I'm surprised people still used this after all these years, I can see about an overhaul to more modern frameworks and such, no promises though.

this is actually pretty cool the only thing is that even when i spawn the ammo for the laser idk if i have to put it somewhere or if the laser even works but the cannon works. this would be my favorite mod if the laser worked.

I'm not sure if this mod still works, so I'm sorry if it doesn't. I don't know if I still have my source files, so I don't know if it will be updated. Glad I found someone who likes Freespace, though.

can you put how much damage it does in the description i plan to use it with other mods to build a crazy capitol ship such mods as the energy shield will be used so i would like to know how much damage the laser does

So apearently, an update happened earlier this summer and it basicaly screwd up all stationary weapon mods. Mod authors have been going around fixing their mods and it seemed to have worked. Im know this mod doesn't work for me and am not sure on the authors activity on this mod. I am not sure if the mod author has anymore knowledge on this subject either. I just wanted to let you know because I realy like this mod because I have a rediculously huge ship that uses a 7X8 grid of the laser as the main cannon and think it is very fitting. Thank you for your consideration and hope this mod will work in the future.

was wondering if you could make a sort of super version of this? like everything is the same, but like the damage output of the laser and the bomb have like 3-4 more digits to them. this would be more just for those who want to just flat out shred others ships. like those who have really beefy computers, and a lot of time, they will be useful in making these ultimate beam weapons.

Bent is right Stoicboss101, i love this thing for an orbital satellite, directed energy weapon, takes out any base i'm aiming at :) i love it

how the f*** does being way OP make it useless? the power requirements are MASSIVE

laser is only visual effect, doesn't do anything. as for the bomb, this mod didn't have any bomb in it.

this mod is very good that orbital bomb is very good against large heavy ships one hit and you don´t have to shot again and it is very useful vs heavy armor it can penetrate 5 layers of heavy armor and that laser very good too

To be honest though, I personally like your existing model, and if you were to switch to an energy-based weapon, then you can continue to use that model, and just worry about the coding.

For the sake of convenience, and being able to use it in survival, I suggest using any of the fixed-mount weapon models. In the case of the Orbital beam, I would also ask that you consider making it an "Energy Only" weapon. An example on how to do this can be found here:

The laser is not cheaty ben. It cant even pierce through one heavy armor block in one shot. Please make it much more powerful. The bomb on the other hand... (I like the explosive radius of the bomb)

Apart from this not being survival ready, can you see about reducing the size of the visual beam, I love the range and the damage, but the visual effect is far to large for the damage it dishes out, if unless you make the model bigger to suit the size, this mod has been much awaited and I do hope you continue to work on it future.

I am sorry I couldn't respond to the issues earlier, thank you Devlah for pointing that out. To be very honest, I lost the sources to mod's models ages ago. It *should* be easy to create assembler recipies for the ammo as that has absolutly nothing to do with models, but models from Space Engineers cannot be easily obtained in their source form unless you actually have the sources on hand and I cannot seem to find the sources for the model of the Orbital Laser. Just out of curiosity, how many of you would absolutly hate it if I used the default gatling model for the laser, at least for now? Also, I will attempt the assembler recipies to give this basic survival compatibility. Just keep in mind everything will be SUPER hard to get as the lasers and bomb are basically cheaty anyway. Balance will come in a later update and I am open to ideas on that. Keep in mind this mod is open to feedback.

Okay. For those who haven't experimented with it yet, I found some answers to pressing questions.

As of the time of this writing I discovered the following:

The Orbital Laser functions ONLY in creative. It requires "Orbital Laser Charge" which cannot be produced in the assembler, and moreover, even if you could, the weapon block itself has no conveyor to transfer the ammunition into.

The Orbital Bomb COULD function in survival, as it uses the standard rocket launcher model, complete with conveyor doors. However, once again, the ammunition cannot be produced in an assembler.

I realize this is still a work in progress, but this is basic information that I would expect most people to want to know before trying to use it.
