I also want to ask you to provide initial cargo with some girders, so players can build small solar panels if they want to, and 1-2 hydrogen bottles would be nice too, since jetpack is now usable on planets' surface.
If you start in the PlanetaryLander then just get out of the seat and kill yourself (backspace). You can then choose a new ship from the respawn list.
I just tested myself and you are absolutely correct. Inventory size is affecting it somehow but I'm not sure why. Thanks for the tip!
If you want to use my ship you'll have to set it to x10 inventory until redesign her. Sorry for the confusion everyone.
So I tested it out in 1x, 3x and 10x inv size:
in 1x world it drops like a rock, no matter what you do you land/crash to ground at 200-300m/s;
in 3x world hydrogen thrusters can actually slow it down, but not quite enough where you still crash into ground at about 90m/s
in 10x world, you can safely stop the craft above 1600 meters
I'm pretty sure there is a bug on the forum for it. Hoping the best for next patchmas.
I'd recommend removing all of your mods and double checking that all your dampners and thrusters are on.
Make sure you keep the ship level with the horizon as well (aim the crosshair on the line). You want the hydrogon thrusters pointing directly at the ground.
You should also be more careful when trying to land in mountainous terrain. The altimeter isn't that accurate and you may need to fire thrusters much earlier than you think.
8000m (I'm traveling about 260m/s by then) Is a good height to start hydrogen thrusters. I have yet to crash from that height even in the highest mountains.You can start lower but it gets increasingly dangerous.
