We will gratefully keep you informed of the progress that we make.
Many mods are being made currently and it's only a matter of time before we focus on the original classes and their minion spells.
I have been away from torchlight, and torchlight modding for some time, and definitely wont have time to help during this semester. But feel free to PM me links as you see fit and I'll take a look at what youre working on, as my time allows.

I hope you don't mind me linking back to your mods here for the sake of advancing Torchlight Original Classes with a potential mod enhancement from "doudley" and "Aherin".

Is a Torchlight Character defined by Class or Skills?

I have an idea for another class but it requires alot of customizing vanilla skill numbers and using some mobs and bosses for summons and wondered if that was too much to ask...

The class should work fine in multiplayer. Of course, as with any torchlight 2 mods, all players involved have to have the same mods and the same mod order.
If you do experience any bugs, please report them in the bugs discussion.
Speaking multiple languages is admirable.
As for skills being powerful- both Actives and Passives... fortunately all the skills used in this class are from the original classes unmodified- and would not be any more offensively powerful than vanilla classes.
The real power of this class is access to almost all of the original summons and some of the most useful defensive and movement-control skills... again all of these are from the vanilla classes.
In terms of balance: this class has more power than the original classes- yet still vulnerable... this class is better balanced for level 120 Elite bosses actually- who would otherwise rip anything to shreds- that is not a maxed Forcefielded Engineer with lots of damage-reduction socketables...
This class is very balanced if compared to a class like the 'Theolentist' or 'Otaku Fighter'.
Online Gaming: Since this class uses skills from the original classes- it should ( Theoretically ) work in Multiplayer...
Just make sure all players involved are using the exact same mods- if crashes or load screens taking too long are encountered- try removing a mod or more and try again- if bugs still persist with current mods- inform the respective mod authors...
Long Loads and Infinite Load screen Potential FIX
Basically if you experience a infinite load screen in multplayer. Login in again get a fish to
change your pet permanently then get another one to change him back [may require a mod]. Worked for me.
(Changed mine from D3 Treasure Goblin to the weasel and Back)
Also, Done more testing seems it maybe gear related I was able to fix another infinite load [screen] by unequiping gear and then loading [remove armor- leave it off- reload game].
Now this goes without saying but I guess I should say it. Mods edit the game and
may cause errors that cannot always be detected soon enough so backup your characters to be safe. [before you add any new mods to multiplayer- copy and paste mod-character save files].

...and for those who want more summons- just randomly buy the skeleton 'warriors' and 'archers' and 'summon zombies' and 'nether imp' from spell vendors in Acts 3 and 4- and equip them to your spell tabs- for even more summons usable by the User or even the Pet / Companion.
Which makes the skill: 'Share the Wealth'- even more effective I'm guessing.
Personally, I'd rather have some attack skills to supplement my minion army, but the class could definitely be played either way.
And honestly, I just don't yet have the modding skills to create my own custom skills.

I also removed burning leap for forcefield.
I also removed dodge mastery for frozen fate.
Great minds, etc etc.
Im considering removing bane breath for something else.
I really like Rapid Fire, Chaos Shot and Shadowshot.
If there are any other skills that you think aren't useful to the class.. I'd be willing to discuss further changes.
And, once again, I'm looking for a new skill to replace bane breath. As it's pretty underwhelming... though it is, technically, a summoning skill.

Consider that these only support a weapon package of 2 pistols... however do nothing for Bow- Xbow- Shotgun- or Shield+Pistol builds.
I know Focus Stat boosts dual pistols- but that execution is more suited to Berzerker types.
The ideal weapon sets I would run for myself at the same time with this class would be a Vitality heavy Shield-Pistol and switching to a Focus damage-over-time-embered Bow.
Frost Phase or Burning leap- but not both- replace one with a utility or buff skill.
Death's Bounty may be underwhelming if Heal-Bot (passive health regen) and that mage elemental boost (one button every 10ish seconds with good mana regen) are being used.
Shadowshot and Chaos Burst are too similar unless you want diversity... otherwise replace one of them with another poison- fire- or utility skill...
Rapid-Fire is good- but faces competition with Magma Spear:
more DPS- more range- not limited to ranged weapons- and can proc damage-over-time embers inserted into weapons makes Magma Spear worth considering over Rapid-Fire which helps with shadowlings and knockback- however is far less useful if the backflip skill is used.
Blazing Pillar- Fire Storm- Elemental Attunement- Fire Brand- :
Fire skills are good support for this poison class- and Attunement helps greatly on bosses.
Ice Prison- Ice Shield- Battle Standard- Northern Rage- Glacier Shatter.
Ice skills are redundant on this immobilize and slow class- however if supported by the passives:
Shatter Storm and Frozen Fate- they would make an awesome support to Immobile Copter and outlander slow area skill.
So I've looked through the three trees and assuming everything is vanilla- I have some ideas:
