Sorry if you've already answered this, but how exactly does the spawning work? Does it check for the first spawn and then go down the list, or does it choose out of every npc at once?

this mod has nothing to do with nodes, whether nodes are relevant depends on what kind of NPCs you're spawning. This addon just does the spawning, the NPCs have to figure out the navigation.

You can give them custom weapons by going to weapon menu, right clicking whatever weapon you wanna give them (it just needs to support NPCs like TFA or ARRCW) and then going to the menu and pasting that into the empty weapon box (not the drop down menu)

Yeah I don't know what this is called in settings but I cannot find it, and the spawn rate is so high on spawn that it is crashing my game and the NPC's can't be mass deleted. I don't know how this is supposed to be working but this isn't it.

So, how would you recommend setting it up to be procedural? So, the npc only spawns ahead of the player, maybe out of sight?

gotta use cvar zinv
zinv 0 to disable, zinv 1 to enable
the addon has some weird float thing for that cvar if you use the menu

Exactly what I was looking for, thank you.

Tested it on a whole bunch of custom maps and as long as the map has spawning nodes the mod is working perfectly.

I have found out that Sebre-aN's Headcrab zombie mod is one of the addons that causes the spawn menu errors. I don't expect you to know or even attempt to fix it but just thought I'd let you know. No other mod I have causes errors though.

somebody really needs to make a mod so that if an NPC gets killed by a headcrab they get turned into a zombie (but keep their original model if possible)

what the fuuuck, this refuses to work ;-; i know its not the addon because all similar addons related to spawning needing ai nodes and nav mesh just dont work.

One thing that might be easy, might be difficult, is to add the option for npc's to spawn with their default weapons. VJ base NPC's can spawn with specific or randomised weapons, which aren't base hl2 weapons. I will happily wait for this as I understand how busy life is with 2 jobs!

Also though on a real note, if this ever gets worked on again, please expand the weapon spawn list for heroes to addon weapons too. Similar to how the npc spawn list has addon npcs, not just hl2/base ones.

@CrabbyStork hey i'm still around and i still read these comments, however i'm much busier nowadays and unfortunately can't address the issues people raise. the last version of the addon was supposed to be stable enough for the long term - most of the issues people raise relate to missing info nodes, collisions with other addons or similar issues which are out of scope... sorry if you guys were expecting more. i do hope to revisit and see whether more improvements can be made but honestly if i do get back to addon development i'll probably work directly on s&box. p.s. lua is a truly awful language.......
