I really enjoyed that. Thanks for taking the time to make this :) Managed to be almost constantly frustrating with the signals without ever being irritating!

Thanks!

(Oct/2021). Nicely done, ran very well from end to end. Plenty to hold the interest.

Thanks John

Mertci pour ce scenario , problem aiguille caledonian ??
DPSimulation  [author] 6 Mar, 2017 @ 1:36am
Yeah, you do need to wait time at Caledonian Road, I did mention it above. :)

I didn't have the issue with the red, but have seen others have it. More unexplainables, TS wouldn't be TS without them!

I finally got to run this very good and realistic freight scenario, with the typical delays that can be expected.
First off I forgot how to drive the "86", so found a "U-tube clip" to get me under-way, {very easy to drive once you know how}.
Then I derailed after the stop at Caledonian Road, I got permission to pass the signal at red, but the points were set for the 2 following passenger services.
Did a restart and then saved at Caledonian Road. Checked what was the problem via the 2D map. Then realised there were these following passenger services that were to overtake me.
Oh the Light never cleared and I got no response to the TAB, but noticed the points were correctly set, so just ran past the red signal and there was no notification of passing a red signal in the final notes.

Very nice scenario. Thanks for sharing it.

Darren, a most excellent scenario, but that is only to be expected from such a distinguished author. I really enjoyed this run. Thanks !

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOAC83aISWM&feature=youtu.be I also made a timelapse video of this entire scenario

Absolute joy to drive, some serious concentration needed here!

A nice slow and relaxing run and a great way to look at this lovely livery, the old '86 looks fantastic in it!

Really excellent run - nothing useful to add to all the other positive comments, apart from my thanks. I initially had a couple of bad downloads for some reason - could only find and play it via "build" and "edit", but it was fine on the 3rd attempt.

Re phil.moiseys comments - the red at Caledonian Road always seems to allow a tab through, even though the switch is set against you - I've had this happen on another scenario, so just waited for the signal to clear this time (and sneaked a look at the 2D map to see what was happening behind).

Thanks for your response Darren - I knew your name began with "D" - I promise to do better!!

It's Darren. :)

It would be techincally possible to continue it as far as Ipswich, then change loco. I've no plans to do it at the current time though.
Crepello 9 Dec, 2015 @ 4:14pm
Another great run Danny, I'd just like to add my gratitude to all the others who've commented on this scenario. Thanks for taking the time to set it up. Would it be technically possible to carry this on to Felixstowe? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask.

cheers,

John

An excellent scenario that provides a real opportunity to observe, what in my opinion, is the outstanding modelling in this route. It is also a great way to drive the class 86's, one of my favourite locos, and demonstrates that freight trains frequently travel at slow and stop speeds ! I look forward to more of your scenarios and thank you for your work, Bill B.
Felix 25 Oct, 2015 @ 1:11pm
Zev 25 Oct, 2015 @ 12:53pm
I've completed it. That was really good. I shall definately be trying some more of your scenarios, that was very good. And I've learnt to drive a new loco. Thanks
Zev 25 Oct, 2015 @ 12:21pm
I resumed my save, and stopped at the lights and that ssems ok. I think it didnt like it because I phoned forward for permission to cross the red light. It gave permission but then didnt like it when I approached the next set of lights. This is a really nice scenario. I'm glad there's no switch setting. I like the freight trains, but I dont like having to set switches while driving.
Zev 25 Oct, 2015 @ 11:18am
mmmm ok thanks I'll have to check what happened there then.
DPSimulation  [author] 25 Oct, 2015 @ 10:49am
You should not need to set any switches manually. Once at the red signal at Caledonian Road, you have a wait of 10-12 minutes to allow passenger services to pass.
Zev 25 Oct, 2015 @ 10:46am
Thanks very much for the help :O) Now I can drive the Class 86 :O) I've managed to get as far as Caledonia Road then I got a switch derailment. Tht's just my stupidity for not setting the switches though (I havnt done many frieght scenarios up to now). Thanks again :O)
Zev 25 Oct, 2015 @ 7:06am
Thanks very much indeed for that, I'll watch it :O)
DPSimulation  [author] 25 Oct, 2015 @ 2:08am
@phil.moisey Driving the Class 86 is very different to many other locomotives due to the 'tap changer' arrangement. It would be worth watching a video such as this to learn how to drive one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7__m_mo5tS8
DPSimulation  [author] 25 Oct, 2015 @ 2:05am
Thanks for the comments. I did consider waiting for the full booked time but some people do find it excessive.
horsham 25 Oct, 2015 @ 1:24am
Fantastic scenario Darren, great AI and I enjoyed the realism. I even wondered if the scanario should have had the full booked wait at Caledonian Road so we could experience the life of a freight driver around the busy NLL.
Dean - 56103 25 Oct, 2015 @ 12:57am
Amazing scenario
JohnW 24 Oct, 2015 @ 2:58pm
Superb scenario Darren, enjoyed this one. Even the wait at Caledonian Rd had a good amount of AI. Many thanks :steamhappy:
Zev 24 Oct, 2015 @ 2:02pm
Hi, sorry I'm not too experienced with frieght scenarios. I start off OK when the lights turn green, I keep to 8mph, but within a minute or two my current drops to zero, and nothing I do will bring back the current. I am stranded. :O( any hints for me please.
Barrie 24 Oct, 2015 @ 6:58am
Very nice scenario, Thank you.
Greybrad 23 Oct, 2015 @ 1:40pm
Slow going, wasn't sure if i'd like it, but I really enjoyed this scenario.
DPSimulation  [author] 23 Oct, 2015 @ 11:44am
Ahh, no worries, apologies for the confusion.
The Growl 23 Oct, 2015 @ 11:42am
Oh sorry, I got confused because it said the GEML was needed, so I thought it was on the GEML. My mistake.
DPSimulation  [author] 23 Oct, 2015 @ 11:38am
How would that be possible? The scenario takes place on the NLL route.
The Growl 23 Oct, 2015 @ 11:38am
Could you make a version with out the NLL needed please. I don't have it currently
