Tags? as in mod tags/workshop or the in game shortened tags?

If you mean workshop tags I have never managed or even bothered to look into it so it is just an item on the workshop lol :P
macelharen 2 Sep, 2017 @ 7:45am
no worries, mate. inspired by you, i created my own mod. The most annoying thing? figuring out how to get tags working. lol
C. Justice  [author] 15 Aug, 2017 @ 2:29pm
If I were still active as such in XCOM 2 Modding scene I would do a version for you no bother, a long with update half my stuff but just do not have time for XCOM2 at moment unfortunately :(

It is pretty straight forward to do. All text changes for ranks
macelharen 15 Aug, 2017 @ 6:30am
any suggestions going down that path? i'm about to read up on modbuddy in the guides section
C. Justice  [author] 15 Aug, 2017 @ 1:42am
These are not based off of American Rank Style. They are a mix of internal British Ranks.

You can make your own if you like, ntex and long war etc obv will not match up potentially because I have not made it for LW. Was for vanilla game ;)
macelharen 15 Aug, 2017 @ 1:05am
yeah, i'll definitely need to alter your setup for the NCOs...using your mod because i'm not sure how to tweak the LW leader pack.
(0) - Recruit (Rk.)
(1) - Private (Pvt.)
(2) - Private 1st Class (Pfc.) -- aka "lance corporate"
(3) - Corporal (Cpl.)
(4) - Sergeant (Sgt.)
(5) - Staff Sergeant (SSgt.) -- aka "technical sergeant"
(6) - Gunnery Sgt (GySgt.) -- aka "Sergeant 1st Class"
(7) - First Sergeant (1SG.)
obviously trying very hard to match the icon sequence of nTex. Trying to get him to put in a "(>" but meh...*shrug*
macelharen 15 Aug, 2017 @ 12:26am
going to see how this meshes with the nTex rank icons

Question: So if you are using this mod AND the long wars studios "Leader Pack," when you train someone as an officer, they will start showing the officer ranks listed above? Ie. Lt, Cpt., Cmdr., etc.? In other words officers will show officer ranks and NCO's will show the NCO ranks?
Pewpewpew 27 Apr, 2016 @ 9:49pm
The best way to make officer and enlisted ranks, is to create 4 clone classes that mirror the default ones. Then you could add an option in the guerilla school to send a soldier to OCS. Which after completing would change his class.(Example: Ranger1 (having all enlisted ranks) would change to Ranger2 (having all officer ranks)
this3ndup 27 Feb, 2016 @ 10:41am
I stand corrected!
LeoinFL 24 Feb, 2016 @ 6:33am
yea really do not like these - logic is very questionable
D20Outlaw 15 Feb, 2016 @ 2:42pm
OR... you could do something that would reflect the one leader per mission, like keep officers in the first rank structure, like Private, Corporal, Sergeant, 1st Sergeant, Lt, Capt, Maj, Col. Then use the leader ranks to denote postion, like Fire Team Leader, Squad Leader, Platoon Sgt, Platoon Ldr, Company XO, Company Commander.

Might be a bit TOO complicated but its just a thought.
D20Outlaw 15 Feb, 2016 @ 2:37pm
OK I will keep an eye on it and let you know if it changes. Keep up the good work!

My rank suggestion would be Greenhorn, Rookie, Soldier, Private, Corporal, Sergeant, First Sergeant, Sergeant Major. Then, Lieutenant Junior Grade, Lieutenant, Captain, Major, Lt. Colonel, Colonel. So just a few minors, but just my 2 cents.
C. Justice  [author] 15 Feb, 2016 @ 1:59pm
In theory they should change to show the ranks stated above however I did not do extensive testing on that. It depends how the LW team have set up the ranks to reflect. This weekend I plan to address all my mods. Just do not have the time currently.

I may........change a few names to try and reflect the whole X-Com atmosphere. Now that people mention the whole "Guerilla warfare" scattered assets scenario it would make sense for a new type of structure to appear so suggestions are welcome :P (Still want to keep it Military Orientated)
D20Outlaw 15 Feb, 2016 @ 1:46pm
Great Mod, I would change two of those rank names, but its your mod, i support that.

I do have a question (maybe a noob one) I trained a solider in the GTS Leadership thingy but his rank is still the NCO rank (your rank i.e. Sergeant). When do the officer ranks show up? or am i missing something?
C. Justice  [author] 15 Feb, 2016 @ 8:36am
the large proportion of it is based off the British Military and the "Marine" rank comes from the British Royal Marines. - Again it depends on how you define a Marine. This is the future, fighting on multiple combat fronts and I feel that Marine fits the whole scope of it. You are not forced to use this mod if you don't like it haha
C. Justice  [author] 15 Feb, 2016 @ 8:34am
Well I like my ranks. :vahlen:

And for your information in regards to what I have structured....this is not based off of Modern Military Ranks primarily. I do not like all this "Warrant Officer Class 2 and Class X" it is boring.

I have went with modern ranks but changed a few such as CSM and RSM's etc etc.

