I realize where you're coming from: It can be frustrating to browse or search the Workshop, looking for ideal mods to enjoy for a game, only to have to wade through hundreds or thousands of abandoned mods that no longer work (or which conflict with other mods) - reading countless comments like this - in order to find usable mods to build a nice, usable mod list.
But blaming mod authors is unfair. If you must blame someone, then blame the game devs for not setting up their (Space Engineers) mod workshop to use tags for each game version, which could've allowed us to filter mods by game version, which would've automatically hidden all mods that were neither made for nor updated for the latest version. For example, RimWorld is set up properly so it is extremely easy to filter out all mods that were neither made for nor updated for a specific game version.
Mods get abandoned by creators who have moved on to other games or at least switch between them over long periods of time. But these creators are not obligated to keep them updated or to take them down when they no longer work. Usually, they provide them to the community for free, getting nothing for all their time and effort but bug reports, complaints and the occasional praise or words of gratitude. Indeed, they did not even have to share them with us. They could've kept them private - for personal use.
The good thing about old, abandoned mods is that, occasionally, they inspire someone else to either recreate the mod, make something similar or update/fix them, allowing us to continue to enjoy them. And it's more common than you realize for an author to eventually get around to fix it themselves.
Can not spawn on a dedicated server, FYI.
Most projects here tho were never really finished or close to perfect.
There was always still something to do.
But after the recent update ...
Theras green lands and mediterran feeling is gone to mostly rocks and barren lands.
If the planet would not have ice anymore it would look like the it's been through some catastrophic solar storms or nuclear war ... exterminatus maybe.
Well the trees still stand on the dusty ground.
I tried to rebuild. startet a new world, placed the planet anew but it stays the same.
Seems like the story needs to move on and find another homebase again.
Anyway. i felt the urge to say something. It has been a wonderful planet.
Thanks for delivering us this paradise.
(If the creator or someone else could fix this tho ... the story stays)
Thera.
This was my homeworld for quite some time.
The rocky spire in the big ocean was the base of operations and got steady connection to the moon and its shipyards via satellites and laser antennas. A freighter Pad for the asteroid miners delivery or some other big ships that come and go. Some hydroponic domes and even a Observatory and a Seaport. (no ships yet tho)
Some other archipels were build up as resorts - places to calm down and relax, with a lot of decoration and colorful buildings. Nightclubs, restaurants or simple camping areas, with vehicles only driven by clean energy and enough recharging stations
One also got a beautyful a lighthouse ... it had a bit of the jurrassic park feeling, just without dinosaurs.
In the more desert-ish area there was a secret underground testing facility, engineered to build combat vehicles and atmospheric warmachines in a standardized line.
No grass, only rare trees standing alone in the desert steppe....
Thanks and always beautiful mod.
Not sure you are active or monitoring this mod but if it is OK with you please let me know (If I ever did post it on the workshop I would be giving you full credit for your work).
Also I had a look what I could find of the files themselves and I am not seeing anything like what is described in Keens guide to modifying planetary environments…if anyone can point me in the direction of whatever it is that I am missing I would be most grateful. Thanks!
