Used to use this all the time - but no matter what now it appears to be not doing anything. I get the Mod settings in the game - I have tried changing the ini(s) manually (like stated below) but new games never start with more than 1 of each.

Not sure why it isn't working anymore for me.
SienzPotato 22 Feb @ 6:44pm
Doesn't work.
Owns: Base XCOM2 game, WoTC, Tactical Legacy Pack only. cause cant buy the bundle (Alien hunter, resistance pack, shen's gift etc) after having owned one of the items in the bundle (Base XCOM2).

Can’t work on the base game anymore.
Rampagerabbit 21 Aug, 2024 @ 1:37am
@sin the fix still works. For those who want to change the starting staff amount, just open the XComStartingStaff_Settings_Defaults.ini file in the Config folder and change the lines below from 1 to any number you like. it works on save games too

[StartingStaff.StartingStaff_Settings_Defaults]
+NumStartingEngineers=1 <--- change to any number you like
+NumStartingScientists=1 <--- change to any number you like
+ConfigVersion=1

Having the same problem as Freebird below me. Any fixes?
Freebird 4 Jan, 2022 @ 9:20am
Mod does not work and does not even show up in the Launcher.

Doing the workaround posted by @Tristus helped. I added "RequiresXPACK=false", since I don't have the DLC.
Solustos 25 Nov, 2021 @ 4:37pm
Thank you, @Tristus. That fixed it for me!
Skjoldrun 9 Nov, 2021 @ 3:07am
Had the same problem, but was able to fix it with some modifications in the modfile ( \steamapps\workshop\content\268500\620218278\StartingStaff.XComMod ). I added the line with RequiresXPACK=true and deleted a redundant line with description= . The mod appeared in the launcher after that and was activated in the game again.
Whyte One 20 May, 2021 @ 1:10pm
does not even show up in the MCM or the mods list in the base mod manager.
Whyte One 20 May, 2021 @ 1:10pm
Sooo, i have tried a few things and i cannot get this mod to work for a new run through of the base game. please any help? also, don't suggest the alternative launcher because i tried that as well and it did work with it either.
Karzon 16 Jan, 2021 @ 9:10am
@wesley : A may 2020 patch broke non-wotc mods. Google alternative mod launcher, it works around this. The other way is to open every incompatible mod's .xcommod file (inside steamapps\workshop\content\268500) and add the line RequiresXPACK=true to the end (If you look through mods that DO work, you'll notice it's because they already have the line.)
wesley 13 Jan, 2021 @ 6:56pm
i love this mod but i cant seem to get it to work with WoTC and it used to work for it but now the game isnt reconizing it or any other mod that used to work with WoTC.
DragonKingAbashī 27 Oct, 2020 @ 12:12pm
That is odd? It works for me without any edits or fixes. Not sure why it wouldn't work for you as well. Maybe the workshop isn't installing all of the files or something else? I would recommending looking up the troubleshoot guide for Xcom 2 WOTC modding. That might answer your questions.
RebeledgeSec 27 Oct, 2020 @ 12:05pm
@DragonKingAbashi, yes, I am using the mod Config menu. The problem arises that when I launch XCOM2 from my system, it does not recognize this mod as belonging or compatible with WOC. I have tried to fiddle with it myself, but when downloading this file from Steam, the files are only apparently dropped into the XCOM2 folders, not the WOC folders. again, I tried doing a cut and paste of the files, but the game itself isn't recognizing the mod. I'm not sure if this is from the recent update or what the issue is.
DragonKingAbashī 14 Oct, 2020 @ 5:19pm
It worked for me when I started a campaign on Friday. I typically start my campaigns with one of each and when I started the game, I had one engineer and one scientist.

