would it be possible to attatch a smoke or steam effect to decal blood? That would really add to the "acid" effect when using it for xenomorphs

No my friends. It is darker. Remember that the actual blood melts, it's acid, so what you would be seeing is parts of alien flesh splattered on the walls and the ground.
