UnLucky Panda 12 Feb, 2022 @ 3:57pm
oh thats cool! maybe i'll do it myself after learning... i'll let you know if i ever do something like this :)
Astute  [author] 12 Feb, 2022 @ 3:35pm
It's been too long since I worked on this submission, so I don't really remember what my reasoning was when I put this together. I think the light was packaged separate due to an animation issue I had at the time.

I am no longer workshopping, and my workshop is content frozen, meaning I won't be making any changes to these submissions. Sorry.

If anyone wants to make an interior for this vehicle and reupload it, they are welcome to do so.
UnLucky Panda 12 Feb, 2022 @ 2:53pm
also about lights: isn't it easier to include it in this pack right way? or does it not work that way? i havent used SFM yet so i cant tell how it works
UnLucky Panda 12 Feb, 2022 @ 2:50pm
will you ever add interiors? would be cool if you could animate policemen walking out from the car (best english ever) so adding even the simplest interior with the ability to open doors would be incredibly cool!

damn, ok thanks for your time to answer
Astute  [author] 23 Apr, 2021 @ 10:04am
When it was made, no interior was needed for what I was using it for. Therefore, sadly, you cannot see inside.
Sir donks alot (rip my grandpa) 23 Apr, 2021 @ 12:19am
can you not see inside?

thank you

The siren on top uses two volumetric red lights, facing in opposite directions, and a skin that makes it glow.

For lights:
1. Add a light.
2. Set that light's color to red.
3. Turn on "volumetric" for for that light.
4. Adjust the size of the cone if you want a tighter siren light.
5. Move that light inside the siren and rotate it.
6. Attach the light to the siren's light bone, so you can animate it rotating.
7. Copy the light and rotate it 180 degrees, so you have a light in the other direction.

For glow:
1. Set the skin for the siren to the first skin.

I haven't worked with this model, or in SFM for multiple years, so these instructions may not be accurate.
VintageEra 28 Jun, 2019 @ 6:31am
how do i make siren work
Astute  [author] 21 Dec, 2018 @ 9:35am
The names of each model are listed in the Includes section of the description.

veh_belair.mdl
veh_belair_police.mdl
prp_police_siren_light.mdl

If they aren't showing up, it's likely a download issue with SFM. Unsub and resub to refresh the download.

Astute  [author] 25 Dec, 2015 @ 2:15pm
The siren light on the top is just a lighting trick. I put two volumetric lights at the center of the prop facing in opposite directions. I can't remember if the siren light has a second skin which makes it illuminated, so you may need to shine a red light directly on the prop to give it the illusion that it is lit.
TheDman131 25 Dec, 2015 @ 11:35am
how do you turn on the police light?
RIP me 10 Nov, 2015 @ 11:47pm
Yeah, its fixed. Thanks a bunch!
Astute  [author] 10 Nov, 2015 @ 10:59pm
@DigiVee -Slow Connection, Interesting... despite reloading, I can't get this vtf error to prompt, but I believe I've seen this issue before. Regardless, it should be fixed now. Cubemaps are loading in properly, as far as I can tell. I'll need confirmation of this on your end.

As for the errors:
.vtx errors are just warnings that SFM spits out for just about everything. It's mainly due to the fact SFM is using an older version of the Source Engine.

The other error, ".vtf.vtf" is a weird and obscure error that is also an issue when using an old version of Source. Certain commands like $lightwarp and $envmap will not recognize that you've added ".vtf" to the end of your filepath. These commands, in SFM's old verison of the code, expect you to supply your path without any extensions. Hence, when porting from newer versions of Source to older ones, like SFM, this issue sometimes occurs.
RIP me 10 Nov, 2015 @ 10:20pm
Im getting a missing texture called "sheen" thats listed under the pyroland protector directory, so I dont think im missing what you listed.

my consol spits out:
Model file 'pyroland_protector\models\vehicles\veh_belair_police.mdl' and associated vtx files are out of date
Model file 'pyroland_protector\models\props\prp_police_siren_light.mdl' and associated vtx files are out of date
"materials/pyroland_protector/sheen_cubemap.vtf.vtf": can't be found on disk
Astute  [author] 10 Nov, 2015 @ 9:16pm
@DigiVee -Slow Connection, I did some double checks to make sure the files were uploaded properly. As far as I can see, they are up there and are working properly. I even moved my usermod folder and tested with only workshop files, everything hooks up. It appears to be a textbook case of SFM not downloading your files.

Unsubbing and Resubbing should fix this.

The files you are missing are:
workshop\materials\pyroland_protector\models\props\prp_police_siren_light_glass.vmt
workshop\materials\pyroland_protector\models\props\prp_police_siren_light.vtf

Keep me posted. I could be wrong, but hopefully it's just an SFM glitch.
RIP me 10 Nov, 2015 @ 7:25pm
Yah uh, the textures on the siren light are kinda broken it seems http://i.imgur.com/lRwfrUF.jpg
Sparky 10 Nov, 2015 @ 1:55pm
I think that we need actual cars, there is plenty of tf stuff already on the workshop.... Yes you can always import gmod stuff into sfm but cars are not paintable, you can see through many of them and they are not usually rigged. I would love some one who creates real and rigged car models for sfm
PeculiarReality 6 Nov, 2015 @ 7:41am
We need more stuff of this style. Too much stuff on the WS that doesn't fit with the TF2 style... :c
Vissova 5 Nov, 2015 @ 3:59pm
Nice. It fits with the TF2 style very well.
Saph 5 Nov, 2015 @ 1:59pm
Yes indeed.
UltramanUltimo 5 Nov, 2015 @ 1:56pm
Finally something other than fredfuck stuff
