I was just reading an article on byzantine military that corroborates and relates to something else I was reading today in Pohl the Avars that mentioned the the kite shield coming to Rome with the Avar invasion. That was a time of transition largely speaking from shieldwall to more loose order melee and then back to shieldwall tactics from Carpathia to Britain. For tactical reasons it wasn't a good fit for the army at large until much later, but some of the excubitores might have gotten the kite shield. Who knows? There's only so many variations you can make with these models and it's cool what a shield can do for your imagination. Good job this really captured the diversity and the eclectic nature of the dark age army. I dig your choices.

wrong shields. normans are the ones they were inspired to get the kite shield. normans dont exist in this era.

man this a good mod but not historical. The army you have created is the Komnenos army. The army build by the Basileus Alexios of house Komnenos, who take power in 1080, so century after the age of charlemagne

this mod, we don't run for a new actualization!

Looks great, however i wish the skutatoi had more than just red shirts. Now they look too similiar to be truly authentic. Mix in some others colours and it will be perfect. Also the imperial skutatoi all have the same shield symbol, isnt that kinda odd for this time period.
Also there is alot of red and white, how abouth adding in some blue/green etc.
Anyway thank you very much for the mod. :)
