Report a translation problem
I chose them more for their role in Langobard history than the time period in which they existed. For instance, the Aztecs get the Jaguar as their replacement for a warrior. I gave them bronze swords for artistic purposes.
Swordsmen are also depicted in civ 5 as professional armored soldiers, not migratory warriors.
Please let me know if you figure out which mod was causing the conflict!

Also: if you use alternate leader selection, you can use two lombardy mods at one time. JFD has instructions for that on the mod page at civfanatics.
I can add some events & decisions at some point if you'd like. I was a little concerned about the sight myself, but it's fun and doesn't carry over to embarked sight.
Just planning/designing really, there were at least 3-4 other civs I wanted to do before the Lombards, it was just on my list is all.
Aw, sorry man. I hate it when that happens - were you in the planning stage or had you made any progress on it? I'm not opposed to a third unique in my civs.
