I'm not really sure if or when do I get my hands on the sound files in order to correct them but still, I'm pleased to know that most of it was to your liking.
(yeah about the RPK just chose it coz it sounded intimidating and badass, didn't keep that minor detail in mind)
However, feel free to select other option from the workshop, I've seen some battlefield 3 explosions sounds which might be, as you describe, "ear friendly" check them out and thanks for your comment!

But some sounds like they are from distant, not first person hearing. (M14, M590, Makarov, Model10, M1911)
