I play the orginal game build and don't see AI armies with a lot of artillery and missiles. Most of unites are melee units. So looks like there is no need for rhis mode for now.

i cant get this mod to work for medieval kingdoms. yes it runs with it and does not crash, but 100 turns into the game and still 13 missile unit armies or either mostly cav. and its not just one or 2 armies im seeing like this. it is pretty much all of them.

On 20 unit armies, you get a lot of spears, 12-15, which makes AI armies too cheeseable imo.

I mean, as in the AI recruits A LOT of spears; if you use 41 unit armies, you see upwards of 35 spears with barely any cav or missiles, a bit tedious if you ask me! If you could have a look into this, it'd be great.

Way too much spears, sadly; cannot replace the mod of better recruitment (and that also allowed the AI and you to recruit everything per city tiers instead of the dumb buildings). Shame.

would it be possible to make a version of this which is faction dependent and more historically accurate? So huns and eastern factions for example would have more archers and mounted archers and cavalry in general than roman and germanic factions

I like seeing less missile troops and finally no onager spam so very nice indeed :steamhappy:. For gameplay reasons I find there should be slightly more cavalry and maybe +1 missile in every army, but that only my impression after using the mod a lot.

EloquentParadox - go to the game directory, the data folder, and rename ATT_better_army_composition.pack to ___ATT_better_army_composition.pack. Basically now the game will try to load the mod first, and then the others.

893 - i think someone else had an issue of that before, but apparently had something to do with the celts having only wardogs left to recruit (barracks destroyed). Some armies are indeed spear heavy, like picts. Others depending on their historical preference tend to be melee heavy.

Thanks for the mod! Just some feedback from my Turn 300 Hun Campaign using this mod:
- Caledonians have armies made up of 80% war dogs
- Most armies are very spear heavy
- There are mostly 1-2 missile armies rather than 2-3
