Would recommend moving the path from /mods which was removed to XComGame/Config

The mod as is will work in WotC for the default class weapons and shouldn't cause any problem beyond a warning in the launcher.
I'll be making a new mod that will include the three new hero class weapons for WotC and leave this mod as is so not to affect people who chose not to play the expansion.
Because i'm pretty sure real life military does not care about upgrade limits, if they'll want to - they can put every single thing on a gun and have the most prepared strike team ever.
Again, if they feel like it.
I've been using another mod together with this one to remove the armed to the Teeth bonus and replace it with a proving grounds upgrade, read the details below, the mods don't conflict, ive done nearly 10 campaigns with them with no issues.

Meatybyte, is that possible that you can make a version of this mod compatible with Long War 2 please ?
The Long War 2 mod changes all weapons to allow for 3 upgrade slots by default so you don't need my mod if you are playing Long War 2.
But it seems to be not compstible with semi-official weapon mods for laser and plasma guns from EU/EW. Is there any way to fix this?
I mean, what should I change? Your mod or laser/plasma mods?

Just so you are aware, my mod only adds weapon slots for the default weapons and wouldn't affect the weapons added by mods.
However, some weapon mods so overwrite my mod, I'll download the weapon mods that you listed to test, if you are using any others please tell me and if you have time a link would be appreaciated to where the mod can be downloaded would be great.
That sounds like either my mod was corrupted on download or one of your other mods are conflicting with mine.
Redownloading this mod should fix the first issue, in regards to the second I haven't personally seen any conflict yet and I use quite a few mods in my game, could you give me a list of mods that you are currently running?
All the LW weapon mods already allow you to edit their properties in their own config files.
Please click on the refresh symbol on the top right of the mod launcher window and active all your mods that you want to use.
That normally fixes small problems after you install a DLC.
If that still doesn't work then you might have a mod installed that conflics with mine.
I've used it with the newest update and I'm getting no problems on my end.
Please try it and tell me if it doesn't work for you.
I'm assuming you're referring to the 416 series mod by Yard1PL? If you dig around in the config files there should be a variable to edit it yourself.
It should be located in: Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\268500\627081021\Config
Once you find it open up: XComCV_HK416IAR_HK417DMR.ini and change the "UPGRADESLOTS" from 1 to 3. I think you can even go up to 5 if you want to.
I do this to all the gun mods i download. Kinda scary the first few times and sometimes its a pain to find the mod you're looking for but it isn't too bad once you get the hang of it. Hope that helps!