Again, "Officer Cadets" are Officer's in training or studying to recieve a comission. "Cadets" are trainees within a Cadet force, military educational facility or emergency services and other branches depending on country. Debate it all you like but that is the just of it. :shen:
Knyte 15 Feb, 2016 @ 2:32am
Recruits get sent into battle when the aliens took over and you are fighting tooth and nail for every scrap of the world you can possibly get to. If aliens took over the world, any cadet able to hoist a gun would be fighting for their lives to. This isnt you normal highly trained and organizd military squad anymore, it is a resistance effort. Get it together man!
Hyperlynx 15 Feb, 2016 @ 12:53am
Whut.

Recruits do not get sent into battle.
Cadets are officers in training, not enlisted. Or they're high school kids in the army's equivalent of Scouts.
"Marine" as a rank is equivalent to "private", but these are not marines.
Company Sergeant Major is a billet, not a rank. The rank is Warrant Officer Class 2.

Okay, you scared me for a second there, dude. My concerns have already been addressed. XD
C. Justice  [author] 14 Feb, 2016 @ 9:18am
Actually I will think you will find that it is a rank :)

In the British Royal Marines, Marine is an Official Rank and is still used to this day :)
this3ndup 13 Feb, 2016 @ 12:49pm
Just throwing this out there: "Marine" isn't a rank, but a branch of service (e.g. U.S. Marines, Royal Marines).

Papagaio sem asa 13 Feb, 2016 @ 6:16am
great, cause 6 colonels on the same squad made no sense XP was looking forward to a mod like that
C. Justice  [author] 12 Feb, 2016 @ 12:50pm
Haha no bother I didn't take it that way :P I welcome any suggestions. Always happy to have a wee discussion :)
Tex 12 Feb, 2016 @ 12:16pm
I apologize, as I meant no disrespect, nor was I implying that you should change it. Was just telling you what I believed to be correct! Carry on Lieutenant :)
C. Justice  [author] 12 Feb, 2016 @ 12:02pm
Yes that may be again depending on your country :P

In Britain, the term:

"Cadet" is a trainee within cadet forces, military students, emergency services etc etc and can have a diverse meaning as it is used widely.

"Officer Cadet" is recieving training to recieve a comission or is in the process to obtain one.

So in that regard as I said earlier, depends on which Country you are from as to the meaning but I like it where it is so it will be staying there.
Tex 12 Feb, 2016 @ 11:48am
@Lieutenant A.Kouassi Cadets are typically (if not always) officer candidates or officers in training. That's commonplace. I'm sure there are others that don't follow suit however.
C. Justice  [author] 12 Feb, 2016 @ 9:50am
@Solid Rico - That would depend which country you are from :P A cadet can be defined as many things.
Coffeecoffee 11 Feb, 2016 @ 3:30pm
Thanks for the explanation!
Tex 11 Feb, 2016 @ 2:27pm
I had the same issue with my rank packs. There is no way for the LW Leader Pack to override the regular ranks. It sucks, but it is what it is...
C. Justice  [author] 11 Feb, 2016 @ 2:27pm
First navigate to your main game directory:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Localization\INT

example above. Then you have to go to the file named "XComGame.Int".

Within this config file search for [X2ExperienceConfig]

Under this line is all the ranks and shortened titles.

Any other text is also within this file. In regards to LW mod.
That has to be done through modding.

If you have specific requests I may do them for you via a mod if others like too :P
Coffeecoffee 11 Feb, 2016 @ 1:58pm
Can you make a version where the ranks are simply Rank I, Rank II, Rank III, Rank IV,...?
Fangvyr 11 Feb, 2016 @ 1:05pm
That's why I was wondering about where to find this in the ini files. I want to use your ranks, but change the highest one if possible.
Fangvyr 11 Feb, 2016 @ 1:04pm
I like the ranks, but want my top rank to be Elite Operative, as it seems odd to have a bunch of Colonels or CSMs running about.
C. Justice  [author] 11 Feb, 2016 @ 1:00pm
I decided to do a mixture. I could do various combinations however the whole traditional straight "American" ranks kind of bore me. Too many First class, second class, master this, gunnery that, repeats of similar ranks.

So I went with a mixture of British/American/Royal Marine ranks.

The idea is if you play with the Long war leadership mod that you can have NCO's being CSM's and RSM's and the "true" officer ranks are reserved for the actual leadership mod addition.
The max "soldier" rank obtainable would be the CSM atm.
Fuzzyballs01 ꦙ 11 Feb, 2016 @ 12:52pm
can't you do Infantry ranks? Private, Private First Class, etc
Kly 11 Feb, 2016 @ 12:44pm
Awesome thanks for the reply, definitely will try it out after work!
Fangvyr 11 Feb, 2016 @ 12:41pm
Is this something that can be changed in the ini file? If so, would you mind pointing me to where?
C. Justice  [author] 11 Feb, 2016 @ 12:32pm
In theory yes :) - I have yet to test the actual facility to see how it would display however if it is set up like the other ranks then yes it should.

I will be testing and adjusting the mod overtime should it be necessary.
Kly 11 Feb, 2016 @ 12:28pm
Does the changes to the Leader ranks show up on the soldier's name? For example if I make Cpl. John Doe to a Leader will he then be called RSM. John Doe?
