for me, its working. all the big onagers are gone, i saw 2 Hunnic generals with no unit but there's still some that has full stack or half a stack. if you want to check if the mod working out or not, select a Hun army look at the General/Army stat in the corner then look at the "War Fevor" trait to see if the -100 upkeep is down to 75%

After almost 70 turns nothing changed. I assume mod is not working properly.

it's working but -75% doesnt make a difference so i changed it to -50% which more balanced, no more nuclear huns. They are still the strongest faction but no more unending doom stacks

This works and changes the game in a good way.

Instead of fighting Huns over and over again, which gets boring, now other factions have the chance to become serious threats. Still, with the value of -75% upkeep you see 4-5 hordes at the gates of Ravenna but after you defeat them it takes a while before they come back. In the meantime other factions fight against the Huns.

It is interesting to see how the world develops without these all-mighty Huns. Use this mod with the mod 'AI conquers the world' and Europe will be a dynamic battlefield.

if CA wanted a Hord difficult to stop - seems to me they could address and buff income instead of unleveling the freaking playing field in such a cavalier and unfriendly manner When the hord spam starts - i just restart a new campain - this mod helps though with 12 turns per year you can get well ahead of the Huns usualy

can you please make a version with %0 upkeep. i know it's basically cheating and huns will suffer a lot . but i really dont like huns (because devs never bothered to make them a legit threat instead they just cheat their way through ) . i really dont feel like wasting 50 turns trying to eradicate huns and hold my campaign to west.

Try removing their death trait? Perhaps, if possible, find a way to reduce the obtuse strength of some of their units?

The change this mod makes is very small which means that it should be compatible with every other mod as long as the "War fervor" trait is not changed.
I tried making other tweaks. What I wanted is to change the army composition eg taking away their large onagers. But as nearly everything about the huns is controlled by the preservation script no change that I make works and I do not know why. I guess that is why there is no mod that prevents the huns from spawning their armies. I would have liked a medieval two style mongol invasion for the huns, not this non-stop spawning nonsense.

There is another mod that removes the 'Death' trait from the huns and thus allows you to replenish armies even if the huns have such a scary force as 16 men left in one of their obliterated death stacks. Is there any chance that you would expand this mod to include that or some other slight nerfing to the cheating huns?

No that is controlled by the preservation script. Unfortunately no matter what I change it does not work. So no idea whats wrong. However I think there is another mod that does something like reducing the number of armies that spawn. The spawning itself cannot be deactivated, as far as I know

Thank you for this fix. I hated how CA just gave the huns stronger units than everyone and a bunch of buffs that weaken everyone else. Can't make them smarter or some sort of terror modifier over time.
