange funnel feels a bit underused, but I really enjoyed this still. Spent several minutes overthinking the final move. :D

the orange funnel being there is devious
devious goon 13 Jan, 2023 @ 4:26am
Really enjoyed this
Olepa 22 Jul, 2022 @ 1:06pm
that was… surely an experience. Another chamber where you're thinking with a Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator Had me stumped for a long time, although I did complete a couple of such chambers before (and it even kinda reminds me of an early version of my own map). nice one, what else can I say?
also, for some reason, funnily enough, I quite often seem to figure out the solutions to the tests on my own exactly while watching walkthrough videos (with them not even reaching that point yet), what's happened with this one too. Weird stuff :P
SpielSatzFail 30 Dec, 2021 @ 1:55pm
Nice one! :-)
When voting, a player should always take into consideration that there are other, less experienced players out there who might enjoy the map instead of finding it boring. So unless it's not complete garbage there's no need to downvote. Live and let live :-) just my two cents.

Great map - very elegant. Had me confused for a minute there!
PeterLucas 30 Nov, 2020 @ 9:46pm
Nice challenge, good job! Here's my blind walkthrough: https://youtu.be/bNEATgL29MU

Let me know what you think of my latest map if you feel like it!

My Walkthrough . It's part of the collection so I thought I would leave it here too. Timestamps for the other tests are in the description.
GrottoLova 2 Nov, 2018 @ 2:30pm
Really liked this one. Once I figured out how to get the cube it was easy. Probably spent 5 minutes overthinking cube acquisition :steammocking:
Lepo 21 Sep, 2018 @ 1:46pm
I got so much confused here. Took me 1 hour, solution was right in front of me all the time.
No idea why i was overthinking so much. Nice map!
Mikeastro 11 Aug, 2018 @ 11:49am
As far as I understand the rating system now is that it starts to show stars from 25 ratings onward and it always starts with 3 stars on the page. Indeed some inconsistency between the workshop and the actual page occurs when it is just transitioning from one ''star phase'' to the next, for you require a certain number of positive ratings for your item to maybe get 4 stars on the page, but not too many downvotes >:[ and when 5 stars occur is just beyond me... valve pls
RedSilencer  [author] 11 Aug, 2018 @ 11:42am
On a related note, I see from the footer of this workshop item that the "Introduction to the Workshop" collection has 4 stars but if you go to the page, it actually has 3 stars. Both of these reports confuse the hell out of my because if I actually go to the analytics of the item, I see that it has 25 upvotes and 0 downvotes... Like, what?
Mikeastro 11 Aug, 2018 @ 10:40am
So this one actually had me for a brief moment - nice map. And I fully agree with the discussion below; downvoting maps made with effort is just so undescribably childish - don't get me started on it because I could probably write thesis as long as yours below in no time :|
Dark Rozen 21 Jul, 2018 @ 4:55pm
lives up to the title. easy peasy. exept when i fogot something :steamhappy:
Joric 9 Jun, 2018 @ 2:27am
I never downvote maps that I can't solve, it doesn't make sense. Well I gave 3/5 (on the forum) to quaternary's map that was marked hard difficulty but I apologized. In my defence the only intended solution ought to be recorded by @quaternary https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1138487178
jandlml 8 Jun, 2018 @ 3:49pm
way to go red. i have definitely learned alot from you and the other creators . the amount of time and effort that goes into making a map is really large. even if a map is simple for some it may be difficult for others. when i first started playing the workshop maps i downvoted. but i dont any more. i would rather leave a comment about how i feel directly. i love this game. and even though ive never met any of the creators in person i consider many my friends. so if ever you are frustrated with a map dont vote down just ask for help. they are so willing to give a hint. thanks to all my portal friends. love you guys ahh wishy washy haha
