why are the wealthy/high earners less upset about being taxed? Usually they're the ones furious if they pay more than the poor

socialists, socialism, and equality should go up much more on the High Income Tax and go down for (or at least be unaffected by) the Low Income Tax. Other than that, good mod!

Would you be willing to made this same mod for democracy 4? I really enjoy this mod.

normally tax brackets works like this:
You earn an income in the lower 25% bracket you pay taxes according to that rate.
You earn an income in the middle say 50% bracket you pay the rate for that on any money above the previous bracket. and so on.

example: If you have a regular income tax of 10%, for simplicity the average income is $100k
if you make $100k a year you pay $10k.
now lt's say you get a "wealth" bracket that's anything above average income+50% where you pay 25% and you make $151k a year. You pay $15k in regular tax (10%), plus $250 in the wealthier bracket on everything above the average+50%. You don't pay $37750 as most people think.

These new taxes should increase tax evasion

Poor income tax should increase inequality.

@lil Joshu The "Wealthy" group in Democracy 3 does not refer to the 1%. It refers to the top 25% of earners, just as "Poor" refers to the bottom 25%. The population of both groups is equal.

While a high income tax obviously makes that bracket unhappy, it should also make the other brackets more happy. . "They're paying their fair share."

caps should only care when its high income and socialists should be angry at low income tax

"Simply illogical. The income gap is indeed substantial, but the population of these groups evens out that fact." ~ BRB

Not at all. Because a lower tax to a larger population base is applied more often. A lower tax on the low tax on the low income can generate a higher revenue than a slightly higher tax revenue on a higher income, but also upsets much more voters.

%50 high income tax gives a fresh breath.

"Also, Low Income Tax revenue should be lower than High Income Tax, because the income gap of each group is significant." ~ Killer Joe.

Simply illogical. The income gap is indeed substantial, but the population of these groups evens out that fact.

this mod is good but cheated too
I advise people to get the Mod: Socialist reform
Killer Joe 10 Mar, 2016 @ 8:32am
Hey Mitt Rommel. As Maoisai says, each tax bracket has the same value, so they don't take into account the population in each group. Also, Low Income Tax revenue should be lower than High Income Tax, because the income gap of each group is significant. The idea is good, but if you don't update this mod, I'm afraid I won't subscribe, because frankly, as it is now, it doesn't make sense.

@palxtf yes it adds on top of the normal income tax but is meant to be a replacement to the income tax. It would have been a single policy but the game does not currently allow for multiple sliders
palxtf 9 Feb, 2016 @ 4:03pm
So these taxes are added on top of the general income tax if that is also in place?

do a payroll tax

Low Bracket Income Tax should yield much less money than High Bracket Income Tax
Sulphuric_Glue 13 Nov, 2015 @ 9:47am
Maoisai's spelling is bloody appalling but his ideas are right
Maoisai 11 Nov, 2015 @ 8:42pm
The idea is good... but I don't feel the implatation is.

First, I don't thinks socialist would approve of taxing eclusivly the poor and I'm not sure that it would benifit equality either. Socialist would probably love a lot more that you tax exclusively the rich.

Futurmore, does your mod take in consideration the population in each groupe and the revenu of each group when calculating the profite? Because I find it strange (at least it what we can see in the image) that every group produce the same number of money if taxed at 46%. I think that other factor also influance other taxing method in the game.

Also, taxing specific group should probably increase the tax evasion a lot more then normal taxation (the even taxation have a lesser evasion rate then the normal taxation in the game).

Love the idea!
Cpt.Tripps.2012 10 Nov, 2015 @ 2:13pm
Instead of having three different policies, might I suggest instead having a single policy that lets you adjust the progrssive curve of income tax.
Brodience 10 Nov, 2015 @ 7:39am
@Mitt Rommel okay, that sounds good :)
Dilly_Dilly  [author] 9 Nov, 2015 @ 5:10pm
@Brodience The High Income Tax does not lead to the corporate exodus or brain drain as far as I tested, although I may add that into a possible update.
Gikgik 9 Nov, 2015 @ 8:15am
Great idea :) having some download issues now, though...
Brodience 9 Nov, 2015 @ 7:18am
This looks great, nice mod :D i have one question though, if you use the High Income tax, will it lead to the corporate exodus situation or the brain drain situation since it angers the wealthy and capitalists? :)