Its possible that you have a mod conflict or need to adjust the mod's ini (should have mentioned that in my previous post. I apologize for that). Personally, you should be using the Mod Config Menu mod. That allows you to adjust the number of starting scientists and engineers in the game menu.
Gorgo 14 Oct, 2020 @ 5:15pm
doesnt work
DragonKingAbashī 22 Sep, 2020 @ 1:40pm
I used this mod in my mod recent campaign and it worked fine. Are you using the Mod Config Menu mod to set the number of scientists and engineers. If that does not work, then it must be a mod conflict on your end. I would advice looking up some of the mod troubleshoot guides out there if you are still having issues.
RebeledgeSec 22 Sep, 2020 @ 11:19am
Appears to be out of date. Doesn't work with WOTC anymore. Is there plans for further development?
chantzofdeth 9 Aug, 2020 @ 11:59pm
To make this mod work with WOTC simply add the following code line to the xcom2 mod file which is located in the same folder as the Src file

RequiresXPACK=true

Here is an example of it within Grimys loot mod which I also had to adjust to make it work

[mod]
publishedFileId=1142377029
Title=GrimyLootModWOTC
Description=This is a port of Grimy's Loot Mod for WOTC.
RequiresXPACK=true
SolidboriS 3 Aug, 2020 @ 4:17pm
Maybe something is wrong with the launcher, but it still doesn't work in WOTC
Postsapien 26 Jul, 2020 @ 7:18am

Great mod. Thank you.

Thanks for your help @Melancholia

When i dont have a internet connexion, steam tell me is offline :
- i can't see the steam workshop in the Xcom2 laucher mods.
- I only see the Nexus Mods (manually installed)

- internet connection seems obligatory for see steam's mods on the XCOM2 laucher mods.
- I see and can play to all my games without workshop add.
- i see games shared by a friend (shared library), but i can't to play. Steam tell me buy his games to be able to play.

So, i suppose internet connexion is obligatory to play XCOM2 with Steam's mod (and to play shared games). I'm wrong ?

(My life / I use the internet connexion of my neighbourd next door, but she move to an other town next month. So i am soon disconnected from the world. If i can't play with steam mods for xcom2, it's going to ruin my life… I hope to find another neighbor sharer or a hotspot code.)

PS : I use Apple computer on Mac OSX.
Emily 15 Nov, 2018 @ 11:39am
Not sure what you mean by that Albertine_Crowley. Steam games and steam workshop mods don't require internet connection to use. Once they're downloaded they're good to go even if you're completely disconnected from the internet for weeks. Steam used to have online check DRM years ago but thankfully that is no longer the case and you can now start Steam in offline mode with full functionality.
Albertine_Crowley 3 Nov, 2018 @ 4:47am
Oh, shit, sorry for you.
I have troble with my internet. Steam Mods necessary is online for play. :/
BlueRaja  [author] 2 Nov, 2018 @ 8:34pm
@Albterine: Sorry, but no, Nexus was horrible to deal with. You can't play the game without Steam, so there's no point anyways.
Albertine_Crowley 2 Nov, 2018 @ 3:33pm
Can you upate Starting taff on Nexus please ? :)
Seo 윤경 1 Nov, 2018 @ 1:20pm

Albertine_Crowley 24 Oct, 2018 @ 10:55am
I love your mod.
No bug with other mods, its perfect.
MurtaghPT 9 Oct, 2018 @ 1:08pm
i dont think this mod is working with the new DLC :/
IOException 21 Jun, 2018 @ 1:12pm
Just wondering if it'd be possible to give your starting engineer the name and picture of Lilly Shen? That'd be perfect... Regardless a great mod I plan to use in my next playthru!
Tim_ 6 Mar, 2018 @ 7:07pm
Just completed a WOTC campaign with 63 mods including this one. All ran perfectly. I like this mod, I will use it again.
MurtaghPT 5 Sep, 2017 @ 1:13pm
hum... weird then cuz my game wont launch well im gonna check the mods i have might have some causing conflicts.
thx for responding :)
BlueRaja  [author] 5 Sep, 2017 @ 1:12pm
@frizzeldian12 @MurtaghPT no no, this is still a vanilla mod. However it also works with WotC (some mods are lucky enough to work with both). I haven't uploaded a new version in 7 months, but I looked at the code and there aren't any changes to be made. I'm also 20 hours into a WotC campaign with this enabled, and it's been working perfectly.
Dęąth Viper 5 Sep, 2017 @ 12:53pm
search it up in the mod like you would any other just type in lab
