Dawning of Darkness, the origin of this Dark Shadow.

I'm glad that you provided blue/dark blue stripes- Well...I mean...red is also my favourite color but blue and dark blue stripes look more cooler. Good job btw.

OMG you nearly made my avatar o.o
Tyonic  [author] 27 Jan, 2016 @ 6:21pm
@Sans it's the stage making the eyes glow. the eye reflection texture does this when the stage has certain lighting.
Novarek 27 Jan, 2016 @ 3:33pm
@RandomTBush That's what I said about giving proper credit, it's on the "permission" that I'm not agree, unless the one who uploaded his model on the workshop claim a full intellectual property on it, I don't see why we should ask a permission to edit his stuff, in fact it's probably by that way that most of us have learned how to do 3D modelling, texture, rig...
RandomTBush 27 Jan, 2016 @ 2:19pm
@Novarek: Well of course Sega's the original owners for the models, I was referring to the people who spent the time to get the model ported to the Source Engine in the first place. If someone re-uploads their models to the Workshop, they should at least get a bit of recognition since porting isn't always the easiest thing to do.

And I know Sega actually doesn't have a problem with it -- a couple of SFM videos with Sonic were shown off on their Twitter page before.
Novarek 27 Jan, 2016 @ 6:05am
@(G.E.W.P) Sonicbmx3 Easy, decompil the model, edit its QC in order to target another root path for the instal (for both the model AND the texture, copy/paste the VMT and VTF and edit there root path of the VMT as well), recompil and here you have your copied model with no dependency to the original model, meaning that every edit you will do on it will not effect the original model.
Lowinor 26 Jan, 2016 @ 8:24pm
i just want to know how did you made this as a model
Kris 26 Jan, 2016 @ 6:34pm
Btw, how are the eyes glowing in the preview image? I can tell by how some light is reflecting.
Tyonic  [author] 26 Jan, 2016 @ 6:17pm
@Sans i'll see what i can do.
Kris 26 Jan, 2016 @ 6:04pm
You should consider changing his eyes to a glowing texture.
Tyonic  [author] 26 Jan, 2016 @ 3:09pm
@(G.E.W.P) Sonicbmx3 kind of yes? But since this is the first thing i made for steam which the "decompileing and recompileing" part was how much time it took to build this.
Tyonic  [author] 26 Jan, 2016 @ 3:06pm
@Novarek thanks for getting things straight out to some people.
Honestly i'd had never edited a model besides retexturing, but i want to learn on making custom models in the time being. There is going to be an update on darkshadow soon, however i can stress the fact of having to see a bunch of reskins and or the exact same model being posted over billions of times like mlp and fnaf that had overflowed the steam workshop.
If Apoc Hedgie had any kind of problem for this model being released on the steam workshop, i will take this down personally.
Novarek 26 Jan, 2016 @ 11:48am
@surfer171 I have recently released a asset pack which hold a lot of edited Sonic stuff, some of them are 100% made from scratch, some other use some part from the model imported by RTB and Apoc (mostly only the head), I take the exemple of Blaze, her rig was almost completely rebuild (because of the new mesh), her skeleton was heavely edited in order to support jigglebone effectively, even her skin texture for the head and her whole normal is edited/new, but I haven't asked the permission from RTB and Apoc and for this kind of heavy editing, I will not.

Except if and only if the model was 100% from scratch, in that case yes i ask a permission for releasing the edited stuff, otherwise I still edit that stuff but keep it for privat use.
Novarek 26 Jan, 2016 @ 11:44am
@surfer171 Well in that case, RTB and Apoc probably would have asked first a formal authorisation to Sega for importing the model into SFM, you see what I mean?

I'm not a fan of the fact to simply reskin a model already available in the workshop, unless you do one and only one big pack with all your reskin inside that you can update later, in order to keep the workshop clean, otherwise that remind me the FNAF invasion of these past week (and let's hope this shit is over...).
surfer171 26 Jan, 2016 @ 8:47am
still @novarek, if you're a person who likes said user who ported models from games, i would pay respect by not modifying the texture instead by presenting the idea to the model porter if the character is relevant to the cannon part of the game and wait for them to weigh the discission
Novarek 26 Jan, 2016 @ 8:24am
@surfer171 And he don't realy need it since all the Sonic and cast model are imported model from official game, not a model made from scratch (like the Mecha Sonic one we got recently), the only thing he need to do (by respect) is to give credit to RTB and Apoc for the initial port.
surfer171 25 Jan, 2016 @ 10:59pm
Regardless @RTB, there's no photographic proof the user asked permission or gain the rights to modify the model.
Lowinor 25 Jan, 2016 @ 10:25pm
wait tch when you said of decompiling and recompiling was that a compement
?????
Tyonic  [author] 25 Jan, 2016 @ 5:47pm
@BUZZ It is a seperate model
Tyonic  [author] 25 Jan, 2016 @ 5:45pm
@(G.E.W.P) Sonicbmx3 lots of decompiling and recompiling
Tyonic  [author] 25 Jan, 2016 @ 5:14pm
@RandomTBush: Wow i'd never thought you would be here to comment!
RandomTBush 25 Jan, 2016 @ 5:08pm
@Dr Genocide: At least Tch356 gave credit to Apoc Hedgie for the original model port, which is more than about 90% of the other SFM reskins *cough-MLP-OCs-cough*.

Being the co-author of that Sonic pack, I'm not gonna complain about this reskin being on the Workshop, it's up to Apoc Hedgie.
Bayside 25 Jan, 2016 @ 2:19pm
Wow. Edgy as a sphere. (Please god don't start bringing the Sonic fanbase into this)
SamiSha 25 Jan, 2016 @ 7:11am
Oh the edge...
That Guy 25 Jan, 2016 @ 2:51am
The edge is even more darker
Novarek 24 Jan, 2016 @ 11:38pm
There is already a "dark form" skin for Shadow in the original Dark Pack of Apoc.
surfer171 24 Jan, 2016 @ 7:00pm
You don't have full permission and rights to modify the model. Why don't you take it down and find something better to contribute
TicTacTonicPlatonic1996 24 Jan, 2016 @ 5:16pm
the edge hurts
JDRider 24 Jan, 2016 @ 4:09pm
ow the edge
Geno 24 Jan, 2016 @ 4:08pm
Yeah but...you didn't exactly get permission to reupload their model. Different texture or not, it's not really your model to upload.
Lowinor 24 Jan, 2016 @ 4:05pm
how did you made that as a model
Turret 3471 24 Jan, 2016 @ 4:01pm
This is really cool! Just wondering, does this replace any skins, or is it one where I can just use $basetexture to put it on?
