Or maybe it is still possible? Why not play with the mechanics I've shown, and find out? :D
I'm suprised this map still appears to work considering I've not touched this game in a nearly a year. :P (Old PC can't handle it no more)
It's explained in the track building tutorial video at 1 minute, 24 seconds:

When was the last time you tried? They have done many patches.

Hey it would be nice to make the Half Life 2 trains (DR1 DMU and Combine train AKA Razor Train) if you can't make the Razor Train I know why, Its to tall. But just give it a shot will ya'? Here is some Big sentences about the DR1 and pictures.
"The Train is based on the DR1 DMU railcar produced in Riga, Latvia. The DR1 and its modifications (DR1P, DR1A, etc.) are common DMU trains in post-Soviet countries (Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, etc.)."

I've lowered the map view distance to minimum and even spawned the planet in creative with a 60 km radius and with low vegetation to reduce lag, but Space Engineers doesn't like very long rows of blocks - So there isn't more I can do about that, sorry.
Only suggestion is to try running Space Engineers in windowed mode at a lower resolution, it may help a bit.
I wonder if I could build a trackbuilding train with a tunnel bore.
There's nothing stopping people from building thier own layouts using the blueprints though. :) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=563424253
I copypasta track in creative so I've not seen the point in trying this myself. If the train system worked properly in survival it'd be feasible, but I'd wonder how you'd craft curves and slopes. (Feel free to experiment if you want. :) )
