Is the planet supposed to have a breathable atmo? I'm getting low O2 no matter where on the planet I travel to.

Wanted to replace the alien planet with this one on my multiplayer server.

Had issues with asteroids in the sky and not being able to place it in the same exact spot as the alien one.

@rolstone76 It should be between <PlanetGeneratorDefinition> and </PlanetGeneratorDefinition>

Be sure to put it in the definition of the correct planet.

@Sebastian Thanks for your speedy response, I have tried cut and pasting the code you responded with into (what I believe is) the description of the planet, and have seen no apparent change. Does it need to be inserted between two specific lines to function properly? as that is perhaps what I have done wrong

@rolstone76 It should be possible to edit your save file, like I said in my last comment. Just put this into the definition of the planet:

<AnimalSpawnInfo>
<Animals>
<Animal Type="SpaceSpider"/>
<Animal Type="SpaceSpiderBrown"/>
<Animal Type="SpaceSpiderBlack"/>
</Animals>
</AnimalSpawnInfo>

I can't guarantee that it works, since I can't test it at the moment. Would be nice if you could tell me if it worked!

@Jimmy Probably not, but you can easily modify your save file with notepad++ or something like that. Just change <SurfaceGravity>0.8</SurfaceGravity> to something else in the SANDBOX_0_0_0_.sbs file.

@Tredlador Yeah the internet is amazing.

Unfortunately dark planets are not possible, since the atmosphere doesn't block any light. And there are no volumetric clouds and fog starts only after a few hundred meters. So it would probably look like shit. So not really possible atm :/

But it's only a matter of time until someone does xenomorphs. Maybe LV-426 will be possible in the future as well.

@wolf4243 I export cube maps from space engine, for this one and the other Nubis planets, I took the cloud maps :P The thing is space engine planets have a real life scale, so the height maps have the wrong scale for SE. That's why I took the cloud maps. Then I edit them with GIMP 2.9. I convert the bit-depth of the images to 16-bit then do some smoothing. For this one I did some more advanced editing to get the sand dunes and the rocky mountains. It's a lot of work.

@Tredlador I did not know his work! And you're right I love it.
Looks like some games took inspiration from his work. It looks a lot like Planet Explorers and Grav.

A lot of the things he does cannot be easily done in SE, though. Like the arches or floating terrain for example. These are things that cannot be done through heightmaps. Maybe if you could mod the stones that contain ores, then it would be possible. But there is no guide yet, I tried to mod them, but no luck so far.

I hope in the future keen will add more detail to planets, because atm it is pretty hard to do a decent looking planet without any vegatation.
I would love to do stuff like this.

Good ideas low density trick is fun when you land on Eremus and it makes difficult to use atmospheric engins moreover few ice limit H2 production to leave the planet too it's clever the solution is to mix atmospheric engin and ion ones but platinum must be found first ;-)

@wolf4243 So you can't breathe despite it being set to breathable? Interesting, I did not know that. I did not yet have the chance to test them all in survival. The low density atmosphere is intended. I will change the oxygen level, though.

I will also update the description to include atmosphere density.
It was intended to get ice from an outside source. I wanted to have just enough to get off the planet, but not enough for large scale production.

Well i understand but when i land on this planet in survival mod which is quite hard cause atmosphere density is only 0.5 (crashed the first time) if i take off my helmet i die thus the planet is not breathable.

If the oxygen level is hardly breathable at low height on planet surface then it will be worse on high hills or montains for instance.

Normally oxygen level can be low and breathable if oxygen level > 0.5 on surface

By the way it's true ice is hard to find so i went with mine from one planet of my owns ;)

Some of the pics you made remind me of Roger Dean's artwork. You'll love him if you don't already, (Sci-fi fantasy art from the 70s)

I don't know if there's planet assets that can be edited or created, but Roger Dean would defo serve as an interesting inspiration for a planet, not that Eremus doesn't already remind me of his work.

@wolf4243 It's intended as a starter planet so breathable atmosphere is a nice thing to have, since ice is particularly hard to find as well. I wanted it to have a fairly low oxygen rate, so it doesn't feel like a perfectly safe place. I don't really know what the oxygen rate corresponds to since it's obviously not the percentage of oxygen in the atmosphere. Why 0.5? All my planets are still subject to balancing changes, though.

Keen put out a hotfix a few hours ago that fixes the issue with custom planets. This works again, at least for me.

Hi i like this planet a lot but may i ask you why did you set breathable planet as true but with only 0.4 Oxygen rate in the atmosphere should'nt it be at least 0.5 ?

As of patch 117 the height maps for custom planets do not load there by causing the errors you see. This happens with all custom planets including my own.

Good question. I've had two saves with this planet, both were unusable and from before the update. So the mod was installed and the planet was placed prior to patching. I will perform some more tests. Hmm, Had to remove the planet via setoolbox - never thought about removing the mod itself... interesting. From your reply and the absence of similar posts here I take it that everything works for you and anyone else? :steamhappy:

I do not have any other mods installed, it does happen on the earthlike too. I believe it may be to do with the new Crimson drivers for AMD GPUs. I reverted to an older version and it worked for a bit, but now it's broken again.. Really odd.

This planet is the best mod planet there is on the workshop, the dunes are incredible. But sadly the new update seems to be broke savegame compatibility.
