The laser catcher closes the door, disconnect the laser, the door will open.

well, you are right, it does not come out, there should be a grate with a white wall behind it, go back there, place the cube in the wall and press the button, the first room is meant to be like a Gel pump station, just like in the main game, I hoped that helped you in the first room.
