I don't have the free time to get that done right now, sorry. I don't mind linking to such a mod in the description if you or someone else creates it though! And I appreciate the suggestion.
Garpfruit 19 Jun, 2022 @ 9:42pm
Could you maybe update the model to be in line with the catwalk stairs aesthetic in the vanilla game? Honestly I just want someone to take the default half stairs and squish the model to make it a 2x1 slope.

can I have permission to upload this mod to mod.io plz sir or can you upload this mod to mod.io plz
Kirkmaximus 16 Jan, 2018 @ 1:45pm
Small, but fun mod. Thanks!

no dx11

On second thought, I've looked at what I think it might be, and I'm pretty stumped. Could you double check that this happens in a world with no other mods enabled? if it does, I'm kinda lost.
K4tniss  [author] 28 Oct, 2016 @ 5:03pm
Line 432, to your second question. As to the crash, I think I may know what's causing it, thank you.
K4tniss  [author] 28 Oct, 2016 @ 2:23pm
@Void Stitch Thanks! I can't help you without a crashlog, though. I'll update the Issues thread with brief instructions
K4tniss  [author] 1 Mar, 2016 @ 5:15pm
@Crimson Revenant thanks! Glad you find it useful! I actually learned that people used stairs that way /after/ I made the mod, It's rather amusing. The stairs pointing the wrong direction would bug me a bit too much, I think. ^^
Crimson Revenant 1 Mar, 2016 @ 3:58pm
I accidentally discovered this the other day when I climbed stairs I had placed in a verticle position. Love that you made a ladder using this idea.
K4tniss  [author] 4 Feb, 2016 @ 12:01pm
Glad to hear that @Darkaiser!
Darkaiser 4 Feb, 2016 @ 9:06am
These will be PERFECT for my Battlecruiser build!
Shaostoul 3 Feb, 2016 @ 7:44pm
No problem. :) The frustrating part about this is, yours will always work as intended. The one by Digi could break on any update, given the chance that the devs change something. His is different, due to the scripting associated with it, which people associate with cooler, but yours will always be reliable. Personally, something like this, I'd always want reliably easy to use. Especially considering we have to stick with block sizes.
K4tniss  [author] 3 Feb, 2016 @ 6:26pm
@Shaostoul thanks, that means a lot to me coming from you =)
Shaostoul 3 Feb, 2016 @ 4:36pm
Just to be clear, this mod came out: Jan 13 @ 1:58pm

Digi's mod came out: Jan 13 @ 8:06pm

Sooo... Technically this is the first working ladder mod.

Digi's are just scripted to actually allow for straight up and down climbing. Which is not an easy task.

Never discourage someone from doing something creative. It's in poor taste.