RedSilencer  [author] 8 Jun, 2018 @ 12:46pm
The star system is really whack, honestly. I don't know how it's calculated, sometimes you'll see a map with 1 downvote and 15 upvotes but it'll have 3 stars.
Joric 8 Jun, 2018 @ 12:41pm
@RedSilencer got it, we cool. It's just that there's no "stars" so I assumed every upvote gives 5 stars. I'm new here.
RedSilencer  [author] 8 Jun, 2018 @ 12:34pm
My point is, I don't think you should downvote maps for maps being "straightforward" or "slow paced". It's the flip side mentality of downvoting maps because you can't solve them (which is equally nonsensical from my perspective as a veteran player with a long list of puzzles I haven't solved but I think are well made). Personally, I reserve my downvotes for maps that truly need it, like shitposts and other non-puzzles that are just like, open the editor, make a "sandbox" map and hit publish because I don't think those should be cluttering up the workshop and giving this hobby a bad look. Instead, if I see maps that are lacking in substance or any sort of difficulty but I can tell they put some effort into it, I recommend changes that I would consider to be improvements. But hey, that's just me.
RedSilencer  [author] 8 Jun, 2018 @ 12:34pm
In my opinion, as sort of workshop etiquette, I think it's really hypercritical and unfair to downvote maps that were clearly made with some effort. It's not really helpful, long story short, and I've seen cases where it discourages play. Let me put it from my point of view: I've got about 2,600 hours logged in this game and probably twice that dedicated to talking with many many new or experienced map makers/players in the community about different design styles and puzzle concepts. It's really unlikely if not extremely rare that any of them will dislike a map because they think it's "too easy" and even fewer who will think that the maps they play that are clearly made with some good intentions from the map maker are "boring" just because they solve them quickly...
Joric 8 Jun, 2018 @ 11:56am
@RedSilencer what reason? I solved it, but I was bored by it.
RedSilencer  [author] 8 Jun, 2018 @ 11:51am
Don't downvote maps for that reason -- ever. Don't even downvote if you can't solve it, that's really not fair for the map makers.
Joric 8 Jun, 2018 @ 11:49am
Upvoted. Idk why downvoted the first time. Maybe because it's rather straightforward and slow paced for the workshop collection.
jandlml 4 Jun, 2018 @ 8:10pm
how come i dont remember these. they are great!!
Snoitulover 4 Jun, 2018 @ 6:33pm
Loved this one !
Nobody No-One 13 May, 2018 @ 9:39pm
Indeed pretty easy, but I enjoyed it.
RedSilencer  [author] 9 May, 2018 @ 3:10am
Updated, I guess...
RedSilencer  [author] 8 Apr, 2018 @ 6:25pm
I actually don't remember! I will go back and adjust this, it's been a while. I hastily updated it 2 years ago and then just shelved it, it definitely doesn't deserve to exist in my intro collection in its current state. Thank you for bringing my attention to it!
Gigo 8 Apr, 2018 @ 6:06pm
Why is it a laser cube?
bullfrog 12 Jan, 2018 @ 3:04am
Excellent puzzle. So simple, but not until you've finished it and look back
dire.fcs 28 Oct, 2015 @ 1:30am
Nice and almost easy:steammocking:
RedSilencer  [author] 23 Oct, 2015 @ 9:29pm
Thanks, Fluffy. :) Recommend changes where you see them and I will listen and adjust things within reason, wherever I can. We're all explorers of this design space. :)
BoBo Mac BoBo 23 Oct, 2015 @ 9:28pm
Another great map you got yourself a fan.

Your tests are so great! I like them so much! I have no idea why "The unorthodox paradox" is such a huge exception but I don't care! Again: Great tests!
- And that's coming from a one of the biggest Portal fans and PeTI players!

Thanks a lot, goose. :) thanks v tree for the commentary, I enjoyed it.
wildgoosespeeder 21 Oct, 2015 @ 7:51pm
Very nice. Minor reflex required but by no means difficult to perform the suggested action. A bit of a thinker. I saw this on the homepage. Deserves to be there.
ViiNTAGE 21 Oct, 2015 @ 9:57am
Hey I did a blind playthrough or your map I hope you enjoy! Feel free to recommend me other maps of yours to play :)
