So I am trying to add fuel at the bottom and it wont go in. help!
BloodyThor 14 Feb, 2016 @ 9:24am
If you want it to bank automatically you can add Naosyth's Flight assist script, makes it much easier and manageable to fly

Absolutely, you're welcome to use any of my ships.
Fly Hyping 4 Feb, 2016 @ 7:50am
Hello, I was wondering if I could use this in my mod. I need loads of ships for it to be effective. I will cite this workshop in my description.

It's a great looking design! It occurs to me that Naosyth's Auto Hover script would be a great fit for this ship if there's room in there for a program block and timer. One of the modes is a "Roll" mode that allows forward velocity while automatically rolling the ship to kill sideways velocity. In essence, it would "auto-bank" into turns. I used it on one of my own designs recently using downward and aft thrust only and it resulted in some beautifully smooth flight mechanics.

Thanks. :)

It's just the standard light armor 1x2 angled blocks.

@niereit aim at the block with a welder/grinder it should tell you the block name ;)

This is very nice! Simple, Easy to blueprint for server clients to assemble and makes me think A-Wing :) Thanks!
Azrus  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 5:34pm
Right. The reactors need Uranium though. That was what I meant by "fueled". You can add uranium to the reactors through the small container, which is linked to each of the reactors through a conveyor.
Son Of Salt 3 Dec, 2015 @ 5:14pm
No, they don't. They run like normal thrusters. It's hydrogen thrusters that have to be re-fueled.
HeatLighting 3 Dec, 2015 @ 4:13pm
Wait atmospheric thrusters have to be fueled??
Azrus  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 4:08pm
It's a custom built system. Just google "$800 gaming PC build" and you should find plenty of equivalent options.

On a more relevent topic, there's a new version out. Thruster damage should be fixed. Two small reactors were added to help alleviate overload at low altitudes. The large reactor and both small reactors can be fueled through the small container on the underside of the ship. Overload still occurs at low altitude, but I'm hesitant to tinker with it any more than I already have.
Azrus  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 3:44pm
I've got 8gigs, though I wouldn't really say my system runs very smoothly. My system falls very much into the "budget gaming PC" category.
HeatLighting 3 Dec, 2015 @ 3:20pm
Fyi how much ram does your computer have? Im looking to by a new computer and I want my game to run as smoothly as yours.
Azrus  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 2:37pm
They're located undearneath the nose of the ship. You can see the barrels poking out from under the nose in the first picture.
CommanderBlack19 3 Dec, 2015 @ 1:57pm
where are the guns?
Kreicus 3 Dec, 2015 @ 12:54pm
Grats as well!

...I was a fan before he became famous... :D
Azrus  [author] 3 Dec, 2015 @ 12:39pm
Huh, awesome. Thanks guys, I appreciate the support. Though I guess now that the ship's getting more attention, I really do need to address the thruster damage.
Gem 3 Dec, 2015 @ 12:18pm
Congrats for getting featured in the Update 1.111 video!
Great work too! :)
Son Of Salt 3 Dec, 2015 @ 11:19am
Very well done on the ship! Also, as Skinner mentioned, congrats about your ship being featured in Keen's update changelog/ community spotlight video!

No problem! Feel free to contact me if you would like any other Builds spotlighted!
Azrus  [author] 2 Dec, 2015 @ 2:53pm
Awesome, thank you! I enjoyed the video. I'm glad to hear you'll be looking at the Wyvern as well. Of the two ships, the Wyvern's actually my favorite. I will say that flying these ships takes a little getting used. Try angling the nose up to stop and rotating the ship to corner. Essentially, you want to be using the powerful downward facing thrusters for cornering and braking. Once you get the hang of it, it becomes a lot of fun.

At any rate, thanks for taking the time to do a spotlight video, I very much appreciate it.

Awesome desing for a Scout Fighter! Did a spotlight video on it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22tn7b2gn9M

@Rabby - I think there's a lot of added challenge when designing really compact ships. You have to be really efficient about each block you place and really prioritize features. Just makes it kind of interesting. I won't be adding a conveyor system to the Broadhead, primarily because there's nothing that really requires it. Anything that needs to be loaded/fueled has access ports facing outward. It's definitely not as convenient as having everything connected via conveyors, but I'd have to expand the ship pretty significantly or remove a lot of the body work in order to add it.

@Kreicus - Yeah, I thought that might happen. The same thing happens with the side thrusters, they slowly roast one of the wing blocks. I may move the second reverse thruster forward a block to prevent that from happening. The side thrusters are a bigger challenge. I'll tinker with it and see if I can't come up with a better solution.

Thanks for the feedback guys. :)

I also like small builds, most of my ships are also. I also like to build vanilla only, since servers i play on always have random mods. Just keeps it simple. Unfortunately there arent a lot of nice looking small vanilla ships out there. But this one looks really nice, really shows people that you can make great looking ships without the need for fancy mods. Nice job!

Although. Your forward facing thruster on the bottom of your ship is slowly burning away the thruster in front of it. It takes time but it does start to smoke after awhile.
Rabby 2 Dec, 2015 @ 11:53am
Hey, I like to create extra small ships too, even when i'm making large ships. They are very compact too.
BTW i recommend ya to add conveyor system with connector for survival usability.
Loptyeir 2 Dec, 2015 @ 10:14am
thanks for telling me this and also your not the only one with bad habbits while makeing ships i always use light armour but my ships are always a bit heavyer than they should be anyway this is still a great fighter
Azrus  [author] 2 Dec, 2015 @ 10:00am
Much appreciated guys. Yeah, I have a habit of creating very small compact ships when I design fighters. I don't know why exactly, that's just always how it seems to turn out. You might take a look at the Wyvern if you haven't already, it's a slightly larger, less arrow-like shaped ship. I've been thinking of creating a battery operated fighter and a sort of heavy fighter/gunship/troop transport. Haven't started either yet though, so we'll see if those ideas go anywhere.
Loptyeir 2 Dec, 2015 @ 9:48am
i like it alot however i would like to see a more complecated fighter that does not simplely look like a arrow granted the coolest arrow ever
Rabby 2 Dec, 2015 @ 7:19am
Simple and perfect, nice BP, man! c:
Azrus  [author] 1 Dec, 2015 @ 7:19pm
It's got a single large reactor powering it.
TRTH_Conviction 1 Dec, 2015 @ 6:16pm
Reactors? How many and what size?
