Not many buildings are enabled as of yet, but I'm doing my part by at least switching it on for my medium-sized buildings...
Waiting for RICO's tools to become available so I can make it function as a regular office building! Meanwhile, I'll look into adding a small amount of tourism.
Looking forward with what you can add to the office collection.
A taller unique is probably easier in this case, since I can slap on the extra floors no problem and just try something different for the roof. The thing is though, there's no shortage of 100m+ skyscrapers on the workshop, even broadly in this style.
In any case, life's gotten a lot busier for me from this week onward so I'm definitely not going to be putting three buildings on the workshop inside six days like last week -_-
I would love to see more types (slightly taller and lower, different sizes, corner buildings ?).
I'm planning on adding (a) growable version(s) later, but to me it felt like initially at least the game could really use some more mid-sized uniques. Hopefully I can add meaningful gameplay effects to these uniques (lvl 3-type office employment) through the RICO mod soon!
Nice job on this btw.
Maybe modders could do it eventually, but not with the current tools AFAIK.
Great ideas on the street level experience as well, but IMO for this building they're kind of moot: the ground floor is a 'mechanical' floor here! It's a pretty huge shortcut for me to take haha, no more having to think about what kind of stuff is going on behind those tall windows, but with this setup it works out pretty well.
I'll show you what I mean based on my WIP double-height version [i.imgur.com]: current building in the back, 11 floors, has its single (reduced-footprint) mechanical floor on ground level. New WIP tower, double the height, has them on ground level and on the 21st (top) floor, neatly simulating the need for more heating, ventilation, AC, pumping, etc.
So.... a shortcut :)
I saw someone had an idea a while ago for semi-random street-level "billboards" that would mimic shop windows in the front of buildings. A larger hut or kiosk on the sidewalk level promenade here for newsstand or hot dogs would break it up.
Prop randomization? Like with the doohickeys that can place either of the ACs, logos, those things? With this building prop placement feel pretty 'set', but I could always work it in with the next ones. Great tip!
I gave this one a nice little spot in my city, and that made me think: have you considered color variations or prop randomization? Because this building is a perfect example of a Not So Unique Building (tm)
