Seems like the bow attatched to the Kataphraktoi makes the game crash when loading a battle. Unsure if its the same with Koursores.

It should definately not crash. It may be something else interferring with the mod (any other mods left in your data folder that always turns on), something wrong with your vanilla data.pack relating to AoC or incompatability with other mods.

I had this along with Theme of Sicily, and your fire ships and Onagar mods. I toggled a few things, but whenever I did a custom game with them with this one ticked, it just stopped.

After subscribing this mod, AoC breaks down when I try to fight on a battle map in campaign, not autoresolve...

Hmmn I might add a few more special units, but I dont want to overextend the unit roster, compared to other vanilla AoC factions. I added proto-Varangians, seeing how they are the most iconic and 2-handed axes are rare in AoC.

If war weariness is not appearing in your game without the AoC Theme of Sicily mods, might need to check what other mods you're using or reinstall/verify cache.

No, war weariness works normally for the faction. I've had the event occur several times (the message saying weariness getting worse, after prolonged war/deafeats).

Ok, the generals issue has been fixed for sure (i've tested it). No need to go back earlier saves, it is save game compatible.

Can't reinstate or raise armies. Also, I haven't played around with my mods enough to check, but does this mod sometimes mess with war exhaustion? it isnt working in my campaign. Can't say im complaining though XD

Hey, which issue? The 1st one mentioned (can't reinstate armies) or the 2nd one (crashing at save)? If for the 2nd, unfortunately yes, load a save before you've upgraded them. The issue was very recent, but is fixed now. Thanks again :)

i have the same issue with the armored dux's guard. Is there any fix or is the only way to get around it with an earlier save? Great work on this by the way, this mod has made AoC way more interesting for me.

i believe there is a glitcc that once you upgrade the dux genereal unit you can no longer create or reinstate armies because the uprgaded unit replaces the original and it confuses the game i hope that was helpful if that is the case, other than that excellent mod i thouroughly enjoy it

New Update:

Added Koursorses (medium) that can be upgraded to Kataphractoi (heavy) after researching chivalry. Drux's Guards can also be upgraded to Armoured Drux's Guards.

Tweaked unit availability and balance (combat and cost).

Interesting. This will make them more fun to fight, even when not playing as them. And being able to play as an 'echo' of Rome was always something I enjoyed.

I can direct you how to make this change, if it helps and makes it easier:
Make this tweak using PFM (from Tw Center): . First, go to main_units_tables, and look for that campaign_cap column near the beginning. replace these with 0.

First of all I would like to say thank you for your work. I also appreciate that it stays true to the vanilla game and there are english names that fit how the game was originally made. I believe your mod will be put to good use until CA makes DLC for this faction, which i strongly think will happen.

Could I make a request for a non-unit limit version of this mod? I like having the freedom to build what i want providing i have the cash :) also brings back fine memories of playing ME1 and 2 TW.

Just to update, I've recently uploaded my own Theme of Sicily mod that adds all campaign features (missions, Empire event, families, victory conditions, unit roster tied to technology, unique texts, etc) and aims to fit the vanilla AoC content/gameplay:

You can use that with this Unit Expansion mod too.

I've just added levy crossbowmen that can be upgraded to shielded crossbowmen after researching Master of Terrain.

Kataphractoi are now shock cavalry with short spears in charges. They will also use sword and shield in melee, and be able to use bows in long ranges. I've tweaked animations so that spears go on the back when they are in melee.