Keep up the good work K4tniss
K4tniss  [author] 24 Jan, 2016 @ 7:12pm
I'm aware @Sarantis, but thanks.
PanzerMarmerlade 23 Jan, 2016 @ 1:12pm
They already made a working ladder mod. Not perfect but vertical and you can go up and down.
Kerian Halcyon 21 Jan, 2016 @ 8:05pm
Perhaps. Even for looks, that'd be nice. Besides which at some point in the future I'll bet you'll be able to find some way to make it functional ^^
K4tniss  [author] 21 Jan, 2016 @ 4:27pm
Hey, I have a question for you people: It looks like a collab with Digi isn't going to happen, would you still want a vertical version of this, even a non-working one?
K4tniss  [author] 20 Jan, 2016 @ 11:50am
You didn't @Kerian, and thanks!
Kerian Halcyon 19 Jan, 2016 @ 11:12pm
Hey K4t, in case if I didn't comment already these look great! I can't wait to try them out >u<
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 2:05pm
ok:steamhappy:
K4tniss  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 1:40pm
No problem, just something to keep in mind ^^
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 1:01pm
sorry!
K4tniss  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 12:48pm
Again, @capraunc I have stated in the description exactly what it this mod is and how it works. And yes, I've seen Digi's ladder mod. I've even contacted Digi in an attempt to collaborate and have a version of my ladder that works the same way, although it doesn't look like he plans on responding. Please don't spam the comments, by the way.
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 12:24pm
Take A Look
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 12:24pm
His Name Is Digi
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 12:23pm
oh heheh overlooked the discription! But Someone Else Made A Ladder That Works
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 12:22pm
Sorry,I Didn't Know If It Worked Or Not I Didn't Try It Yet.Maybe you Could Say It In The Discription? Not To Be Rude Or Anything.
K4tniss  [author] 19 Jan, 2016 @ 11:58am
@capraunc how doesn't it work for you? I'll start a discussion for issues, if you'd post the issue you're having there it could be a big help in me getting it working.
@Dwarf-Lord Pangolin and @danlovejoy: thanks!
@Sarantis. a) I say exactly what it is in the description. b) They're ramps with the model* AND texture of a ladder =P
ALSO: is the description not showing for anyone else? I think steam workshop might be derping again...
TortoTheConqueror 19 Jan, 2016 @ 11:09am
cool if it worked...
Dwarf-Lord Pangolin 19 Jan, 2016 @ 10:56am
Reminds me of the "stairs" in the few warships I've visited. Very nice!
PanzerMarmerlade 19 Jan, 2016 @ 9:47am
These are not ladders. They are ramps with a texture of a ladder. Sorry mate.
Primal_DLove 19 Jan, 2016 @ 12:45am
good work. ill be using this and digis ladders on my ships for now on. because sometimes you need a ladder in a tight spot (digi) and sometimes you just need a way up
K4tniss  [author] 18 Jan, 2016 @ 9:10am
Thanks? I think? Also I wanted to apologize to y'all that've subscribed because this update is taking longer than I wanted. I've been playing with collision (bad idea) and it turns out I can't quite fix collision between ladders, or 'halves' of ladders as I had wanted to implement.
As such, if I break the 2x1 slope into two 1x1 blocks as I had planned you'll only "stumble" twice as often when climbing. The only "fix" I've found to this is sprinting up the slope seems to be a bit smoother, or using the ladders horizontally which is somewhat unintuitive.
I'm still not sure what I want to do to fix this or to alert players in-game, so any ideas on your part are welcome, but I'll try to figure it out in the next week. I'm also not sure what this means for the small ship blocks many of you had requested, which appear to have the same issue except magnified because block junctions are every 0.5m.
K4tniss  [author] 17 Jan, 2016 @ 7:06pm
Thanks!
MaverickMartyn 17 Jan, 2016 @ 2:15pm
By the way, cool mod! I am using this as well as Digi's mod.
K4tniss  [author] 17 Jan, 2016 @ 12:55pm
@sargentmyself I may be incorrect, but I believe this went up like a full day before @Digi posted his mod, and to be fair I believe that Digi's mod is a block + script working together, this is purely a block mod with no extra stuff going on, which is what I meant by that.
Thanks!
sargentmyself 17 Jan, 2016 @ 8:58am
Man, Bad Luck You, "re-modeled 2x1 slopes since that's the closest that a block mod can come to adding ladders at the moment" posted the same day a fully climbable lader mod got released.

This is pretty cool though and hopefully alot less buggy
MaverickMartyn 15 Jan, 2016 @ 5:04pm
Also. your best chance is to send him a friend request and write a message on his profile.
MaverickMartyn 15 Jan, 2016 @ 5:04pm
I am sure Digi will let you look at his code as long as you give appropriate credit.
He allowed my to use the code from his Concrete mod, for my Soil Toll mod.
He is a great developer.
K4tniss  [author] 15 Jan, 2016 @ 2:51pm
Hi! I'm getting ready to release 1.2, which will include an option to use the ladder in two parts so you can stack it as high as you like. I'm also planning on reaching out to Digi to see if I can get a vertical version of this working with his code, if he allows it. @Danktor, do you mean a 45 degree angle? I'll consider adding that to the Todo list. Thanks for the comments!
MaverickMartyn 15 Jan, 2016 @ 2:37pm
Hey K4tniss!
In case you would be interested in it, take a look at Digi's new ladder mod.
It is an actual functional vertical ladder.
I am sure he would allow you to use his code, if you ask him.
KILLFUCC SOULSHIEITTER 15 Jan, 2016 @ 1:58pm
1x1 Ladder slanted?
K4tniss  [author] 13 Jan, 2016 @ 6:14pm

Riverey 13 Jan, 2016 @ 5:07pm
@K4tniss thaanks!
K4tniss  [author] 13 Jan, 2016 @ 4:10pm
@Riverey added to the todo list, although possibly not exactly like you mean... we'll see lol
Riverey 13 Jan, 2016 @ 4:02pm
@K4tniss oh, sorry, I didn't cleared it out)
No, I meant a not angled and modular version. By "modular" I mean that it should be like one "square" of the ladder so we would be ablo to make ladders as big as we want
K4tniss  [author] 13 Jan, 2016 @ 3:52pm
Also, thanks Lyle.
