@Kurash:

1) I'm in the middle of a TWW2 project right now, but I'll see if I can't work something out.

2) Ah, I didn't think of that. Updated!

Two quick comments:

1) You should go in MS Paint and make a colorful attractive header image for the mod. your picked images are all zoomed out to far and indistinct.

2) Can you fix "Sassanid" to "Sassanian," because real historians call them Sassanian, the "nid" ending being traditionally slanderous.

Hi @zombieflanders... any chance to make a mod to chance the city names of the Eastern Roman Empire to their greek counterparts? Like Constantinopolis to Konstantinoupolis of Thessalonica to Thessaloniki? I cannot do it in game because in the case of Konstantinoupolis the name is too long.

By the way, how the hell does your Warscape look like CryEngine or something?

Swapping Latin/Greek names to native ones is a questionable concept for a game that's basically a standalone expansion for an obviously romanocentric game (ROME II). Hovewer, I do support the authenticity factor behind this. That's why I have to point out that Atil didn't exist before at least the 7th century. As for Kiev, I know some people believe it to be as old as the 5th century but I find it doubtful that it actually looked like Creative Assembly's Arheimar at that point. Also in Old East Slavic it's 'Kyjevŭ'. La Gioconda may not be able to display that correctly so I recommend calling it 'Kyjev'. Although, as I said, Kiev was most likely a bloody village back then.

@Greq7: Absolutely! All I ask in return is that you credit me somewhere in the description.

Hi zombieflanders
I like your mod, is it ok if I use it in my "Very Hard Campaign Overhaul" that Im working on? It would add to the more realistic atmosphere Im trying to create in that mod
thx

After reading your ''disclaimer'' comments i have only one objection.Your mod should be called ''Authentic City Names VERSIONS' and not vice versa because all you did was changing THE AUTHENTIC names.Otherwise research is always good and gave You most of all knowledge. Please be more precise when you launch a mod.By the way i like all names but Authentic is Authentic..period.. and the reason it is,is because that time that was its name.Nowdays you can call it as you want for ex. mickey mouse city from the ancient Mikmose parthian &^%&&$& bad language.

@Asma Al-Assad: That's a good idea. I'll have to check to see if it conflicts with EP (which incorporates this mod), but if it isn't I'll go ahead and add it to the next release.

would you consider updating this so that references to cities in the quest log reflect the new names? ie, try loading up a norseman game, it'll tell you to loot angulus, which is now treva, etc.
zombieflanders  [author] 29 Feb, 2016 @ 1:21pm
Added more (see description) and updated for new DLC/patch.
Romulus 23 Feb, 2016 @ 10:31pm
You could if you really wanted, just do that manually but I agree it would be cool to see that happen automatically.

zombieflanders  [author] 22 Feb, 2016 @ 4:21am
@Abdullah Öcalan: Unfortunately, I don't think there is. I agree that it would be very cool.

is there anyway to get name changes to trigger upon the capture of a city by a certain faction/culture? it would be nice to see a settlement flip to a latin name when under roman rule, and a persian one when under sassanid rule, etc, with a default to latin or something when, say, the danes take something in egypt.

@|-TsR-|| james: For graphics, I use GEM with a modified preset and Aztec's environments. I have some faction emblem mods and Authentic Faction Names enabled as well.

What submod(s) is in the screenshots? Graphics look really nice.
Eikel 20 Feb, 2016 @ 11:34am
Screenshots are perfectly fine for me.. thanks for this mod!!
Pullo 20 Feb, 2016 @ 3:41am
Good idea
Frostღ 20 Feb, 2016 @ 2:18am
Way to go with the screenshots.. can't see anything from them :D
zombieflanders  [author] 16 Feb, 2016 @ 7:30pm
@The_Germans_are_coming: It shouldn't, despite the table name. I used it in the middle of a game and haven't run into any problems.
Kraut 16 Feb, 2016 @ 5:36pm
Does it edit the startpos?
