@Neutex Actually, you're not too far off. You can cut out a lot of blocks, like I did with a narrow, one-cannon version of this design in one of the video clips, and still handily beat the challenge. But you wouldn't have enough cannons to beat the Duke's Freighters.
@Algae Thanks! In this particular case, going bigger would make it harder. If the vehicle has much more inertia, the force from the cannons tends to break the machine rather than give a good launch. :O
The challenge came down to building small, while still making the vehicle long enough to be drivable. Half spacing was really helpful.
Seriously, I don't think it can be completed with less blocks than your smallest version has.
